It's crazy how fast plans can change on the open ocean 🤯 The only constant in a sailor's life is change, and today we found this to be as true as ever. After spending months in the safety of the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia waiting for the cyclone season to pass, we were finally ready to get on the move again. Our plan was to make one last stop in Fatu Hiva which was only about 40 miles away. But once we got out underway, our plans quickly changed from a 40 mile day sail to a 400 mile open ocean crossing!

Ahoy Delos Tribe! Thanks for tuning in to this week's latest episode 😁 If you love coming along on the adventure with us every week, subscribe to our channel so you never miss a new release. It's totally free, super easy, and it actually helps us out so so so much.... Just click the subscribe button above! And if you want to get a notification every time we post a new video, click the little bell icon right next to it. Sending lots of love to each and every one of you!
The day you put the subscribers, who make up the majority of the channel, in the background and gave viewing priority to others, I canceled my subscription and I am not writing comments.
I'm sure I'm not alone in this reaction, but even if I were alone, I couldn't remain silent about the disrespect.
@@ArazQizilbashbruh, at the end of the day it’s a business that funds the lifestyle they want. They don’t have to bring us along on their adventures and let us into their lives but they do and there is a cost to that. Camera equipment and editing software, computers, music licensing deals and so on. YT doesn’t pay what you think just because we subscribe to the channel, so of course ANY business is going to reward its direct investors (Patrons) with a little more priority than those of us who merely click a button or tune in for free. If you don’t have a personal financial investment in the success of this channel and the Troutman family you should just enjoy the content and the 20 minute break from your daily routine like the rest of us and then move on about your day until they post again next week.
@@Master.Daddy.Wicked As a 20-year sailor and someone who has crossed the ocean many times, I appreciate your posts.
I know very well that the YT return and the earnings from investors are thanks to the followers.
They can make special content for the supporters, no one can object to this, but it is disrespectful for them to create castes among the supporters and followers with the same content.
Remember, channels start and grow by saying "subscribe", you will agree that supporters first exist by subscribing and then they contribute.
The caste system created with the same content may not bother you, but I was disturbed and reacted accordingly and expressed it clearly when necessary.
@ArazQizilbash .You must be a lefty and most lefty's want things for nothing and expect everyone to do what they want .and your UA-cam channel shows your just a troll . nobody here gives a crap about what you want .so stop being a child with your crying and leave the adults who run this channel to do as they please with this channel .
I’m sorry I missed the first half! I was in the middle of my 3rd session with “better Help” today!
I’ll try to get 5 sessions in tomorrow! I love mind control
Been watching since Seattle... don't comment very much....but this felt like a vintage Delos episode. It gave all the feelings why I LOVE you guys! Enjoy! ❤️👏
Oh thaks so much Darlene! We love a good passage video, just sailing and the slow pace of living we enjoy while at sea :) So happy you enjoyed this one and thanks so much for coming along for the ride with us 💕
I concur. This was very much a vintage episode vibe. Loved it.
+
Agreed...I really enjoyed it!
Same here! 🎉
Just watched your tattoo session on "Elixir"........ The swallows are looking awesome!! Remember, when life brings you a rough patch of sea....think of the poem "Footprints". If you aren't familiar with it, read it....... it will help you put things into a different perspective and allow you to step back for the moment. God bless you guys and take care!

Sierra is having the kind of childhood along with experiencing how every set of parents should treat each other, that cannot be improved upon. Such a lucky little girl! You both are doing such a good job at raising her. Darcee
Thanks so much for the kind words Darcee, we sure try our best and we feel so lucky that we are able to live this life as a family 🥰
Agreed ❤
When Brian said 420 miles to go..I fired one up😎👌☁☁ Have a great sail Delos. Been watching since Brian and Brady left on the first crossing.
Thanks for another joyous episode of your cruising lives. Thanks also, for the brief view of the Night Sky at 19:40.
Living where I do, on the South Coast of the UK, skies clear enough to be able to see the stars, are few and far between, due to the Light Pollution of millions of street lights and homes. I really envy you all. Fair Winds, Russ.
I am so glad that the Ramukanji song is back. This song makes Delos videos comfort videos for me
We are not sailors but we do travel with an off road travel trailer. it is fully off grid travel trailer and we keep fully stocked ready for the next adventure. Planning trips is a big part of traveling. We have been doing this long enough that taking off on the spur of the moment can be great. Sometimes the weather is just right. We just returned from a rafting trip on the Owyhee River in Oregon. The area had exceptional snow pack and the water in the river was high. It was a great trip. With the good snow pack many areas now have water that in many years are dry. Thinking this would be a good time to head to the Warner Wetland for some canoeing. There could be some good paddling and bird watching if the winds are not too high. Keep up the good work.
Thank you again for using the song Ramukanzi! We love it as your theme song!!!!!
I am a delos addict I have watched most of the older episodes at least a dozen times you keep me company while I work. What happened to episode 30 that was one of my favorites ?
That nail color is definitely you Brian. Love to hear you are open to such things when you are having a daddy/daughter day! Can't wait to see you all in paradise next week.
I vote you have Sierra do a new color on your nails every week! It looks great on you Bri and teaches her an amazing leason!
Love watching Sierra talk on the radio - super cute!
What a great last minute decision! Not only a really comfortable sail, but 100 dolphins, a whale and enough fresh fish for a few good meals! No bloody mary's for Sierra, but maybe she could have a virgin mary... minus the peppery spices... lol Had to come back and add something.... I just have to say, of all your buddy boats friends, Bill and Grace will always be my favorite, while it sucks they couldn't make the crossing with you, I'm super glad you found Erica and Warren to hang out with. I wasn't following them until maybe a month or two before you guys started buddy boating, I was just getting to know them through their videos. Then they met up with Delos and they've quickly become that next in line for my favorite Delos buddy boats... I know now I'll follow them long after you all go your own ways... Like Bill and Grace, they are just another perfect fit for you. One Life is right up there too, but I know they are on a different schedule than you for now, but it's a big world, I won't be surprised if I see you all together again!
Yes we were so happy with the decision too, what amazing conditions we had! And yes we miss Bill and Grace so much too! They are actually crossing the Pacific now, but unfortunately looks like we will miss each other for now as we are leaving soon to go to Australia and start working on Delos 2.0. Erica and Warren have become great friends of ours this year, actually we've had such a great little crew of buddy boats here in French Polynesia, it's so interesting how much the cruiser scene has changed since my first time passing through FP all those years ago, absolutely love it!
@@svdelos I assume the stay in Australia will be long enough that you might just still be in there when Calico Skies comes sailing in.. I'm the eternal optimist.. lol
I'm often amazed at the effort you both take to bring us amazing content. This episode highlights your attention to detail. Your drone shots of Delos are always great. But hiring and transporting 100 trained dolphins into French Polynesia to get those shots of them playing around Delos was just over the top! Great decisions deserve recognition.
Happy Mother's Day and Happy Father's Day to you, you are the best parents. Thank you so much for sharing your special sailing lives with us.
Delos-2.0: How about a permantly mounted camera on top of the main mast? Mounted at the tippy top, pointing UP, into 4 triangular shaped mirrors would enable views fore, aft, port, & starboard simultaneously! Into a circular mirror would enable 360 views, but they'd need processing your computer for "linerization", but the math is straight forward, probably already done. (p.s. Loved seeing the quote from Alan Watts.)
I think pointing a camera down is better because it's simpler.
THE BEST SAILING CHANNEL ON UA-cam 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great nails, talented 4 years old🎉😊😊😊
Daddy Daughter Day! Get as many as you possibly can. Be happy, be safe
An absolute classic. Great job guys, and everyone involved. God bless, and thank you xx🤗🤗
Kiril! Saw the “edited by”. Didn’t know he was still apart of the Delos family, cool.
Been going back and watching your videos from episode 1, I’ve already seen the Africa videos where Kiril made his appearance. Now at the episode where you left Rio. Good times. I wish all is well!
Oh yeah, Kiril's been helping us with the videos for quite a few years now, we are so grateful to have his magic touch in the videos! All our editors are former Delos crew, Jordan and Lisa are also on the team with us. Enjoy catching up on the videos, the Brazil ones are suuuper fun, we had such a blast over there!
Glad you are still cruising w/ Wesail...great couple too.
Great vid, as always. Love how Sierra is talking so much now. Out of the mouth of babes, our daughters, at that age, dimed us out, on our lack of dress, a few times as well! IT would be a fun way to sail. Continued safe travels. All the best. ⛵
Love the quote about change. We are powerless over people places and things. Change is a opportunity to free ourselves from our comfort zone, truly living. Love your channel, guys!
My favorite saying is "Not All Who Wander Are Lost". Its the beauty of being free is the ability to be spontaneous. Awesome.
J.R.R. Tolkien
Love that one too, this video is definitely a reminder of the freedom we get to enjoy out here!
or as my parents would say "we don't get lost, we just take different paths"
This was one of your best yet. Brilliant! Not afraid to call out what you see. And wow…you’re showcasing our beautiful Homeland like a pro!! 👍
16:11 Reefing the jib? Weren't you reefing the mizzen?
Otherwise, looks like a magnificent, enviable passage. Love to watch you guys show us how it's done.
I love the uneventful sails as well as the drama sails. You guys are one of the OG's of sailing. And the absolutely stunning backdrops you drop the hook in.
That’s what I call a fish. It was huge 😮👍 Good job Kazza 😉
Love the new intro and love hearing 🎶Ramukanzi again ❤
Those nails are my favorite color ; ) Love watching this little family
Delos is still captivating, interesting and inspirational after 12 years of following....I believe I binged watched first 3 seasons 2 or 3 times, even got write-ups for watching SV Delos past my lunchtime. Many thanks and much love and all the best going forward.
Hubby/I learned to open our hands to our own plans esp past year. Major health changes. Happiness is desirable, circumstances can challenge that. My responses (behaviors) to both happy times and sad times is key. My own purpose is to know God, reflect God and glorify/honour Him with my life. I have extensively taken CBT & ACT therapies and absolutely changed my responses to my self talk, recognizing that my self talk isn’t always fact and finding truthful & balanced thought patterns r critical. Pain is universal and so is joy/happiness. Enjoyed watching u change course, fish, buddy boating, and of course sweet Sierra & her beautiful parents 🇨🇦 ❤
How cool Sierra is growing up so close to nature
Aww I ❤ u guys!!! Your family bring my son and me so much joy. He will be 15 in a week and we are planing to buy a boat and sail by the time he is 17/18... We have sailing experience but we are a bit rusty, however your family and videos give us great hope to be able to hit the open ocean in no time..
Love your videos and side note love you brought back that opening song… such a fun groove 🤗
Great change of plans and now going to to Tuamotus. This place is magical and never boring. Always an surprising adventure. Nice size Tuna (skipjack) I think you said. What's the difference with this particular Tuna compared to the rest. Would you have released it if knowing before hand what type it was ? Brian beautiful nail really suits you. Maybe you and Warren from WE Sail could get you hair and nails done together. Beautiful sail overall and no fuel was needed how sweet that was. Catch you next video have fun
Hey Jonathan, yes we normally don't keep skipjacks as we don't really enjoy the taste...in this case would have released it for sure, but as you saw in the video once we kept it we have a few preparation methods that kinda masks the super fishy flavor...like breading it as we did here, making it in curries, or anything with a lot of other strong flavors. Haha Delos beauty salon sounds great, Sierra would absolutely love it 😂
It just occurred to me how magnificent the stars must look on moonless nights. Thanks for the great video!
Beautiful post. Delos looks awesome sailing in these conditions. Love the 360 cam shots. Sierra is such a delight. I often think of what her future holds after growing up with these experiences. Thanks for sharing your incredible journey.
Yeah Delos really shines in these conditions, she was definitely in top form! We are super excited too to see what path Sierra will choose down the road, and in the meantime we love being able to show her so many different ways of living so she can have as many options as possible to see what makes her happy in life 🥰
Thanks for adding one tox back into the intro!!!!!!!!❤ it’s such a good vibe. Be safe!!! Love you guys!!!
These positive vibes are very appreciated this morning!
Always happy to hear we can put some good vibes out in the world, so glad you enjoyed and thanks for coming along on the journey with us!
That Bonita that you guys call a Skipjacks is really big but growing up fishing off of the East Coast of Florida between Fort Lauderdale and South Beach from age 4 to 16. We caught a lot of big Bonitas. They do get big and boy they give you a good fight, but we never ate them. The passengers on my father’s drift boat, the barracuda they rarely took them home. my dad who was from Gloucester said the only way to get the meat really edible was to soak it in milk after you boil away some of that blood. It’s a pretty strong meet. I love when you guys catch fish really takes me back and I so want to fish again deep sea fish that is. Much love and stay safe.
Great episode. Gotta start commenting more to help the algoritm help you fund Delos 2. Cant wait to follow you on that adventure. Now need to figure out what friends of mine should watch your channel as well.
I watched these guys for the first time randomly and video was from 4 years ago, and then saw recent video. The sun beat their skin the fuck down. Crazy
Just loved that dolphin part!
It touched my soul.
Was such a beautiful experience, so happy to share it with you 💕
You are the man Brian! Blue nail polish and all! What an incredible daddy!
I think this is one of the most glorious channels on UA-cam. So Exhilarating joyous and full of wisdom. I got goosebumps watching the dolphins. 🐬 Thank you.🙏
Wow, such a huge beautiful fish for a skip jack ! If I've found the right Atol , Maria looks great, one of the islands is actually named Maria, the largest, and yet, I really don't see a way in looking from google earth, but the little preview showed that there are ways to get in. Looking forward to seeing this somewhat isolated atol next week
What a joy you guys bring us every friday :) Thank you
Kazas way of thinking is very scandinavian, my father was norwegian and I lived it, when there is a plan lets try to stick into it as much as possible, this doen´t means that they don´t change their mind, but it is not easy for them, safe sailing
An amazing lifestyle. I cannot imagine growing up in this environment.🙂🙂
You two compliment each other so well. Sierra is very blessed to have you as parents. God bless you all!
Unbelievable fish! As you were holding it I said, that’s a monster and then you said that same thing, freaky. Great video guys ❤️⛵️
every time I look forward to the videos I have to take my hat off to all three of you they are just great
8:12 The magic 🪄 of the ocean 🐬 leading the way. BEAUTIFUL
Totally, such a special moment to share as a family 💫 🐬 Thanks for coming on the journey with us Mark!
Hi guys I love all your videos I sit for hours Day at a time watching I try to keep up with work and watching 🤠 and you videos 😁 God bless you all ❣️
Y'all be the perfect sailing couple. Love the videos. Have your tshirts and love the material. I wear them everywhere.
That’s the Spirit……..welcome back! Great episode😇
Wise decision on going forward! Serra is growing fast. Thank you for taking us with you!
You guys have such a way of transporting us all along the ride with these video's. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and having such great content week after week. I can't wait to get out boat in the water! Sailing season is just starting here in Norhern Wisconsin.
Another great video. Thank you for letting us be in your lives.
Well that was a real fun time! Gotta love it when you go with yer gut and make those amazing choices ! That was one massive skipjack! I live on the west coast of Vancouver Island and for a couple months in the summer if you cruise out about 25 kms off shore you can catch skipjacks. Our favorite way to cook them is in a coconut red curry . Just delicious .
I loved that Allan Watts quote about change.
What we(Dad's) won't go through for our daughters to see them happy....Hehehe love it, just show we love them more than our looks...
Bummer for me. I was looking forward to seeing Fatu Hiva again. It is one of my favorite memories, but that was 1991 (or so).
Good to see you guys back in the groove. Just don’t stray too far from Delos 2! 🤣
Woo Hoo! That's quite a fish you caught.
Love the tent building. Brings back wonderful memories🤗🇨🇦
Love this! I think I'm going to go back and watch from Cape Horn to Brazil. That series was amazing. Miss Brady and Blue but enjoy their content as well.
Another GREAT episode guys, thank you so much for sharing your adventures. I really enjoy them and I love watching Sierra grow up a little more each episode. She has such a wonderful personality. Can't wait to see your next.
Looks like since you decided to build a boat you got a boost in spirit to sail.
I am re-watching all the videos and right now I’m watching when you guys are in New England and Sierra is so little. So after watching many, many videos all week, boom, I wake up this morning to see the new video and Sierra so big now❤
Brian, I missed a few episodes… I will go back. Your fingernails are beautiful turquoise 😝😂 Something tells me nugget was somehow involved!
I love the nail polish ! You’re an awesome dad ! My husband would never accept that ! 😁😁
What a beutiful sail! Enjoy the new place.
The spark you talk about is -imo- flow state. This video captures flow state exceptionally well!!
Your footage quality just keeps getting better and better! Thanks for sharing your life with us every Friday.😊
Good decision and great sail! 💞
That's living. Beautiful sailing ,loved every second of it ...😊.
What a stunning, still water view and islands for Nugget to run wild n free on. Live it up delos and joining friends ⚓
Kind of a trip through nostalgia and One tox! Love it.
I friggin love you guys. Been watching ever since the Philippines.
I'm so glad you chose to go when you did, fair conditions make life easier for sure.
Great episode. Thanks for being such beautiful humans and sharing your adventures
So enjoy sailing along with you.
I'm able to reminisce my times on wheel watch when I was younger.
Hi Brian & Kaz have watched all of your episodes for several years now, one question I’ve always wanted to ask is what weird spooky stuff have you guys seen in the sky day and night… surely there must be some stuff that’s made you think what was that … from Australia 🇦🇺👍
Jeg er såååå musinderlig (avundsjuk) på livet dere lever. Tusen takk for spennende videoer hver fredag! Hilsen fra Norge. 😍👍
Love your channel so much and sailing with you God blessings .
Cnange is good. Great video each and every time you make it happen. Thanks
Great catch! And the caravan keeps moving.
this is an awesome video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
From Phillipines....keep sailing safe always....watching your show every week
Our favorite restaurant here in Myrtle Beach SC. has 8 girl waitress from the Philippine's. They are the most pleasant well mannered and pretty* .. good as They make their rounds an orders perfectly, better than most in this area. As for tipping we do give $20.oo for a $60.oo meal , cash and they say no no to much.. Sharon and I used to wait years ago and know how tuff it can be in a tourist town... I would hire Philippine people because of their concern and caring ways.. Thx Rico ~
Felt so good to see you guys smiling & enjoying. Enjoyed every bit of vedio. Best wishes for you guys 🎉
My Son,s Loved making Tent,s an Fort,s like Sierra did ❤ Great Episode

Loved this, a proper Delos passage that took me back to why I got hooked on your stuff all those years ago, I’m jealous
Hi there Sally from Bakersfield 🎉
Love you guys! Glad it was a good passage for you. Safe travels. ❤
