Fifty years old, grew up listening to Clash, Jam, Police, Depeche Mode, Souxie, New Order/Joy Division etc. Then discovered Sabbath, AC/DC, Van FUCKING Halen, Maiden and Purple. Then there was Nirvana, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc etc. Then came Oasis (if you weren't a working class Brit in the nineties you'll never understand). After that music died for me, it was all streaming and whatnot and Neil Young stopped making half decent albums, so I turned off the radio and withdrew into my rather large music collection. Then I found an NPR tiny desk that made me buy this album. Can't remember being so blown away on first listen by an album as Remind Me Tomorrow. Two weeks later it's still on constant repeat. My top three were Doolittle, The Stone Roses and Nevermind. One of them will soon be replaced, because this record is so bloody good.
Stripped back, clean, lo-fi, with SVE's voice central - even with a few imperfections, it's much better and fresher than the overproduced, flat studio album recordings. Also... love the lyrics to No One's Easy to Love. For me, it's a song about still being in love with someone, some time after you've separated and are meant to have moved on.
Saw her open for Wilco at Chicago Theater in December, 2019. The venue was far too big and her beautiful music was swallowed up and disappeared. This is a significantly better venue. More intimate-fits her sound much better.
I WISH I had been here for this! This venue is teeny-tiny and not normally used for national (global?) artists; I think the radio station (The Current) arranged this microshow while she was in town for a show at First Avenue. I think they only gave away tickets (no sales). BTW they rocked First Avenue. I've also seen her at Pitchfork, and she owned that stage as well.
00:00 - Comeback Kid.
03:18 - No One's Easy to Love.
08:00 - Seventeen.
12:48 - Hands.
18:10 - Stay.
I can't believe I've only just discovered her. She's bloody brilliant. Refreshing raw talent.
UA-cam decides when you are ready for this, then recommends.
I feel the same way!
That's what I thought when I discovered she had already been to Saskatoon. I was gutted.
The latest album is giving me goose pimples.
and I just discover her this month
I would love for Sharon Van Etten to release a Live Album. I really like the album version of Hands, but this live version of it is so much better.
I LOVE this!! I watch it at least 3X a week!
Sharon's fantastic, but don't forget Heather Wodds Broderick

Wonderful performance. That keyboard bit to end "Stay" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.

The second song have something of Famous blue raincout of Leonard cohen. All beautiful
Came to love Sharon, now coming to love Heather Woods Broderick's solo stuff too. Different, but also immense. She is a big part of this sound.
Life Affirming beauty..
I wished the concert in Paradiso Amsterdam would have been this intimate
just wow
15:06 The camera operator is all of us watching this video 😂
Está mujer es de otro mundo.
I like how this version reveals a song about NY to be secretly a country song.
Keyboard: Heather Woods Broderick
I love every iteration of SVE's music. Would love to hear the early versions when she was using a Jupiter 5 from Michael Cera.
Wow. How could you know so much about music?
Congratulations
Off to see Shaz next week in Leeds. Mucho excitemento!
Excellent I was at that show at the Stylus.
Soooo good!
we need Sharon ft Lorde! and a big dark song!
Keren bangat nih lagu. Stay '
Also, love the accidental adventurous dissonance of her playing Bm/F and Em/F at 6:03.
And even more about guitar? Brilliant we thinks of you!
Very very good
Back when she had long hair 😮💜🤘
So. Fucking. Good. The end of Hands- incroyable.

Sarah Connor on the keyboard, nice
Keyboard: Heather Woods Broderick
Mother of the future
I get the feeling they had to cut the applause down after Seventeen because it went on way too long.
!!!
OP!

Where's Devin?
See you to Paris Sharon #lamaroquinerie
não faz assim, sharon
sharon must have lost my invitation to this show...
Fuck to the sake. Ripped me a new one AGAIN
Modern day Joni Mitchell...
I really don't like synthesized percussion. It may be fine for practicing, but not in a performance.
Oh come on, don't be such a purist. And anyway, someone had to stay home and look after the baby that day :-)
@@stevelowman8334 Just expressing an opinion. I like acoustic instruments, and seeing a musician produce the rhythms.
Cool story
Oh, pipe down, silly pants. X
Not always appropriate for a small venue however
Too much electronics
voice sounds like someone being water boarded, terrible
