Just noticed how after eating the fruit, Luffy started saying he wants to be Pirate King and decided to go on his own adventure. Manifestation of the fruits' will. And shanks, knowing full well of the fruits' real power, sacrificed his best sword hand for the future Pirate King, Sun God Nika.

I think that shanks bounty was already over a billion in this episode. The only reason he lost his arm was because oda had different plans for the story i reckon.

I remember being 13 and being so amazed by the "risk your life on it" scene. It set the tone for everything, "yes we've got a bunch of goofy characteristics, gimmicks, and quirks but at the end of the day we're mfing pirates." Then Oda kinda forgot about the tone he set. I don't blame him though, it's been going on for more than 20 years.

I think my favorite part of this scene, with the hindsight of Conqueror's Haki, is that Shanks probably could've prevented his arm from being taken if he used more 'force', but it probably would've knocked Luffy out, too. He chose to sacrifice his arm, instead of using his ability on Luffy, even if it wouldn't have done any actual damage.

oda might be plotting to make shanks the main villain cuz innocents dont get hurt while using ch . maybe shanks did it all to gain luffy's trust .
as the other reply says you can target your conquerors so it doesn't affect bystanders. i personally think shanks let his arm get taken on purpose, to teach luffy a valuable lesson that the life of a pirate on the seas is not a game and shits real. and it worked too thats why luffy later says to shanks that he doesn't want to ride on his ship anymore, that he will become strong first and form his own crew. later on in the series shanks says to whitebeard "i bet this arm on a new era" which i think further proves this idea, he gave his arm betting that this young boy is going to grow from it and shape the new era in the future

To have a great impact on someone its not forcing them to a conclusion, its best for them to believe, luffy gave up in trying to be on shanks ship and had a bigger ambition, even (SPOILER ALERT)

Shanks already was pushing luffy for that conclusion, in exchange for his arm as he says " a small.price to pay" he gave luffy a goal

Based on the recent chapters, he most likely became stronger after he lost it. He currently has the strongest haki in the OP Universe (excluding dead characters like Roger) and became Yonko 6 years after this incident. So he most likely trained his haki to be considered a rival to Big Mom, Kaido and old Whitebeard.

I also realised the start of One Piece, the anime deviate from manga slightly. They also didn't add the one that Luffy stab himself. Only after hundreds of episodes, they remake it. Unless i'm wrong.. Since this is a compilation reaction channel.

@@dinesh9118 from early on the show it was all a mystery how shanks lost an arm to that fish when very early, we are told that he has the level of Mihawk. Especially true when we saw Luffy punch out said monster. So as said above, it was all explained why in chapter 1043 or 44 don’t remember exactly. So, Oda basically did a foreshadowing of 25 years in the future 🧠👀

That was A long time before Shanks was an emperor, probably he wasn't as strong as he is now. We've seen in the time skip how 2 years is plenty for luffy get overpowered. I could also mean that he was trying to teach Luffy a lesson.

@@adamknife2484 Yeah, plus Shanks didn't really advocate the idea of becoming a pirate much. Shanks didn't deny it, clearly, but Shanks doesn't do much to intentionally put the idea of being a pirate into Luffy's head. Luffy was just naturally charmed by the idea of living free on the seas, and he probably would've decided to become a pirate sooner or later even if he hadn't met the Red-Haired Pirates.
