While he did give up on fatalis he said in his reaction videos to wilds trailer that he would come back to world as the release of wilds gets closer so maybe he'll start using more mechanics.
After watching him on Velkhana he's dropping it immediately after Shara 100%. Also him failing the 1st try on Velk and getting 1 reward and it's a crystal almost made me tackle my monitor.

That's only like 100k total if you make fangs too. I think it's because he's upgrading multiple weapons, because that's how your money evaporates. And if he ever used more than one weapon frequently, that would be even faster and constant.

the most frustrating thing is seeing his chat trying to tell him what to do and just being objectively wrong... Instead of giving him the critical information he needs to actually figure shit out himself they just jump straight to the "solution" and half the time it's not even the correct one... Like the amount of people who tried getting him to switch from the wyvern ignition to the Nergi GS saying it was better... No, it's not, not at any point in the game is the nergi GS the best weapon... It might be very comfortable with it's large sharpness bar, but not getting white sharpness and being unable to use elementless makes it objectively worse for dmg than alot of other options like the wyvern ignition. He's not dumb, he's put thousands of hours into RPG's he's surely been around the block theorycrafting and minmaxing before, so if he just gets the information about how stuff works he can figure it out himself... for example tell him about the sharpness modifiers and he'll be able to math out why the Wyvern Ignition is better...

Later Asmon was farming Nergigante offstream and he said he had trouble dodging the dive to the point he started guarding then healing afterwards. So you probably don't need Guard Up, but it probably still hurts like hell and kills your sharpness. (That's why I stan whetfish)
He didn't know about the spikes until somewhat recently so he was always with his weapon out probably. You can totally just gauge the dive bomb by noticing the last white zone is about to turn black and play conservatively until he does it.
woah i remembered when farming nergigante 4 man pub. when nergy use that super dive bomb its always 1-2 man carted. man superman dive timing is hard to learnt.
guys got good positional awareness but he plays with tunnel vision and played far to long into the game without realizing the power of tackle or wall banging despite doing the tutorial.

I use Gold Rathian Chest and Waist and I’m proud. Divine Blessing is amazing. SnS main here: You can NOT block the dive bomb of murder without Guard Up. I love that gem, and I melded it first chance I got. I also forged and maxed out the Ironwall talisman. I always use them, and I love it. I run a tank build, and I use Lunastra/Nergi SnS with max Health Regen augment. Stun Immunity, Resistor, and Health Boost, as well.
9:42 they only shoot out in the direction of the hand that he raises higher, same with when he's mid air. If he lifts his left arm, the spikes shoot out the left side, so you dodge right.
Only applicable if he's directly in front of you, otherwise there's no time to go around. And that's hardly ever the case when you bring your palico, it's best to just assume the whole screen will be wiped.

So as i did in the past i watched some of your guides and i really gotto thank you man. No one explains them so good for me, as you do. Now Hammer and SnS are some of the weapons i absolutely love the most!
I remember soneone in his chat saying defence skills are useless.... If higher defence turns a 1-shot into a 2-shot or even a 3-shot, then it's pretty useful. Almost no one is an i-frame god or a speedrunner and finishing a hunt in 25 minutes instead of 20 is better than wasting 50 minutes carting to the slightest mistake.
He must be a pro maybe, as if you not get the monster hitbox and timing by instinct to evade or to position yourself, you need those def skills in your skill set build otherwise its few hit KO. :3
Higher defense is especially good if you are learning a new monster or a new weapon as you will make more mistakes. And fighting new Monsters you dont know with Greatsword is extra punishing and sth like Nergigante on top. This thing can dive kill you so easily in his last fighting arena on this hunt.
Just don't follow any arrogant vaterans.. good vateran should know what newbie skill and what they are capable. Don't shame using any defensive skills. After competent learn all the monster attack pattern. Then slap more dmg deco to your gear.
As a brand new player in September 2024, watching both your beginners guide and analysis on asmons gameplay it has 100% made a much better noob as I would have on my own. Decided to main hammer and i literally take any and every opportunity to use the big aerial spin either off a ledge on a slope or off the wall. I love my big beyblade bonk!
Unfortunately It feels like Asmon might burn out after his Velkhana fight took him about 30 minutes. He still isn't using most of the games toolset and I'm not trying to be gatekeepey here but I really think especially with GS in master rank you need to go for the flashpods and wallbangs to create openings for TCS otherwise fights just become a slog.
You can have your opinion, but I disagree. You don’t ever have to do anything. It’s a game, play how you want with whatever weapon you want. Some weapons make the game easier, and some skills and items make the game easier. If asmon used the best weapon with the best skills and got overgeared people will complain. If he doesn’t use anything and goes in naked people will complain. Might as well play how you want. If he quits it’s fine, as long as he knows he made the game harder for himself.
I've said this elsewhere, but he probably won't finish due to how he plays. It's entertaining seeing him go through it, but not using most of the tools outside of charging up his sword has caused him frustrations with certain bosses (especially Velkhana). At best, he'll get to Alatreon and give up due to how difficult it'd be to solo.

What i found funny about asmon is that everyone told him not to use defender gear but asmon basically made a sudo defender set accidentally, it's been full tank hb+3 db+3 some evade extender some evasion window and resuscitate skill, i pissed myself laughing when he tried giving bs excuses why his refusal to use the temporal mantle wasn't ego driven like just use it bro who cares
That's the same thing ppl say about Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring, that "real" Dark Souls players don't use them. But it's in the game and helps open the game up to a wider audience than Dark Souls had, which is a great thing because the more ppl that buy and play it the more content is made.
at this point if anyone complains about skills like divine blessing then they must remove their attack boost, crit eye, crit boost, weakness exploit skills from their sets if they are going to gate keep then be ready to have the same done to them 😂
Completely fair, only started playing recently but finished the zorah questline and up to nergi without help, after that I started playing with a friend and they had me get the meta crit gear, they weren’t pushy about it or anything but I didn’t know much about the game, still don’t, but it had better defence than my gear at the time so I was fine with it, being honest my natural instinct would be to do what asmon did and get hp boost, defence boost and divine blessing gear, along with attack boost if I could manage. Been fun, loved xeno’jiiva despite the horn farm being the most frustrated I’ve actually been with the game.

I agree with the divine blessing. You are using crutches if you can't beat the entirety of the game from LR to MR with straight-up no armor and base iron weapons.
One thing I have to mention regarding the positioning in Monster Hunter. Years before playing it I played a lot of soulslike games and because of that I had no problem whatsoever in dodging stuff. I don't watch asmongold by myself but he also plays a lot of games with those mechanics. I wouldn't say that monster hunter is easier but it is definitely way easier if you played sort of soulslike games in the past.
21:34 as a GS main, I actually disagree here. After getting staggered by the roar before the dive, in the wrong direction nonetheless, you CAN'T sheathe and supermandive in time anymore without quicksheathe. Only chance is to block.
His chat is absurdly bad with advice, luckily he doesn't get to stare at it much while in the middle of the hunts. It's a pain when in Astera and he's actively asking about things though.
Man, watching these asmon ruri react videos is really making me want to play again! I never played Iceborne but nolifed MH:W when it first came out up to the point where I think they were releasing the 2nd or 3rd wave of new monsters. Is Iceborne worth a look?
The only reliable way to deal with the dive bomb: Lv. 4 earplugs and superman dive. I quest failed (and I mean triple carted) Nergigante about 2 or 3 times in a row, when I had to fight him the first time before I found out. I almost exlusively died to this single attack. Also, a good indicator for me, when he does the dive bomb, his roar sounds different than usual. His normal roar is like the one at 16:16, in which he does a voiced roar. When he does roar directly before the dive bomb, it sounds more like he is burping like in 21:29. I don't know, if this is correct or if I'am talking bs here, but it was always that way when I fought him.
No you don't need earplugs. You can have your weapon out (in my case GS) and he'll roar and you have time to press right bumper and then dive to avoid the spikes

Without earplugs, I don't even have the time to sheathe my weapon, let alone to start running and do the superman dive. My character won't finish sh'tting his pants from that roar until he dies from the dive bomb.
@@angriboi that's very odd. I can check my build, but at the very most I'd have only had 2 levels of earplugs. It's pretty close, he's headed down before I start the dive but its workable
More like depressing. He bans people for using caps on "tackle" and goes "Nobody should talk to me Like that". Yet he forgets that the chat has tens of messages per second so people want to reach him. And he fucking refuses to learn in the game or from people. I dont get all this pandering. But i like that he helps promote the game.
Disappointingly, it seems like after the Seething Bazel fight he said "if things get harder than this I'll probably leave". It's kinda his fault, i don't I've seen him utilize any of the mantles and he can't just brute force through everything.
he's kind of being punished for being so stubborn about not utilising some of the game mechanics. Even simple stuff like taking the iceproof mantle for velkhana or giving yourself immunity for monsters that spam status effects. Sure, you don't have to have these things but its also making it unnecessarily difficult for yourself.
Seething bagel is fun. Way more fun than original bazel. I hate the original. Also yeah someone who leaves because its hard and playing darksouls alot is idk what to say
you can guard the dive attack but you will need a few lvl's of guard and im not sure this would be enough for greatsword. im a charge blade main and i love guard pointing the dive had some nice kills by these guard point aswell always feels good 😅
at 12:24 he ran in to the hit box.....that whole dive has a very big hit box if ur near him once he lands even if the dive dont hit ya.....also its a elder dragon of course its not gonna be fair + hes the mhw icon elder dragon
That's why the Charge Blade is superior, it has a pity shockwave for when you're just a little short of the perfect Super Elemental Discharge, and still very satisfying breaks when you're spot on. Watching NERD-gigante reel as his horn flies off to the big face bash is great. Also, I think you can block that attack. It's surprising how much you can block. Diablos is a joke once your realize. Also also, you're right about going cocky. Shot and Anjanath out of its jump with a charge dragonpiercer while learning bow. They do a little backflip when they fall, it's pretty neat. And Exploit Weakness is +10/15/30% affinity to weak points, +5/15/20% Affinity to wounded parts. I know that 'softening' a part can turn it into what is considered a 'weak point' by increasing the zone value, but I'm not sure if being 'softened' constitutes being wounded. I'm fairly certain 'broken' parts count as wounded though. So it's up to 50% affinity for level 3, which if you're using the clutch claw effectively means 'the part you softened'.
I think you should see Asmon on dat one time when he learned how to tackle. If i remember correctly, it's in his MR Radobaan hunt with the thumbmail/title of "Tackle changed my life"
Asmongold first tried Nergigante without even fully utilizing his weapon's moveset? Damn I never knew greatsword was that easy, you really can just slap stuff with basic uncharged attacks and win. I used longsword and failed the whole quest twice before I defeated him, he carted me a total of 8 times (granted I had been using insect glaive for the whole game and only recently started trying out the longsword when I fought nerg)
I dont get u, longsword is basically a bunch of uncharged gs attacks, but they’re quicker, more evasive, and can lead to counters Asmon just did better than u, just admit it. Also u were learning a new weapon, while Asmon was using GS the entire game, so of course he outshined u
He uses it a bit fighting velk & bagel. I think he simply just don't know those monsters well. Also I think he don't rly use kick tackle or roll tackle so that's that
Hi, nothing to do with Asmon, but I have a question as someone who recently picked up MH and still doing early game stuff - I have been trying to hunt down the Rathalos in expeditions and each time the bugger ends up "leaving the locale". Is there something I should be doing to prevent that? Or am I just getting unlucky? Or are expeditions just shit for hunting certain monsters?
Expeditions suck for monsters that are out of the range of your gear. I don't know where you are in the game, but unless you have the story quest to fight him, I'd just recommend continuing with the game and getting better gear
Expeditions are mostly for collecting stuff and learning the map without having a timer. There are actually some pretty neat stuff to unlock, like more camps, Palico tribes, and of course collecting Wild Life to decorate your room! You can hunt the Big Monsters, but yeah, they might leave the locale and make you waste your time.
Yeah you can block Nerg's Super Dive without Guard Up. Though you want multiple points in Guard otherwise it will still wreck you.(Well maybe not Lance's Power Guard mode but I can't recall if you need guard skill when using that against the dive.)

I love using Divine Blessing with my Lance. I am VERY hard to kill. I can park myself in KT's magma breath and not worry at all. I invalidate almost every attack
Not one single time! And he’s in iceborne with HR armour last I saw. He was doing really well but I think he’ll quit soon as velkhana destroyed him and he was miserable

rofl yeah from what I have seen his chat is 70% people that think they can guess what is going on and give horrible advice to either troll him or just to try to get lucky and be right. 25% of his chat are people that played the game and quit after beating the title bosses, know a bit about armor but give him recommendations based on armor they liked using instead of what is actually meta or even near a good for his weapon. So many times I saw him looking at armor after killing a new boss, and a bunch of people in chat are like "that armor skill and set is so awesome, it's totally the best." and it's basically garbage for GS and for the way Asmond plays(like some dudes trying to get him to stack KO for GS....and Asmond didn't even know about tackle then either). or he will look at a new GS and those 75% that know nothing about the game will get all loud talking about how awesome it is based on looks. About 5% of his chat actually know what they are talking about when it comes to builds, weapon use and how the monsters behave, but most of the time they are drowned out. luckily as he has played more and more it seems more knowledgeable players are joining his chat and actually getting through in chat some times, maybe more like 1/3 of the chat is giving good advice now.
lot of these "Elitist Hunters" don't wanna people use Divine Blessing, they backseat people to just follow their "way", and despise any other builds, even tho this other builds may be more comfortable for some people
Skills really only start to matter a lot towards the end of the base campaign, and definitely into base endgame/iceborne. Early on, just go for whatever seems to work best for your weapon, and, while it’s nice, don’t over rely on defense to bail you out of situations. Learning positioning and how to avoid attacks altogether will do way more for your overall survivability.
While in Low Rank, try stuff out, there's no wrong choices. So experiment, you can always just hunt more later. This is more true for High rank but what we looks for first is what skills that armor provides. But if you prefer a piece of gear with lower defense you can upgrade it and increase its defense with armor pheres. Doing tasks for the research commission (the girl, wyverian and dwarf guy at entrance), that can be mine 10 things, hunt x monster type etc. That awards armor pheres that you can increase the defense value of your favorite gear. So keep that list updated as you play the game.
My problem with carting... If i die within the first 5 mins of a fight, I'm probably going to lose. While i should keep playing to learn the monsters patterns, i can't help but feel I'm wasting my time. "I'm going to die, i won't get any proper rewards, I'll lose all my items....." I know I'm wrong, but I HATE CARTING!😂
Hey Ruri, might be too much of an ask but can you work on a video regarding the RE(X) engine and what it potentially means for Monster Hunter? Rise,DD2 and Wilds are made with it and since RE engine is forward/backwards compatible, i could imagine much easier ports for example from Rise to Wilds and much less developement needed in the long run. (Also all skeletons we've seen in the Wilds trailer where existent in Rise)
I just did the nergi fight 3 days ago using the event HR armour and SnS when ever nergi did the dive I just used block and it was barely doing damage to me. When I first did the fight with GS in 2018 I remember it being able to block like 90% of the damage but your sharpness ate all that shit if I remember that part correctly .
I guess I'm in the minority. I hate tail chopping. Gunlance main. I'd rather be unloading into the monster's guts. Instead I find myself chasing around it's ass for the first 15 min of my hunts just to get the tail before I accidentally kill it with shelling. Though I'll admit, when I get a stake chop, that does feel really cool.
Peasants discussing if using divine blessing or critical eye is a clutch, while me (an intellectual) use them both just because. Critical damage go brrr while taking no damage.
Your DPS is zero when youre dead. Also, keep in mind that all the no damage speedkills you ever see are heavily curated. Unfortunately, some (dumb) players think that this is how the game is meant to be played and wrinkle their noses at someone not stunlocking Kushala to death is less than 3 minutes.
divine blessing is perfectly fine. but i prefer stun res or speed eating, pretty much any other comfort skill, i'd rather have defense boost even because it works 100% of the time unlike divine blessing which activates by luck.
I've been playing mh for many many years and having some defensive perks is never a bad idea. Health boost is amazing in this game, and divine is pretty good in my opinion. Both of those are cheap too. This game is hard, and you need counter some mechanics. You are to counter some of these mechanics (sadly, i am not used to doing that). I am learning tho

I've been watching all his vods and up to Nergi he hasn't been doing any optional or investigation quests, just b-lining it through main story. So might be why hes low on money.
Tbh, if not for some video I've seen five years ago, I never would've guessed that you can bring down those crystals down. The game never tells you this, and its a completely illogical thing to expect a pebble to break a crystal formation of that size because they are super sturdy.
The Anjanath hunt is the first mention of using hanging rocks that way and then it gets brought up again with the Zorah urgent. So the recipe is there, but not likely to be discovered naturally by a good chunk of hunters.
I'm a Sns main and I absolutely love the Clutch Claw and tenderize. My only gripe is my Mushroomancer build can't fit the Charm that let's me tenderize on one clutch.

Don't forget health boost. Both together can prevent most carts before tempered monsters (even health boost by itself).

I mean, Asmon even lays it out flat. He plays games his way, and is slow on uptake. People screaming at him to "learn" is pretty funny.
the most frustrating thing is seeing his chat trying to tell him what to do and just being objectively wrong... Instead of giving him the critical information he needs to actually figure shit out himself they just jump straight to the "solution" and half the time it's not even the correct one...
Like the amount of people who tried getting him to switch from the wyvern ignition to the Nergi GS saying it was better... No, it's not, not at any point in the game is the nergi GS the best weapon... It might be very comfortable with it's large sharpness bar, but not getting white sharpness and being unable to use elementless makes it objectively worse for dmg than alot of other options like the wyvern ignition.
He's not dumb, he's put thousands of hours into RPG's he's surely been around the block theorycrafting and minmaxing before, so if he just gets the information about how stuff works he can figure it out himself... for example tell him about the sharpness modifiers and he'll be able to math out why the Wyvern Ignition is better...
Okay, go back and see how many games he's tried, not learned properly and when they've punished him for it, called the games shit.

Later Asmon was farming Nergigante offstream and he said he had trouble dodging the dive to the point he started guarding then healing afterwards. So you probably don't need Guard Up, but it probably still hurts like hell and kills your sharpness. (That's why I stan whetfish)
Blocking is better than risking a cart. So if it works, it works.
He should run quick sheath 3 and super man dive those
He didn't know about the spikes until somewhat recently so he was always with his weapon out probably. You can totally just gauge the dive bomb by noticing the last white zone is about to turn black and play conservatively until he does it.
woah i remembered when farming nergigante 4 man pub. when nergy use that super dive bomb its always 1-2 man carted. man superman dive timing is hard to learnt.
guys got good positional awareness but he plays with tunnel vision and played far to long into the game without realizing the power of tackle or wall banging despite doing the tutorial.
I think the lunastra+Telstra really shows off his knowledge of and adaptability to different situations

SnS main here: You can NOT block the dive bomb of murder without Guard Up. I love that gem, and I melded it first chance I got. I also forged and maxed out the Ironwall talisman. I always use them, and I love it. I run a tank build, and I use Lunastra/Nergi SnS with max Health Regen augment. Stun Immunity, Resistor, and Health Boost, as well.

9:42 they only shoot out in the direction of the hand that he raises higher, same with when he's mid air. If he lifts his left arm, the spikes shoot out the left side, so you dodge right.
Only applicable if he's directly in front of you, otherwise there's no time to go around. And that's hardly ever the case when you bring your palico, it's best to just assume the whole screen will be wiped.

Now Hammer and SnS are some of the weapons i absolutely love the most!
I remember soneone in his chat saying defence skills are useless.... If higher defence turns a 1-shot into a 2-shot or even a 3-shot, then it's pretty useful. Almost no one is an i-frame god or a speedrunner and finishing a hunt in 25 minutes instead of 20 is better than wasting 50 minutes carting to the slightest mistake.
He must be a pro maybe, as if you not get the monster hitbox and timing by instinct to evade or to position yourself, you need those def skills in your skill set build otherwise its few hit KO. :3
Higher defense is especially good if you are learning a new monster or a new weapon as you will make more mistakes. And fighting new Monsters you dont know with Greatsword is extra punishing and sth like Nergigante on top. This thing can dive kill you so easily in his last fighting arena on this hunt.
Just don't follow any arrogant vaterans.. good vateran should know what newbie skill and what they are capable. Don't shame using any defensive skills. After competent learn all the monster attack pattern. Then slap more dmg deco to your gear.

As a brand new player in September 2024, watching both your beginners guide and analysis on asmons gameplay it has 100% made a much better noob as I would have on my own. Decided to main hammer and i literally take any and every opportunity to use the big aerial spin either off a ledge on a slope or off the wall. I love my big beyblade bonk!
Unfortunately It feels like Asmon might burn out after his Velkhana fight took him about 30 minutes. He still isn't using most of the games toolset and I'm not trying to be gatekeepey here but I really think especially with GS in master rank you need to go for the flashpods and wallbangs to create openings for TCS otherwise fights just become a slog.
You can have your opinion, but I disagree. You don’t ever have to do anything. It’s a game, play how you want with whatever weapon you want. Some weapons make the game easier, and some skills and items make the game easier. If asmon used the best weapon with the best skills and got overgeared people will complain. If he doesn’t use anything and goes in naked people will complain. Might as well play how you want. If he quits it’s fine, as long as he knows he made the game harder for himself.
I've said this elsewhere, but he probably won't finish due to how he plays. It's entertaining seeing him go through it, but not using most of the tools outside of charging up his sword has caused him frustrations with certain bosses (especially Velkhana).
At best, he'll get to Alatreon and give up due to how difficult it'd be to solo.

What i found funny about asmon is that everyone told him not to use defender gear but asmon basically made a sudo defender set accidentally, it's been full tank hb+3 db+3 some evade extender some evasion window and resuscitate skill, i pissed myself laughing when he tried giving bs excuses why his refusal to use the temporal mantle wasn't ego driven like just use it bro who cares

Dang. Getting 2 Nergigante gems first try is nice. The agitator charm takes 2 of those to upgrade, I had to farm a lot of Nergles to get all of those.
That's the same thing ppl say about Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring, that "real" Dark Souls players don't use them. But it's in the game and helps open the game up to a wider audience than Dark Souls had, which is a great thing because the more ppl that buy and play it the more content is made.
at this point if anyone complains about skills like divine blessing then they must remove their attack boost, crit eye, crit boost, weakness exploit skills from their sets if they are going to gate keep then be ready to have the same done to them 😂
Completely fair, only started playing recently but finished the zorah questline and up to nergi without help, after that I started playing with a friend and they had me get the meta crit gear, they weren’t pushy about it or anything but I didn’t know much about the game, still don’t, but it had better defence than my gear at the time so I was fine with it, being honest my natural instinct would be to do what asmon did and get hp boost, defence boost and divine blessing gear, along with attack boost if I could manage. Been fun, loved xeno’jiiva despite the horn farm being the most frustrated I’ve actually been with the game.

I agree with the divine blessing. You are using crutches if you can't beat the entirety of the game from LR to MR with straight-up no armor and base iron weapons.

One thing I have to mention regarding the positioning in Monster Hunter. Years before playing it I played a lot of soulslike games and because of that I had no problem whatsoever in dodging stuff. I don't watch asmongold by myself but he also plays a lot of games with those mechanics. I wouldn't say that monster hunter is easier but it is definitely way easier if you played sort of soulslike games in the past.

Man, watching these asmon ruri react videos is really making me want to play again! I never played Iceborne but nolifed MH:W when it first came out up to the point where I think they were releasing the 2nd or 3rd wave of new monsters. Is Iceborne worth a look?
The only reliable way to deal with the dive bomb: Lv. 4 earplugs and superman dive. I quest failed (and I mean triple carted) Nergigante about 2 or 3 times in a row, when I had to fight him the first time before I found out. I almost exlusively died to this single attack.
Also, a good indicator for me, when he does the dive bomb, his roar sounds different than usual. His normal roar is like the one at 16:16, in which he does a voiced roar. When he does roar directly before the dive bomb, it sounds more like he is burping like in 21:29. I don't know, if this is correct or if I'am talking bs here, but it was always that way when I fought him.
No you don't need earplugs. You can have your weapon out (in my case GS) and he'll roar and you have time to press right bumper and then dive to avoid the spikes
@@CALAMITY0FHYRULE Guess we're playing two different games here. Without earplugs, I am still stunned by the time, Nergi starts diving. Without earplugs, I don't even have the time to sheathe my weapon, let alone to start running and do the superman dive. My character won't finish sh'tting his pants from that roar until he dies from the dive bomb.

Disappointingly, it seems like after the Seething Bazel fight he said "if things get harder than this I'll probably leave". It's kinda his fault, i don't I've seen him utilize any of the mantles and he can't just brute force through everything.

he's kind of being punished for being so stubborn about not utilising some of the game mechanics. Even simple stuff like taking the iceproof mantle for velkhana or giving yourself immunity for monsters that spam status effects. Sure, you don't have to have these things but its also making it unnecessarily difficult for yourself.

you can guard the dive attack but you will need a few lvl's of guard and im not sure this would be enough for greatsword. im a charge blade main and i love guard pointing the dive had some nice kills by these guard point aswell always feels good 😅

Watching the jerky mouse camera movement in an MH game is so jarring, 1 cart and 2 gems on the first ever Nergi hunt is nuts though, fair play to him
That's why the Charge Blade is superior, it has a pity shockwave for when you're just a little short of the perfect Super Elemental Discharge, and still very satisfying breaks when you're spot on. Watching NERD-gigante reel as his horn flies off to the big face bash is great.
Also, I think you can block that attack. It's surprising how much you can block. Diablos is a joke once your realize.
Also also, you're right about going cocky. Shot and Anjanath out of its jump with a charge dragonpiercer while learning bow. They do a little backflip when they fall, it's pretty neat.
And Exploit Weakness is +10/15/30% affinity to weak points, +5/15/20% Affinity to wounded parts. I know that 'softening' a part can turn it into what is considered a 'weak point' by increasing the zone value, but I'm not sure if being 'softened' constitutes being wounded. I'm fairly certain 'broken' parts count as wounded though. So it's up to 50% affinity for level 3, which if you're using the clutch claw effectively means 'the part you softened'.

Asmongold first tried Nergigante without even fully utilizing his weapon's moveset? Damn I never knew greatsword was that easy, you really can just slap stuff with basic uncharged attacks and win. I used longsword and failed the whole quest twice before I defeated him, he carted me a total of 8 times (granted I had been using insect glaive for the whole game and only recently started trying out the longsword when I fought nerg)
I dont get u, longsword is basically a bunch of uncharged gs attacks, but they’re quicker, more evasive, and can lead to counters

Hi, nothing to do with Asmon, but I have a question as someone who recently picked up MH and still doing early game stuff - I have been trying to hunt down the Rathalos in expeditions and each time the bugger ends up "leaving the locale". Is there something I should be doing to prevent that? Or am I just getting unlucky? Or are expeditions just shit for hunting certain monsters?
Expeditions suck for monsters that are out of the range of your gear. I don't know where you are in the game, but unless you have the story quest to fight him, I'd just recommend continuing with the game and getting better gear

Expeditions are mostly for collecting stuff and learning the map without having a timer. There are actually some pretty neat stuff to unlock, like more camps, Palico tribes, and of course collecting Wild Life to decorate your room! You can hunt the Big Monsters, but yeah, they might leave the locale and make you waste your time.
Sword and shield can tenderize on one hit if you do a roll into a clutch jump and tenderize there.
Regarding the Super dive, can a Lance & Shield withstand it (in guarded stance of course)?
yes, to the point where u might not even need guard skill but im not too sure

Yeah you can block Nerg's Super Dive without Guard Up. Though you want multiple points in Guard otherwise it will still wreck you.(Well maybe not Lance's Power Guard mode but I can't recall if you need guard skill when using that against the dive.)
you can guard it even with just bare SnS shield and it still cuts like 80% of the dmg
If you're using Lance, you can also Counter-Claw and follow him

Divine blessing is in my gear as soon as i have space for it. I think dps is useful, but as soon as i am capped its hb and div bless.
He got hit by that first divebomb because he turned toward nergi right at the end and just made it into the hitbox. If he didn't turn he would have been good

Not one single time! And he’s in iceborne with HR armour last I saw. He was doing really well but I think he’ll quit soon as velkhana destroyed him and he was miserable

I have 1200+ hours in the game so maybe this might sound like I'm being a douche, but it's so frustrating to watch. He only thinks Velkhana was insane because his gear blows. Velkhana isn't that bad

rofl yeah from what I have seen his chat is 70% people that think they can guess what is going on and give horrible advice to either troll him or just to try to get lucky and be right. 25% of his chat are people that played the game and quit after beating the title bosses, know a bit about armor but give him recommendations based on armor they liked using instead of what is actually meta or even near a good for his weapon. So many times I saw him looking at armor after killing a new boss, and a bunch of people in chat are like "that armor skill and set is so awesome, it's totally the best." and it's basically garbage for GS and for the way Asmond plays(like some dudes trying to get him to stack KO for GS....and Asmond didn't even know about tackle then either). or he will look at a new GS and those 75% that know nothing about the game will get all loud talking about how awesome it is based on looks. About 5% of his chat actually know what they are talking about when it comes to builds, weapon use and how the monsters behave, but most of the time they are drowned out. luckily as he has played more and more it seems more knowledgeable players are joining his chat and actually getting through in chat some times, maybe more like 1/3 of the chat is giving good advice now.
lot of these "Elitist Hunters" don't wanna people use Divine Blessing, they backseat people to just follow their "way", and despise any other builds, even tho this other builds may be more comfortable for some people
Hey hunters! Just started hunting. Are the skills through Armor important in the beginning? Or should i care just for raw defense numbers?
Skills really only start to matter a lot towards the end of the base campaign, and definitely into base endgame/iceborne. Early on, just go for whatever seems to work best for your weapon, and, while it’s nice, don’t over rely on defense to bail you out of situations. Learning positioning and how to avoid attacks altogether will do way more for your overall survivability.
While in Low Rank, try stuff out, there's no wrong choices. So experiment, you can always just hunt more later.
This is more true for High rank but what we looks for first is what skills that armor provides. But if you prefer a piece of gear with lower defense you can upgrade it and increase its defense with armor pheres.
Doing tasks for the research commission (the girl, wyverian and dwarf guy at entrance), that can be mine 10 things, hunt x monster type etc. That awards armor pheres that you can increase the defense value of your favorite gear. So keep that list updated as you play the game.
My problem with carting...
If i die within the first 5 mins of a fight, I'm probably going to lose. While i should keep playing to learn the monsters patterns, i can't help but feel I'm wasting my time.
"I'm going to die, i won't get any proper rewards, I'll lose all my items....."

Hey Ruri, might be too much of an ask but can you work on a video regarding the RE(X) engine and what it potentially means for Monster Hunter?
Rise,DD2 and Wilds are made with it and since RE engine is forward/backwards compatible, i could imagine much easier ports for example from Rise to Wilds and much less developement needed in the long run. (Also all skeletons we've seen in the Wilds trailer where existent in Rise)
I'm a lance user I tanked the dive bomb as well as shara's air beam without guard up its possible
defensive skills are damage skills, while you are rolling off blast blight, I am hitting the monster
I just did the nergi fight 3 days ago using the event HR armour and SnS when ever nergi did the dive I just used block and it was barely doing damage to me. When I first did the fight with GS in 2018 I remember it being able to block like 90% of the damage but your sharpness ate all that shit if I remember that part correctly .
I guess I'm in the minority. I hate tail chopping. Gunlance main. I'd rather be unloading into the monster's guts. Instead I find myself chasing around it's ass for the first 15 min of my hunts just to get the tail before I accidentally kill it with shelling.
Though I'll admit, when I get a stake chop, that does feel really cool.
if you go slaplance, you can easily chop tails if you can reach it (looking at you Glavenus and Anjanath)
Tail chopping is great and all, but there's nothing quite as satisfying as breaking Nergigante's or Black Diablos's horns.
Peasants discussing if using divine blessing or critical eye is a clutch, while me (an intellectual) use them both just because. Critical damage go brrr while taking no damage.
Your DPS is zero when youre dead. Also, keep in mind that all the no damage speedkills you ever see are heavily curated. divine blessing is perfectly fine. but i prefer stun res or speed eating, pretty much any other comfort skill, i'd rather have defense boost even because it works 100% of the time unlike divine blessing which activates by luck.
I've been playing mh for many many years and having some defensive perks is never a bad idea. Health boost is amazing in this game, and divine is pretty good in my opinion. Both of those are cheap too. This game is hard, and you need counter some mechanics. You are to counter some of these mechanics (sadly, i am not used to doing that). I am learning tho
And man maybe I should start using great sword, that thing is glorious.

I've been watching all his vods and up to Nergi he hasn't been doing any optional or investigation quests, just b-lining it through main story. So might be why hes low on money.

Tbh, if not for some video I've seen five years ago, I never would've guessed that you can bring down those crystals down. The game never tells you this, and its a completely illogical thing to expect a pebble to break a crystal formation of that size because they are super sturdy.
The Anjanath hunt is the first mention of using hanging rocks that way and then it gets brought up again with the Zorah urgent. So the recipe is there, but not likely to be discovered naturally by a good chunk of hunters.
A lot of People hate tenderizer, but as a "normal shot" hunter. Its a godsent.
I'm a Sns main and I absolutely love the Clutch Claw and tenderize.
My only gripe is my Mushroomancer build can't fit the Charm that let's me tenderize on one clutch.

it is the best u could get normally, the better GS are locked behind Kulve RNG runs and might be too difficult to get @@PeasantForADay
@@PeasantForADay the wyvern ignition is pretty much the best in High Rank, you probably wont need to upgrade it in early Master Rank. I dont remember what i used for GS since its been a bit.
