she can't stop smiling becuase she's grateful to her audience. She feels the love coming from people and she almost can't belive all this love is possible. I hope she will always remain so sincere.
6.4 is an awesome rating for such boring indulgent record. ethel thinks she's genius and people want to listen this repetative 8 minute songs but nothing can be further from reality. and if this low-energy off-key performance is 'performance of a lifetime' for you than you should consider speaking less in public i guess
It's 2024 & you will be happy to hear that I'm just discovering this brilliant Artist. My Teens were in the 70's with Artists like Dylan, J Taylor, Mitchell ... they were my Life's soundtracks. Not since then have I been truly moved by similar authenticity. I, too, hope that she grows in popularity - not so much for "attention she deserves" but moreover, for the Creative Minds that she can inspire.
House in Nebraska will forever make me choke up. But the drums, are insane. They act as the heart beat the the song. You can feel them in the back of your throat in the last few minutes of the track
I find her voice and music so unique that some would think it is weird. Her music is great because it is not the typical run of the mill same crap. It stands out and with the melody, it hooks you. Her music videos are the same style. Music reminds me of Mazzy Star.
Jesus... So perfect I'm listening her albúm for 1 year almost and never get tired of her lyrics, her voice, her emotions aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Love u Ethel
When I listen to this incredible Artist I feel so inspired - I want to suddenly rummage out my Paintbox ... or sharpen my Ink Quills and scribe a single beautiful Word on blank Paper .... Create. Not since Joni Mitchell in 1979 have I had such an urge to express my Life in Poetic phrases.
I just found this artist, cause I was looking up pitchfork music fest, and wanted to know what type of music I would potentially be going to see, and I got to her song Hard Times, it's such an amazing experience when you feel the emotion come through the voice, cause that went right through me, I really wasn't ready, didn't have my guard up, this is gonna be one of my all time favorite songs now
I love you Ethal. My best friend, though I don't you, prolly never will, but I can heaf your music for hours and it is like meditation and I feel you, your message, your lyrics, every beat
Anybody else half-expect (or want?) the guitarist to launch into a Journey-style arpeggio (a la "Don't Stop Believing") when he hits that epic bit in American Teenager?
I think she’ll get better and better the more she tours.. similar to del Rey when she was nervous and had average performances when she first blew up..
Someone just show up to his house and tell him to stop making songs about Jake Cormier and I. We dated for 5 and a half years he could get over it and move on. He is now taking out sharp objects and pretending he will do something about a dead relationship. TAKE THIS DOWN OR I SUE HIM.
Amazing voice, I just wish she had more stage presence. I don’t think she has to be a dancer or anything but she lacks what Lana Del Rey or Florence has. Just need to feel like she’s more connected with the crowd and songs. But she’s new to performing to crowds of this size, it’ll probably come with time.

Eargasm

Opening with dust bowl is so unhinged yet so perfect

For 2 people her band is just amazing too. Wow!
We are witnessing the birth of a genius and we're probably not aware of that.
Love you Hayden.
HER names ethel
@@Nothanks66 apparently she is okay with both names.
She released PD as Ethel Cain but I don't know if she will use it as a permanent stage name.
@@Nothanks66 ethel is her stage name and the name of the character in her music.
It’s a shame pitchfork gave the album such a horrid rating when she gave the performance of a lifetime for their festival
Pitchfork reviews are usually a crock of shite. It has to be massively avant garde and experimental and then they rave about it.
Pitchfork hasn’t been relevant for a while.
@@AdamMaekju more like it has to be a generic "empowering" pop album

it was so cathartic to see her belting on the mic singing family tree, seeing that she seemed a bit shy on the first few songs
She’s so beautiful I love mother
just another boring lana wannabe
May I ask why she's called Mother?
She doesn't look to be old enough to be somebody's Mother.
@@cjh4427 it’s a sarcastic internet/meme/stan thing. it’s a fun way of saying somebody’s amazing, not a literal mother haha

nothing makes me smile quite like seeing your comments on all of Ethel's videos. the love is incredible.
Your daughter is magic. 💚
omgg she sounds just like the studio versions
for some reason she seems so reclined and nervous in this performance and its just makes it even better like the songs feel so real and vulnerable.
This guitarist is so good!! Drums too, way to go

I put her up in the Bowie & Maynard league. Yea I said it. A breath of fresh air . Thank you ethel
Such control. Thanks for the upload
They seriously need a bass player
Makes it easier to jam along on bass in your bed (which I happened to be doing when I found your comment 💙)
Petition to end playing with backing tracks? They are so quiet in the mix and just make the performance so inorganic.
