- This is a video guide how to repair Yongnuo speedlights,maybe even other cheap speedlights. The problem is the thermal fuse that interrupts electric current when heated to a specific temperature. After that your speedlight will not switch on and will not produce any sounds. If any leds or display on your flash switches on but it doesn't fire,the problem is in the ignition transformer coil or the resistor on the circuit board in the tube/lamp compartment. Don't forget to discharge the capacitor,otherwise you put at risk your health because 320Volts power is still in the capacitor after turning off and removing batteries!

Thanks for the video - i had the exact same issue - however, my problem was caused by using cheap rechargeable batteries (GOOP), they heated up to the point that they burnt the wire inside the flash that connects/links two battery terminals, i was stressing thinking it might be the fuse, but i noticed the loose wire and sorted it out. Saved me alot of money

worked on my 560 IV...thank you! wish there was a way to replace the fuse but it looks like planned obsolescence to me. For what these cost I didn't expect to be selling the when I retired but I did expect a little more than about 800 flashes before it died. Oddly enough, it was working fine on a location shoot...using 1/4 power. finished the shoot, shut it off and then it just wouldn't restart. However, 20 min. and some solder later, I'm good to go.

I soldered a cable between the fuse connections. It improved, and firing became more regular. Since the fuse is a safety mechanism, strong continuous flashes should be avoided. Let the flash cool after a session. It is also possible to make a simple fuse with a piece of tin (for welding). Tin melts at low temperature (I didn't try this because I would have to remove the circuit.). To discharge the capacitor, I used a common 127v bulb connected to two cables. Connect to the red and black outputs of the main capacitor (400v !!).

Mine has a hum once batteries are installed.
mine wont work "off camera " anymore it used to, also the motor to alter the flash angle has stopped working, its hardly been used either , any ideas please ?

I own the YN565EX. The flash accidentally felt on the floor, and reflective board came under its cover. Can you help me please with the advice on how to open the reflective board cover (the cover above the flash tube). Whether a force is required and a sharp knife, or there is a simple trick. Thank you!
Friend when such cases occur ? something happened to me was because I put the same but inadvertently batteries with opposite poles and reheated , I took the batteries immediately and let cool and then try again and no longer on. Do you think that this technique will serve me ?
Hi! I have a Yongnuo 560 IV and my problem is that in the room the flash work perfectly but if I go outside and the temperature is under 10°C the flash doesn't work. If I go back in the room and wait a few minutes (25-30 min) the flash work perfectly again. Can you help for me? Thank you.

this is usually due to insufficient power. all AA batteries are suck, go DIY lithium but be carefull
How did you know the values of the fuse ? (125C & 10 AMP) .... in my YONGNUO YN560IV the fuse has nothing written on it. Do they use the SAME fuses ???

hello can you help me i have the same speedlite theres a display and it firing flash but the problem is when firing flash it has loud spark sound and the fuse is looks like in the video theres some melting white color in the fuse what do you think is the problem? my flash has display and firing the loud sound when firing is the only problem how can i fix it please help thanks.
I try it on my YN 560 IV, but it won't fix it. The symptom is the led display switch on when you hold the power button, but when you let go the button, it will immediately turn off. There's no sound either. Any clue?
I have a Yongnuo YN-560II flash which turns ON but doesn't fire when the Pilot button is pressed. When I put it on my Pentax K-r camera and take a picture, there's a beep sound which the flash makes but there is no light triggered.
I thought it's IGBT RJP4301 was fried so I bought a new from ebay and replaced it inside the flash, but the flash still won't fire.

I have a similar problem with my new 510EX, I'm struggling to open it, Do you know to fix these also? Even with new batteries, when i turn it on i get a very weak brief light from the pilot led. Apart from that it appears dead. It worked once but that's it. Any information would be awesome. Thanks.

Hi i have asimilar problem but in case, the wires are burned, the red and black, i have two pictures, i dont now if the termal fuse can provocate this problem or if other component, i apreciate any halp you can, :)
Hello, does the resistor located where the flash dish is have this combination of colors? Green Brown Black Purple Brown. It burned, I saw the photo on a site where there is a link to this film. Isn't the fourth band by any chance another color like red?

I modified my 560 ii with leads for an external power source. When I reassembled, found that my hotshoe no longer works. Any idea how I can troubleshoot an fix this?
if you mod by connecting external power directly to batt terminals hotshoe should not be affected, double check the ribbon connectors, use a good switch cleaner
I have a YN565EX, mine turns on and all information as normal shows in LCD screen, however I can't use any dials to set anything, nor will it test fire or fire on two body cameras. Would this be the Capacitor or something else ?

wait, this means you are making a bridge in the fuse, so if you have a problem it will destroy you flash without it right ? the cleanest solution would be changing the fuse then
well, the flash price is very low to try and fix it. if you have an easy fix for a flash like this, its better. usualy after this kind of flash is broken, ppl trash it and buy a new one.

hello, I have also yongnuo, and a specific problem since recent. ettl mode doesn't work...wireless or in hotshoe it fires and everything seems normal, except picture is dark, like the flash has not fired. In all other modes then ettl it works normally. Since now I havent found anyone with solution for this problem...:/
you probably shooting beyond the 1/200 second using manual speedlite, if so lower your shutter speed and try again. if your speedlite is HSS capable make sure the HSSync button is pressed. / displayed

This didn't work for me. Instead it got very hot very quickly. So something is the matter. I'm thinking it's not worth melting myself.
Thomas Wood then you have another problem which made your fuse to blow. You can't use it in both cases with fuse or without, until you will not fix the main problem.

your shutter speed should be from 30 seconds up to 1/250th, not more. Try at 1/60th for example.
