I love watching a bunch of rectangles fighting eachother
Try HOI4, you will see a lot of boxes their fighting - with a mod of course.
How short- sighted of you......
You sir, are funny
Same. I jerk to it, On the real
@@TheOtakuPrince What mod?
Damn, Godfred and Raymond had balls. They went "Well it's 2 to 1 so our only chance is to steamroll them at dawn. "
Heard of Alexander he steamrolled Persians twice while being outnumbered 5:1
@Padraig mallon And i thought the Irish were at least somewhat progressive :)
@Padraig mallon Are you just a 12 year old trying to be edgy? Padraig Mallon is an Irish name. Maybe you're just a lowlife piece of shit who happens to have an Irish name. My mistake, asshole.
Balls of steel
Killing civilians unlike salladin
Remember in AoE2 how you used livestock to scout? Historically accurate!
Wololo
Dan Boud
Yeahh! My brother taught me that one AOE 2 day. I was like "WTF !".
Another classic is when fog of war was off, look for dead sheep and most likely their town center/mill was there.
Dan Boud Livestock spies were widely used during those days.
Dan Boud Very true
Here
"There shall not be a king where Christ alone reigned."
Sounds like a quote to me!
Unfortunately History will not see it that way.
@@mysteryjunkie9808 True, Saladin and his 30,000 soldiers at Hattin will decisively check 20,000 Crusaders.
@@Holybatman3603 Member of peaceful community in hattin the crusaders were already broken with hunger and thirst and were outnumbered just read about battle of montisgarad Acre Jaffa
Antioch and Doryalam and the Seige of Jerusalem Crusaders were out outnumbered still they kicked Saracen butts

Both channels are amazing
gud channel
I loved your video aswell @nurrik & phoenix
Did the unit of herd animals eventually achieve elite status?
Perhaps
Gordon Ramsey cooked them all so yes they did reach elite status.
Thank you for this comment, sir.
@@lauralil6886 haha
What was happened when Saladin invaded it?
You gotta give it to the first crusaders! They have been outnumbered and through battle ever since Antioch.
Yet they still defeat almost every force they come upon. Seer determination and being battle hardened can sometimes prove more important than numbers, and of course their armour and horses.
And the muslim commanders were not prepared to face new european tactics, in particular the use of knights. When the muslims invaded Spain and attempted to invade France, they were the ones using heavy cavalery and the europeans were on foot. It's funny to note that frankish knighthood can be traced back to Charles Martell who gave his best soldiers land and they in return had to raise at least one war horse and swear to come to their lord's aid if he calls for them. Centuries after his death Good guy Charles did it again!
TwoFistsOneHalleluja exactly.
Darkavenger_13 to be fair, the Norman forces were comparatively pretty badass at this time. Basically 2nd gen Vikings, who had grown up under intense Christian dogma, but who also retained that savage lust for blood and glory.
@@TwoFistsOneHalleluja Then the Spanish and Portuguese kicked muslims out of Iberia with their mighty cavalary and gruesome tactics :D
@@dionysus1917 only "2nd gen" after 2 centuries and a half spent within a more numerous local population in Normandy? After intermarrying with locals from day one? They had more frankish blood than viking blood at this point, including the ruling cast.
"Wololo" I know what you did there ;)
"Take the city, you won"
"Actually no, you keep it"
It's understandable the Fatmids were so confused.
At least they have been consistent with the infighting during this campaign.

Alexios: How's your vow guys?
Tancred: Who cares?
Shouldn't Tancred say "I didn't take any oath?" He was the only crusader lord who refused to make any oath with Alexios because he had no intentions of keeping said oath (like the other crusader lords). Truly Tancred did literally nothing wrong.
seems like an honest dude
...not to mention he showed initiative yet again this time; seeing how he also seemed to have some principles, it's probably enough to be a decent MVP contender.
I feel that if a tv show was made about the first crusade and the adventures of the crusader lords, Tancred would be the best character, i envision him as similar to Titus Pullo from Rome
Exactly
Fakeslimshady Like, you know we are talking of invaders? Do you?
10:24 Moooo 😂😂😂
The Bovine Cavalry have arrived!
Moooo VULT
XD... soo that the hurd of moooo they gathered along the road....
Epic
Come on I almost comment that 😂😂😂😂😂
Make all the battles in all the crusades cronologically! This stuff's epic AF!
The Fatimids trying to ally with the Crusaders is really interesting to me.
They had a trade alliance with Byzantium empire. It's better for them to compromise.
It was not strange for the Fatimid to attempt to ally with the Crusaders, since the Fatimid saw the Seljuk Turks as their main opponent and not the European Christians. As noted in the video, the Fatimid rulers were Shi'a while the Seljuk were Sunnis hence their hostility toward each other. Moreover, again as repeatedly mentioned throughout the series, the Fatimid and Seljuk constantly underestimated the Crusaders thus failing to organize effective resistance against them. Saladin realized his predecessors' mistake and concentrated in solidifying his control over Egypt, Syria, and Iraq to gather enough resources and men to re-take most of Levant from the Latins.
what why? this still going on today, with USA allied with Saudi Arabia etc.
They probably should've at least temporarily allied themselves against the turks who were the common enemy and ultimately fucked both Arabs and Europeans for centuries.
Oh well, history sees that happen a lot with a third party that appears out of nowhere to conquer everyone in sight.

9:44 So, cattle were the Christian reserve force?
Catapulting cows heh
Yes, it was actually quite a common practice in Europe to hurl them into enemy formations using siege catapults. Haven't you ever watched Monty Python???
they're called force multipliers which make good eating
"This one's for your mother!"
They also used the cows as defence against the hindu's

Great job guys. I really hope that all crusades will be covered. It's an interesting history and you guys will surely present it in a very awesome way.
Imagine if ascalon went to the crusaders, a massive port city that could have played a massive impact but sure stupidity
Who knows if Raymond had accepted King it would’ve
This channel by far is my favorite channel on UA-cam, thank you so much for your work.
BTW as a native Arabic speaker I would be glad to provide any help with this language as I see you tried Google translate in this video.
Lovely content - 1st crusade is one of my favorite time periods. Thanks for posting this!
Nice work Baz! Love history and your very unique presentation combines to give viewers a really neat way of studying the past! Good work!
You're one of those channels that i really excited about when i see you in my feed , and i prepare snacks just to watch it
These videos are just amazingly well done! Now looking forward to seeing the aftermath and the second crusade!
"I miss Adhemar..."

one of best History channel in UA-cam.
Dude thanks a lot for this, I have been attempting to study the Crusades for quite some time in my spare time but I must say, I have learned so much just by watching this short series. Much appreciated Sir! If you ever come up with the time to add in the second and third Crusades, it would be epic for all of us I am sure. !!! Godspeed.
First crusade army was really stronk i think and with 7 general, it was becoming literally unstoppable =__=.
AWESOME! NOW FOR THE SECOND CRUSADE MAYBE? :)
Sure! That is, until the Great Monarch and Our Lady of Fatima arrives on the scene as precised for over 15 century's.

DEUS VULT
IN SHA ALLAH
Radegast it doesn't. Deus vult means "God wills it" which is inferring to doing what God wanted, and Allahu akbar means "God is great" meaning that God is the greatest, not trying to be rude but just stating facts
For Ascalon! Drive back the Charr... I mean, the Fatimid
Ha! Everyone is yelling AoE2 and here's a GW2 reference. Nice

As a huge AoE2 fan and also as someone very interested in medieval history I really appreciated that "WOLOLO" you threw in there! I love these vids and I know I'm a bit late posting (I've watched this one a couple times) I figured I'd post.

Ah yes, the famous quote from the commander Sparribs. “Moooo”
Russia learned about this event soon enough. Some years later, a Russian monk named Daniel traveled to Jerusalem and spoke with king Baldwin, who, as his account states, he found a wise and noble man.
Very nice videos!! I love them all!! Waiting for the next one!
Your videos are grate, fantastic, I love it so much. Thank you BazBattles, your videos shown me how interested history are..
Baz are you ever going to do any Mongol battles?
They really should since The Mongols and The Crusaders crossed paths eventually after this period. Albeit towards the end of the Frankish presence in the middle east.

It was his own fault. He should have accepted the kingship and then he would have been able to accept the surrender of the Muslim city without question. Maybe that would have been enough to tip the scale when the Muslims invaded again.

Well, that's why Raymond should have accepted the position instead of playing the piety card. Was he expecting the city to rule itself?
