Shogun 2 is the more popular of the two because it is newer, so it's natural that more people will relate the music to Shogun 2 instead of Shogun 1. Neither party is wrong. Never played Shogun 1 myself, but judging by the responses, CA used the same music for both.
I'll take that as a compliment. But I don't feel there's rivalry. We all love history and we all invest a lot of time and effort into making these sorts of videos. I've religiously watched Balthasar's videos since the early days. Truly admire his work!
Nowaday most people in japan sucide right now not because honour shit anymore. All of them com from depresion. Life is cruel in Japan. It hard to get a Proper job there, they must working overtime like a lot, even Bullying. And they dont even care for the people who fall into depresion (A.K.A most of the NEET), but treet them like weight for the society.
ritual suicide was commonplace in Samurai Japan back then to preserve their sense of honor and dignity as prescribed in their Bushido way of life...being defeated in battle was a "shamefur dispray" so rather than live and bear the shame of being a loser they chose to die instead by their own hands... by committing sudoku... I mean Seppuku...
The characters in Gekokujou (下克上) mean "under-overcome-above," so it's more like the underling/retainer overthrowing the lord/daimyou. It doesn't imply weakness or strength on either side.
Cant wait to see the Top 10 Anime betrayal, i bet they include of how Shingen Takeda exliled his father Nobutora so he can take Kai for himself and Akechi Mitsuhide betrayal, burned Honnoji temple and his lord Nobunaga. And don't forget, the Top 10 Anime's romance video, one of them is the romance between Nobunaga and Mori Ranmaru
Nobunaga would have completed the dragon balls and got the triforce but that bitch Mitsuhide was high on something and burned the fucking castle killing Nobunaga
Mori Motonari was a top tier politician & one of the best strategist in sengoku period. According to Japanese Wiki Corpus, he participated in as many as 200 battles(?) Such an interesting warlord in this period, along with Uesugi Keshin.
Your videos are so good I sometimes forget I'm on UA-cam and believe I'm watching a documentary on TV. I can't wait for you to talk about the confrontation between Shingen and Kenshin.
WOW. Just wow. This series is easily becoming one of your best. This is gold for us history lovers, thank you so much. Keep up the good work. Can't wait for videos on Takeda Shingen, that guy is brilliant.
+Ken Havens I have to concur with Stannis. While you can find the same information in a documentary, these videos are far more entertaining coming from a history lover.
@Ken Havens Are you outta your mind? If you had said books, I'd understand since books are even more amazing, and filled with even more info for us History Lovers, and they generally should be our source of knowledge on History. BUT there is NO documentary on Sengoku Jidai as High Quality as this one. BazBattles's videos are just beautiful and so enjoyable to watch.
Absolutely loved this episode. I've read many accounts of this particular engagement but never fully came to comprehend its full sequence until I watched this. Thank you, and keep pumping out them Sengoku Jidai episodes! They're my favourite!
Thank you for doing this period justice!! I love the Extra Credits guys but they jumped into Segoku Jidai to abruptly and with very little background knowledge of the period and I was lost for most of those episodes...please keep up the excellent work and please keep 'em coming!
I like to think of him as the IRL, Japanese Tywin Lannister. Old by the time he led his family to domination? Check. Politically savvy? Check. Absolutely ruthless and brutal to his enemies? Check. Willing to use underhanded means but only if he could do it without losing support? Check. Comes from the western parts of the nation in question? Check. Tied to mining of precious metals? Check (the Iwami silver mines were among the most valuable resources in Japan; the place changed hands between the Ouchi and the Amago several times, but Motonari managed to gain full control of it after he’d eradicated the Ouchi and then used his much increased power to conquer the Amago as well).
These videos are so good, I wish you could post more frequently. I know that it takes a lot of time and it's a great affort, but I don't mind about waiting. Keep up the awesome work!
Please do the Battle of Towton. It was one of the biggest battles of the medevil ages and the largest of the War of the Roses. A series on the War of the Roses would be even more incredible. Attempt #7
Its awesome to see other parts of the sengoku jidai than just Tokugawa, Imagawa, Takeda, Uesegi and Oda! Please do Chosokabe, Otomo and Shimazu too! They seem largely ignored, as the main fighting was around Kyoto and in the middle of the country.
The ironic thing is that Motonari was starting to really kick his conquest of Chugoku into gear around the time everyone else was just getting started.
I have enjoyed your content for quite a while. However this has been the most enjoyable one that I have seen to date! I am a big fan of the origional Shogun total war game by t way! Love it! ;)
Hoyschel Silversteinberg Dang gotta disagree with this comment.. Shogun II and Rome II by SEGA are easily some of the best historical strategy games ever made. I can concede Attila though, that one was pretty awful.
dwarfie24 Steam reviews which are 5 years old. Nowadays, the game is quite good. I recently played 2 vanilla campaigns (Parthia and Nabataea) after 300 hours of Rome II, and I was relieved to see that even without DeI, it still is a very good game.
Telsion Dude what did I do to younfor you to lie to me. Check out Drontti edwards review dated 8 march. (Cant paste it though mobile) People talked positvely about empire too and that game is shite.
Maybe instead of saying they commited suicide, say they commited Seppuku/Harakiri. As those are very different things in Feudal Japanese culture. Great video either way though!
stellvia, you are such a fucking dumb shit it boggles me. suicide is just plain killing yourself because you want to escape life. seppuku was killing yourself because you were dishonorable and thus didn't "deserve" life. don't call people weebs to propound your hate and disrespect of other cultures.
Zack Wyvern no, seppuku was the honorable way out. It was the way to die and retain your honor, not being dishonorable. Source: my moms side is descended from samurai.
I always look forward to your videos 👍. I would love to see more of the old Greek days(B.C era) and the battles showing how they perfected the phalanx formation
Only to find out you have no hope of beating the players still present, who have much more powerful veterans and heroes that no numbers and tactics can save you. I've had that game for years, and that is my conclusion.
As always, great video! By the way, I really appreciate the subtitles. It's much easier to follow what is going on without having to figure out what are the names of the persons and places depicted.
I...don't. Well It's entertaining I give you that, but it's not all that accurate. See www.reddit.com/r/badhistory/comments/46edyc/extra_history_sengoku_jidai_and_just_the_sengoku/

Interesting to see the paralells between Mori folklore and Mongol history, with the Mori Daimyo having faced down the Amago Daimyo in a very similar tale to Jebe the Arrow, and the three arrow parabel being exactly how Genghis Khan demonstrated strength in unity to his sons. Awsome video sir now off to start a new Shogun campaign as the Mori.
No historically accurate video about feudal Japan is complete without seeing the triforce of courage and dragon balls.
Don't forget the Shogun 2 music
Triforce, not trident.
i never said trident
Correction: Rich important people hired samurai, poor people who could not afford to hire a samurai did not hired samurai.
Bill?
Of course it's music from Shogun 2 Total War
I think it's from the original Shogun Total War.
First Last I recognize quite a few from the second one
it is from Shogun first
Most of it is from Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom
Shogun 2 is the more popular of the two because it is newer, so it's natural that more people will relate the music to Shogun 2 instead of Shogun 1. Neither party is wrong. Never played Shogun 1 myself, but judging by the responses, CA used the same music for both.
Ohhhh, the battle on the holy island. I've been eagerly waiting for this episode. Outstanding work!
I'll take that as a compliment. But I don't feel there's rivalry. We all love history and we all invest a lot of time and effort into making these sorts of videos. I've religiously watched Balthasar's videos since the early days. Truly admire his work!

so what I take from all this is that it was very depressing and probably still is.
The characters in Gekokujou (下克上) mean "under-overcome-above," so it's more like the underling/retainer overthrowing the lord/daimyou. It doesn't imply weakness or strength on either side.

Nah the Manga is WAY better
can't wait for the episode that Takamura becomes the emperor of Japan by TKO

It is good but nothing groundbreaking. You can find the same information in a real documentary.

Shogun 2 music?
Nice.
That I would not consider a _shamefur dispray._
Shogun I music to be exact. It was used as loading music in Shogun 2 as well, though.
pvtj0cker
I didn't play Shogun 1, only 2.
Only heard it in the loading screen, which technically means it's also Shogun 2 music.
