When i was in Vietnam practicing this art i was overwhelmed with form this art , it has more form then when I practice Kung fu jeeze christ. Then I move on Vocu truyen that art is one the true traditional art. Also I ran into a rare Vietnamese version of Muay Thai/ Trad vietnamese style I didn't get the name of the style. But the master moved to France to teach the style. Just like when I rare type of vietnames people that didn't speak vietnamese but this strange language up in the mountain.
lol. When I was researching it I noticed that there were tons of forms and techniques. What was your favorite part about the art? I think I did hear about an indigenous Kickboxing style but I ran out of time. Maybe close to Muay Lao or Pradel Serey.
@@UnknownFeng When I was in Vietnam day 1 doing first form I was like "I got this" and then trying to learn other forms. I was like "Sheesh what they trying to do my knees. is this silat or karate wtf is this. Ok this is karate/kung. I was doing like karate stance with kung fu crossing legs , then this silat kick on a form, " The sparring felt like a TKD gathering but looking like a smurf. They didn't let me do low legs just like in TKD. they have some interesting strikes and take down.. i saw some kind of judo in their. I felt like a Combat version of TKD with VN flavor. it was interesting Then I gave up on vovinam, to start learning Voco truyen that they have different kind of sweeps, Again I saw that silat kick again. i ask what the application. But they didn't give answer till my ranking got up.. But the rare kickboxing/trad VMA I felt like I was home working on the bags. It was like Sanda idk What that was. All I know the Teacher went to France to be a cook. He taught me how make spring roll , explain to me pho is french/Chinese cuisine. I made alot friends since there tons of people try practice their English..like on My contact phone was 3,000. Sometimes I would answer the phone "Hello, this is hung" sigh If I had time I tell would them to meat at coffee shop. becuase I would know 20 hungs or Ngo..
It really is a blend of various martial arts. I'm surprised they were able to organize so many different conflicting techniques. I hope the art continues to evolve and grow.
@@UnknownFeng Yea, it's amalgamation of tons of art together I felt overwhelmed learning it. Also in Vietnam they view martial art as a hobby. They aren't into violence but they focus more on making money (I was doing the same time). Like I was in Taiwan There was a lot Kung fu people willing to teach for free in clubs. Like in Vietnam I have really look hard for Collegue which had Martial arts clubs that teach for free. Then you gain tons of friends trying to learn English. Some were cool and some where around what I call "English vampires" Which I didn't mind because I was trying to learn Vietnamese to access more serious jobs that would make me the Boss AKA my own building and so on.
I can definitely see the tekken team doing something with this martial art. Awesome video bro.
Thanks Man. You’re killing it with yours as well. Let’s do a collab one of these days.
@@UnknownFeng Ayye thanks man, I'd definitely would be down for that.
They list Luong from King of Fighters as a Tae Kwon Do practitioner but I really think she does Voivinam.
I saw her trailer. It’s an interesting style. I think that Black Widow definitely does it.
@@UnknownFeng I am there is not a single hapkido and Taekkyeon fighter in any of these fighting games
It looks like a cool art, I know they would make the character sick to play. They always give the martial art and the character justice.
I think giving her acrobatic throws would make her fun to use. Plus it would be one of the few times seeing a Vietnamese Martial art.

there are many vietnamese fighter who fight in mma with actual record but most of them use muay thai or thai boxing not vovinam
Yea. I noticed that. Cung Le did TKD and Kung Fu. Bi Nguyen does Muay Thai. How about in Vietnam?
@@UnknownFeng we got duy nhat the world muay thai champion and a bunch of other titles
That’s awesome!! We’ll check them out right now. Thanks for letting us know.
Tekken 8 ? Hell yeah
