It's crazy that Trump is banning travel to countries that take care of their citizens, perhaps he doesn't want US citizens to know what is out there. Scary times. Thank you for the info
You are right about the Marxist stuff. It's amazing how many Americans aren't aware. We're planning to fly down to our new home in beautiful Nicaragua on February 17th and hoping to not run into any travel difficulties. Trying not to bite my nails.
I'm canadian and planning on going to Nicaragua in April..how can I get in contact with you if you have time for some deeper questions? regards, Dean..
Sorry but you will be surprised how Canada will be acting from now on ( on think you should not forget is Airtransat and Copa both can fly from Canada without passing from the USA ) I personally travel always by not stoping in the USA
Canada under our present ruling government. Would be on travel ban if economies weren't so intertwined. With the cost of airports Canada will never be a travel hub. Toronto airport was 2nd highest globally. Tokyo number 1
And what happens if you are unable to withdraw cash from an ATM because they have also banned financial transactions? Such is the case, I believe, in Cuba.
That's not a trivial thing, cutting off a country from SWIFT. Cuba wasn't "cut off", it's been outside the system for forever. Not even countries at open war with the US are usually cut off as it impacts the US dramatically and mostly punishes American citizens while doing little to nothing to the locals. If that happened, you'd not have access to any banking. You are talking about an unprecedented scenario so hard to say what the best option would be. It would almost certainly be some sort of usage of ATMs and banks in neighbor countries and people using black market traders. It's a small country and our bordering countries are very different places. So the ability to work around it would be relatively easy and swift. Annoying for sure if it happens mid-vacation. But the US has never punished their own citizens by crippling global confidence in the US bank infrastructure like that. Just doing so would be a signal that the US is no longer a viable economic power and its banks are no longer functional. Not something the US will do lightly.
How can you call William Walker a marxist? He reinstitued slavery in Nicaragua. He was aligned with the southern american democrats. Marx supported the union and abolitionists in his journalism. Maybe don't project soviet government metaphors back on the past. It'll confuse people.
He believed in the government owning all of the means of production and everyone being a ward of the state and the government overseeing all economic and business decisions. A horrible evil take on Marxism, but most of the fundamentals that people say are only part of Marxism were core to his vision here and were implemented, the US returned and tried to reinstate them a century alter, too, by pushing the Communist party directly. Doubling down on their history of Marxist concepts in the region.
Free healthcare does not make you socialist in the United States. The United States has the largest healthcare program free of charge called dialysis. Travel bands are for citizens not for governments. Deportation flights do not get impacted by this. If you are illegal in the United States, it means that you do not have a visa. If you’re on a deportation flight, you do not have a visa. This has no effect. I think you might be at a disadvantage to understanding modern politics of the USA likely based on education factors. William Walker was commanded by the United States to leave as he did not form a constitution. This is completely irrelevant to today. Nicaragua has done nothing but positive things in working with the United States as of recently particularly on travel bands. The intelligence agencies are the only ones that have a problem with Nicaragua and they are in the process of all being fired. Canada will never be a travel hub due to the jetstream. I’m realizing you probably don’t know why Managua is being rebuilt at the moment or who is paying for the power grid to be rebuilt or where all of this money is coming from and why we are paying so much for nio now. It’s probably just best not to give your opinion on these topics that you don’t fully understand because it really just sounds like you have a bone to pick with the United States and that’s not the right position to take here.
oh. are you threatening an american citizen that it's not safe to use free speech? quite the disgusting opinion you have of the USA. Maybe it's time ICE visited you.
Don't worry i already got out of the Us and am safe in Nicaragua. But for those still in the US, absolutely it's become scary and you should get to someplace safe like Nicaragua while you still have the freedom to get out.
Important time to be staying informed and paying attention. Things change so fast, and so dramatically.

that's been the standard American positions forever. the state department always discouraged americans "finding out" too mich

@@richardwilkinson72 That would really negatively impact a lot of expats and vacationers for sure.

But not as much as it would impact Americans at home as the value of the US banking sector plummeted.

If that is your house it has a very nice architectural design. That shows you are living a good life in Nicaragua. FSLN
I live there, but it isn't mine. I only rent. It's beautiful though.

if you know nothing of the US at all, maybe best not to spew this randomness.

you are in a real danger. Get out before you can't
