    I hope that helps, just send in the link from the Social Security Offices and all you have to do is look up Nicaragua's form or whatever country you are living at and download and follow the instructions except Cuba and North Korea

      I don't think the link can show up here. Email it to me and I'll post it.

    Hi.Scott. I have found that you do need to inform your U.S. Bank that you will be in another country so that the debit card /credit card you have with them will work. So far with me, I have always needed to tell them an estimated duration of time that I will be gone. So far I don't know a way around this. Good show as usual. Thanks.

      I used to have to do that. It was a huge problem. But about eight years ago all my banks stopped and i haven't seen a geo lock outside the US in forever. But if I go to Atlanta they still do it because it's such a hotbed of identity theft.

    I lost a 🦵 limb at work and I do that exact same process. Bank in the U.S and live through the ATM here in Nicaragua. Gracias for the info about getting a backup debit card.

    Absentee vote for fed elections can be submitted via US Embassies; delivered back to the States in diplomatic parcel (hand-carried & guarded by marines).

    is there a transaction fee for using debit card on the ATM? if so, do you recommend a specific bank to avoid that? Same question for the credit card, I assume you can use US credit card in Nicaragua without issues or additional fees

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  День тому +2

      There's the normal ATM fees, I list these for popular banks in an upcoming video that is already uploaded, but not live yet. Some US banks pay that fee for you, but not most. Charles Schwabb is the recommended bank for sure.
      Chase Shapphire, Capital One Venture, American Express and DIscover are four example cards that have no fees anywhere in the world. Nicaragua doesn't charge any fees for credit cards, but many credit cards have international transaction fees. So look for ones that don't. Spirit's Mastercard through Bank of America also has no international fees, but a generic Bank of America card does, as examples.

    FED nearly forces you to do direct deposit for most payments from all of its offices. FED debit cards for payment were being stolen at equal rate to checks from the USP delivery.

    Scott just want to point out a few wrong things you are saying here. 1. you need an address to get social security payment is required. (they need to send you a letter every two years to confirm you are still alive) 2.They could send it to you direct deposit to another country's bank (except Cuba and N. Korea) If you have your S.S. payments you will be avoiding atm fees every time you withdraw money, so yeah you could have your payments directly deposited into your foreign account.

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  5 днів тому +1

      They offer direct deposit to Nicaragua? Without a fee? Or is there some fee for that?

    • @Nicarnivoro
      @Nicarnivoro 5 днів тому +2

      @@ScottAlanMillerVlog Absolutely free deposited I just went to my Bank(LAFISE) brought the form to fill out and then send it directly to Social Security either by mail, faxed or by E-mail to the Costa Rican Embassy Social Security Office Branch. It takes approximately 2 months for it to process and then you get your payments to your Bank in Nicaragua.

    ill mention that if your usa bank atm card is lost or damaged , youll need to travel to the usa to get another one.
    you will also lose money every time you withdraw money from a nicaragua atm machine.
    nicaragua banks frequently freeze nicaragua residents local bank accounts. they may even confiscate the money. i know this because of my wifes horrors there
    even if an expat did want a bank acct there, he would be hard pressed to have one. .
    nicaragua does what they want.
    and they are afraid of their own shadow.
    thats my perception.
    if you use your bank cards in nicaragua the vendors often try to add on extra charges and your usa bank will shut the card down. if you cant reopen it, youll have to travel to the us.
    and good luck trying to contact a bank from nicaragua

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  4 дні тому +1

      this is demonstrably false. it's made up. it is not your perception, it's just a lie. americans get replacement cards all the time. accounts are only frozen for criminals, no one fears this. expats get accounts here every day. nicaragua is ruled by the law which you'd know if you'd been here.

      we already know your wife lies to you and you repeat her lies knowing they are lies. there's no question that you have been scammed. and there is no question that you know it. repeating what you know is a lie is a lie.

      bank cards in nicaragua never add extra charges. how clueless can you be?

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  4 дні тому

      just because you lose money to your wife stealing from you does not imply that someone is taking from her. none of those things have happened

      ok. it is what it is. i told you my experiences and all i know. your reality down there is quite different from mine. im not sure what the truth is. im going to continue believing that she will enter the usa in 1-2 years through the cr-1 visa . if not, then ill put her in rosarito, mexico and work in san diego. im 66 and i dont have forever to be around. i just want to see her and her kids ok here.
      at this point i see nicaragua as a very important place to visit for single men with money. like cuba and venezuela.
      you see it as more than that. very well. i will wish you well and let you get on with your life there and wish you the very best for your family.
      i hope the world powers will resue the suffering women in nicaragua.
      if i have been scammed, it doesnt matter. ill die soon and i hope to leave her and kids in good shape here.
      cheers! and thx.

    I swear to frigging god, if I get down there and Trump/Rubio add Nicaragua to the list of countries you can't receive SS...
    (and here's where you say 'never', but with these clowns can you really say 'never'?)

      Just us the US bank account approach and the location doesn't matter. Gives you more protection should you ever have bank complications here, or travel.

    Hello Scott off topic for this video but mention to brother interested in exploring Nicaragua 1st this mention Well they kidnapping American so dangerous ASK so you have been there? My experience I've been to Cities in US have armed security in day time grocery store and bullet proof glass at place sells Chicken and Fish AM I safe 🙂 or do I use my judgment Were and when I visit places

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog  5 днів тому +3

      There is no kidnapping here. The country is incredibly safe. There's no kidnapping, no targeting of tourists, nothing against Americans, extremely low violent crime rates, literally one of the safest places on the continent. Even Canadians all say it feels safer than Canada. And unlike many other safe places, there's very little police presence - it's just a place that isn't very dangerous naturally.
      We DO have armed guards in places dispensing money (because it's an insurance rule), but there's basically no bulletproof glass anywhere in the country except like police stations and even there, I doubt that there is.
      You are safer in the roughest, poorest barrios of Nicaragua than you are in much of the US. You should never just be foolish and reckless, but if you were to be foolish and reckless, Nicaragua is where you'd want to do that. Here people refer to "dangerous" as "people might try to snatch your stuff while you are not paying attention" rather than "they might harm you physically." It's so safe, their definitions of danger are different than they are in America.
