its so refreshing to see a youtuber using common man tools and techniques .... it came out great man.... thanks for representing the 99% of woodworkers/makers
@@makeit5272 I was thinking the same thing. I love watching creators grow their abilities and shops but seeing everything get CNC'd and 3D printed is disheartening for a limited tools guy like me.
No complaints no negative comments. That's why you have these shows on tv & social media. I learned something out of this! I do it for 3 reasons: enjoying the skills of making woodworking.& furniture, hobbies & repairs. Making a living ? That's okay too. Expensive? What isn't. That's why all these TV shows have sponsors & supply the power tools the woodworkers operate on air! Very good job! 👷👋👋👋👋👋👋
Appreciate the acknowledgment throughout the video of the limits of your tools and what would have been better right down to the nail choices simply being what was lying around. It often feels like people just have perfect workshops and you come across as very real.
Just about to finish my own desk, and took a lot of inspiration from your build. Gorgeous piece of furniture and thank you for a well put together video and the inspiration to make my own desk!
This is a great video man! Thanks for the ideas and for all the people that don't have all these tools remember there's more than one way to make all these cuts and joints.
Awe man. Show me your ways. This is REALLY a blessing to be given the knowledge to duplicate something as insanely creative and beautiful as this desk is
It may have taken a little longer than you planned, but the end result was worth it. I appreciated how some design elements were modified on the fly - problem solving at it's best. Thanks for the video.
Wow!!! Now THAT is really a beautiful desk...and it's genius!!! I love that everything when not being used can be tucked in their hidey holes and all that can be seen is the beautiful wood and craftsmanship!!!! Good job!!
This is what I've been looking for! I use my desktop for gaming and personal use, and on the weekends I use a work laptop and this hidden compartment is perfect for putting my laptop away for the rest of the day until I work again the next morning rather than having it laying around and having my toddler knocking it over or digging it in and out of a laptop bag.
Definitely enjoyed the build. The hidden compartments made the IT geek in me jump for joy. LOL. Truly a great design and build. Keep up the great work.
Wow that came out nice. If you ever find yourself mounting a power strip, here's a neat method. Make a photo copy of the back, then put the photo copy wherever you want to mount it and use an awl to mark the spots for the screws. It lets you be very precise. I've used this a couple times and it works great. Especially if the strip is vertical since you can make sure the paper is in just the right spot before marking the holes.
@rjtumble I've always wondered why there are no thru hole on powerstrips ... I've thrown caution to the wind a few times and drilled holes as close to the corners of the strip... i've been lucky so far.... ;)
Thank you so much for making such a professional video! No waffle, straight to the point and very clearly explained. The desk looks so awesome too! Thanks again!
I love it!! I love your attention to details. Quite impressive. Very nice job of clear views on how you did each step. I appreciate the time you took to talk through each step clearly and precisely. I’ve subscribed to your channel because of this one video. Can’t wait to see more of your work. True craftsmanship is a beautiful dying piece of our society
Really bad ass!! Love it, definitely going to incorporate the hidden storage feature on my next desk. I've used this same method for pallet wood coffee tables but didn't ever occur to me to also incorporate in a desk build. Keep em coming boss! Now..... re-playing again lol
Janie, Thank you! The hidden storage works perfectly for keeping my laptop away from 2 year olds which is the main reason I incorporated this in the desk lol!
This is such a cool desk. And the use of recycled pallet wood is a plus. I don't like the tressel (sawhorse) end, though. It (to me) looks out of place. I would have just extended the top all the way down the side (using pallet wood) in a straight line with maybe a notched out bottom. Great project, though! I'm definitely stealing this idea! lol
Very impressive. Well done. I would make the part of the leg on the left hand side of the desk flush with the desk top as I could see myself bumping into it on a regular basis. Otherwise champion effort.
I really enjoyed the video and as a new woodworker I definitely like the narating. It really helps people like me who are learning. Some videos play music and hold things up to the camera so quickly and I guess we are supposed to know what to do. Really? Thanks for sharing your talent and video, Rodney
That was really nice and was informative as well. I am new to woodworking, but your explanations were very clear and I am going to make my attempt at something like this. Thanks for a great video and clear instructions.
That is awesome your getting into woodworking. It as been a hobby of mine for a few years now and I just really enjoy being in the shop. Good luck with your next build project!
I didn't make a "how to" video on the dust collection box around my miter saw. However, there is a short video clip of it on my Instagram page on how the dust collection box works when removing it and putting it back on. The link to my Instagram page is in the description if you are interested in looking at that. I made it super easy to attach and detach using lever clamps I got at Harbor Freight.
No I unfortunately do not. I was lucky enough that my router table top fit perfecting between the table saw glide rails. It is a great space saver for small shops.
How is the pallet wood holding up as a desk? Great design. Love the hidden compartment with the opening following the size /length of the boards to hide the seam. nicely done

This is really nice. I like how you fixed 2 problems with the magnets for the cable compartment.
Appreciate the acknowledgment throughout the video of the limits of your tools and what would have been better right down to the nail choices simply being what was lying around. It often feels like people just have perfect workshops and you come across as very real.
He comes across as having the perfect workshop to me. I've never even seen some of these tools before.
You said “and that’s it for this one” as if this was a breeze...sheesh! Wish I was this patient and skilled.
Just about to finish my own desk, and took a lot of inspiration from your build.
Gorgeous piece of furniture and thank you for a well put together video and the inspiration to make my own desk!
I have respect for your crafts! But also recording the process and explaining what youre doing is even more challenging +1000
Thank you Nick!
i think so,
This is a great video man! Thanks for the ideas and for all the people that don't have all these tools remember there's more than one way to make all these cuts and joints.
Absolutely love this!!!
I was looking for a hidden compartment for a Bay Window bench seat when I came across this.

This is awesome! I love the hidden storage and the overall look. You have some serious talent. Glad to see your back!
Thank you Twisted Woodshop! It definitely feels good to be back in the shop.
Yes, he has a nice and muscular back!
I wish you would make more videos! I have been looking for a good desk idea and build of it and WOOOOW this is the best I have ever seen.
Nice job. It's amazing what you can accomplish with some old pallets and a bit of imagination.
I love it so smart to add a computer compartment
I really like using the knothole look to hide the cable management hole, it really blends in.
Definitely enjoyed the build. The hidden compartments made the IT geek in me jump for joy. LOL. Truly a great design and build. Keep up the great work.
Great desk! I've been thinking about building a desk to replace my Office Depot crap desk. This looks perfect!
you got me with that knot hole. Brilliant!

pretty cool. I think it might raise up better if you use that second hole, and either use spacers and a bar.
