  • The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 FX707VV is one of the most pleasantly confusing laptops I've had the chance to review.
    Stay tuned as we dive into exactly why that is.
    Thanks to Asus South Africa for sending this through.

    Howzit man, I just discovered your content because I'm debating purchasing the 707VU. I loved the vid and will definitely be back for more, I just have one question. I know it was touched on in the vid but I wanna make sure. With this laptop are you able to upgrade the RAM to 32gb? Hope everyone has a lovely day!

      Heya :)
      Yep you will.
      I checked the website now and they seem to have stopped reporting max supported ram for some stupid reason.
      But this should easily do 64 even. Just remember it's dual so you need to buy 2 x 16s to make 32

    Hey i’m a programmer with heavy work and I don’t play game on laptop only some old mmorpg so what should i buy? I found this laptop for 1300$ but is there a better suited for me with less price? Like 1000$ ?

    • @WootDini
      @WootDini  6 місяців тому

      Heya.
      So this would be a great choice for you because coding is compilation logic.
      You could probably get away with something less but the cpu is quite a good one for what you doing.
      If you can find that CPU in a laptop for 1000 then do that but I have not seen it as cheap as this

    Hey, i'm planning on getting this laptop for game design and 3d animation for school, but i also want to play games(mostly single player games such as rdr2, the Witcher series and mortal Kombat) at a decent frame rate. So would you recommend this laptop for me, or do you have any other suggestions?
    For more context, i am upgrading from an Hp 255 G8 Notebook, so im very sure its gonna be a huge upgrade. But, i would like to know if there are any other laptops you'd recommend thats within a similar price range.
    Also thank you for the great and informative video.

    • @WootDini
      @WootDini  5 місяців тому +1

      Heya.
      I still think it's great value for money. But I would check the demand of your school programs. Game design is normally heavy on CPU which is good in this case but 3d animation could pull more on the GPU.
      Laptops a safe bet but depending on your program needs, there may be a better fit

    I saw that the FX707ZI model with a 1080p display has 100% DCI-P3, but other 1080p models only have 62.5% sRGB. But all the models with 1440p have 100% DCI-P3 and also have better brightness. (I need 100% DCI-P3 for my work) should I go with better gpu or better display?

    • @WootDini
      @WootDini  2 місяці тому

      It's your call but my opinion is better GPU. Rather complain that the display could be better than having a good display that can't produce frames to be enjoyed

    Thanks for the review! I am looking at this laptop for mostly productivity with some gaming and media uses on the side.
    I would like to know about the following :
    keyboard? Is is usable? Is it good?
    I am looking at a model with a preview Gen i7-12700H and Rtx 4060. I am sure it would be more than enough as I am upgrading from a 7th Gen i7, but would like to know your thoughts.
    Is the screen bright enough? With this I only mean for indoor use. And maybe some sunlight shining through the windows.
    Thanks again for the good info.

    • @WootDini
      @WootDini  6 місяців тому +1

      Heya :)
      Keyboard is good. Standard chicklet so I was happy.
      Screen was sufficient in brightness. Could be a little more not bad at all.
      And from a 7th will be massive because anything after 7th offers turbo frequency.

    I took an asus tuf gaming f17 at 13900h, rtx4060 and a 2k display, the processor and video card heat up to 85-90 in games (the Witcher, cyberpunk), the video memory also heats up to the same temperatures. What is the reason? Could it be a defect? The laptop is lifted, nothing interferes with the air.

    • @WootDini
      @WootDini  7 місяців тому +2

      Hey bud.
      So great question.
      When your resolution scales up it takes pressure off the cpu for rendering and puts it onto the GPU. So the fact you have a higher resolution and your GPU is heating more than my tests, it makes complete sense.
      However when I comes to a GPU , I don't like when mobile GPUs go past 90 even though they can.
      My suggestion is get a cooling pad to assist the laptop and also when possible game in a air-conditioned room

      So get the laptop first and look for the placement of the bottom intakes. You want to get something that places the fans as close to the intakes as possible.
      So your best bet is going to be a 4 fan type (brand makes little difference) , just don't get the giant uni fan one

    Dude pls answer if you can. The question is: is this a good configuration for a casual gamer? ...im so confused by these different setups of this laptop. I found this config for about €1300 (why is this so "cheap"??:
    --- Intel Core i7-13620H --- 1TB SSD ---

    • @WootDini
      @WootDini  4 місяці тому

      Heya!
      So I am very against putting 4050 and gamer together. If you are super casual and do not need anything past 50-60 frames then sure.
      I would strongly advise rather trying to get a 4060 because you will have a 4050 and always look up with regret in my opinion. 4050 is good for a Ultrabook but not a gaming notebook
      It you can find a 4060 with that same 140w tgp you have a winner.
      The display on what you have shown is also not that great (but ips is a bonus).
      I don't know what laptops go for where you are so I can't comment on price.
      If it's a great price then go for it but if you can find a 4060 (140w tgp) for slightly more than do that

      @@WootDini this GAMING laptop has only two versions on the market in my country, both with the i7 and you can choose between 4050 or 4060 rtx. You said you would rather put the 4070 into this paired with an i7 or i5...but the processor wouldnt even be able to handle it properly. Pairing a 4050 with a 13th gen processor is pretty much a perfect match.... Also the difference between 4050/4060/4070 basically doesnt exist, its like 10-15% performance difference between the worst and the best of em.. but im just a casual i guess..doesnt matter.
