A few of my own notes :
[1] Alt+Enter is your friend for max resolution screen view
[2] With a modernish system + a medium-spec GeForce / Radeon 3D Accelerator, you should max the EVERYTHING - slap those sliders to their maximum ! Give them what will kill them, and don't back them off a little..
[3] having done these two things, FS2004 is actually a rather compelling thing
The view at 3:21 is lackluster for not being maxed out - max that thing, and you'll find it really enjoyable despite its age :-)
Lol its usually maxed out, that was just a fresh install so that I could apply the patch to the original executable. I've been playing since I was a little kid and I still remember the days when I thought that no computer could ever run FS2004 at higher than low graphics because it was such an intense game, and now even my old craptop runs it like butter. Ah, good times :')
But the alt menu in fullscreen mode didn't work well.

I just subbed to your channel. My question for you is, I no longer have the discs from 2004, I see some guy has got a cracked version out in utube, can this possiabley be a valid program? I have an xp desk top with a hard drive that won't boot up with the game,at least $500 paid addons, plus freebees that were out there at that time. Long story have not played for 6 years and would like to try this on my new lapper, and have to look at the comp I will have to buy to run 2020. Thanks Moo if you read this.
Hey, thanks for subscribing! Its unfortunate to hear you no longer have the original discs; I absolutely love optical media and having a copy of a game to stare at on my shelf is part of the whole game-playing experience for me. I'd say that free downloads off of UA-cam are really hit or miss, I've done it many times before with some success, however many turned out to be scams or viruses. First and foremost, I always recommend buying the game because I believe that the developer deserves to be paid for their work if I really like it. However, some games are just too old and can no longer be found in physical or online storefronts for a reasonable price, and there's really no choice other than to acquire it through "back channels". I'd recommend searching Abandonware sites like myabandonware.com and even the Internet Archive, but I already checked the ones I frequent to with no avail. If you do choose to download it from the UA-cam video, please be weary and listen to your antivirus software if it acts up. If it downloads a .exe file claiming to be some sort of "downloader", don't run it, as it too is a scam. I know for a fact that there are people out there who upload clean copies of games and I'm sure you can find one out there. In the meantime, I'll look into uploading my discs to the Internet Archive; I see there is already the french version of the game up there and it hasn't been taken down so Microsoft might not be policing it anymore. Anyhow, I wish you luck in your search and I hope 2020 turns out to be the flight simulator we've been waiting for. Fly safe!
Thank you so much for that quick reply. I figured there was no safe way to download that whole sim. My best bet is to get off my arse and get that old comp up and running again. I logged close to 2k hours running that game. Now in semi retirement I once again have the time. Or just wait till 2020 comes out, looks like that is going to be stored in the cloud. You are right on about being able to hold something in your hand, and my mistake to loan it to someone. Thanks Moo

This works for me, but I notice the no-CD patch is fs 9, the original version, not fs 9.1, which Microsoft released in 2004. Is there a 9.1 version of this patch? I believe version 9.1 fixed a lot of stability issues.

I subscribed. I may try that. It may run on my new second drive on vista, without this. But I bookmarked this video and may try that too. I am running X-Plane 10 quite well, on windows 10. P8Z77-V LX (Intel socket 1155) Core i5 3570K 32GB Patriot Viper III (4 slots x 8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz memory. My motherboard manual says it can use as high as 2400 MHz memory
Just remember that older applications such as FS2004 and FSX are 32-bit and can't fully take advantage of newer hardware. I can run 2004 at max settings at 60fps on my RTX 2070/i7-9700k build, but no computer in the world exists that can run FSX at 60fps 1920x1080 at max settings in an autogen and traffic dense area
@@AdmiralMoo Hello, can it run on Intel HD Graphics? I have done everything and it just goes to "fullscreen" 800x600 but nothing appears and in task manager it says "not responding" and it stays at 38-40MB RAM usage.
microsoft games isnt in my program files what do i do?
Check in "Program Files (x86)" instead of just "Program Files". If it's not there, you might have installed the game to a different drive when you set it up

How to play flight sim 2024
I have a Win 10 PC, and was able to get FSX 2006 installed and working fine..however when I installed Flight Sim 2004 it messed up the FSX 2006 , does anyone know if it's possible to get both games working on the same PC.
Hello, sorry for the late response, i've been rather busy with work and school lately. As long as I can remember, I've been able to run FSX and FS2004 on the same PC without any issue. What did you mean by "messed up"? Were there any error messages? What was different about FSX after installing FS2004?
@@AdmiralMoo well, I first installed FSX on Win 10 and it was fully operational....after playing it a while, I then installed FS 2004 ( the 4 disk set ) and found the FSX startup icon was overwritten and replaced with the FS 2004 icon, however when clicking the FS2004 " run" ...nothing happens....and I could not figure out how to get the FSX to start ....however I could still see the FSX files still there...I reinserted the FSX disk 1 and it asked if I wanted to " repair" the installation.....I clicked yes, and after quite a while of following the screen prompts , the FSX finally came back to life and working again ...as far as I can tell all the files for FS 2004 have installed, and the icon is there but it will not run....so right now I am happy to just have FSX operational....but would like to have both....thanks
That's odd, but it sounds like both programs' installations are intact. If you havent tried already, reinstall the No-Cd patch for Flight Simulator 2004 (like I did in the video) and run it as an administrator. It shouldnt affect Flight Simulator X in any way.

Well, I have a file names setup.exe but that doesn't work (I think because it's from Windows XP) so I cannot instal FS2004, any help?
I don't exactly know what you're trying to say, but from what I understand, you're trying to install the game. The installation has worked for me on many different computers running Windows 10 since its release in 2015, so if you're having problems with the installation, its most likely not a matter of compatability and rather your discs losing readability. This can happen over time even if they're stored in improper conditions, regardless of wether the surface is scratched or gouged. You can try running the setup as an administrator, but it should ask you to do that anyways. Are there any error messages? What do you mean by "it doesn't work"?
@@AdmiralMoo There is a file named setup.exe and I want to run it as administrator but I think there is some compatibility problem because that .exe file is from 2003. But i figured out I can run it on a virtualmachine.
My laptop can open it and its windows 10
