Plus, it took me 4 tries to catch the message at 26:07. I'm not too old but I'm definitely not young either so I can't read that quickly. I'd love to be able to read something without backing up and pausing so many times. I know it's selfish to ask but I figure it doesn't cost anything to at least mention it. Thanks, again. Most dangerous scammer I ever heard. So calm, sometimes even polite. After 15 minutes many people would be 100% sure he is legit. Poker face guy.
His answer to her Questions about the Services were also accurate enough to hint to a basic technical background. Those are more dangerous than the ones only using a script.
This guy I would probably fall for because I'm not all smart in computer stuff but seeing Jim and these other people I feel I would get red flags after a while
right but he's also losing the will to live... and he sounds exhausted too...
Many of the older ones were real tech support once. The more scammers, the more companies pulled out of india for providing support, so some entire companies just shifted straight into scamming.
Let one comnect to an old dying system with every icon the background etc is nothing but pictures of dogs humpin..they dont hold composure as well
That was the CHILLEST scammer I've ever heard. He never raised his voice, he never lost his temper, he answered all your questions, didn't get upset for being interrupted, that's mind-boggling.
But he also sounds like he's slowly losing his will to live. That's probably why.

@@Grasss sometimes I do, too. Some come out and confess how they hate what they’re doing, but can’t stop because their money is being kept hostage and become trapped there, younger, ill-educated people get sucked into and pressured into these scam organizations.
It’s still no excuse, it’s just a sad situation overall.

This scammer sounds super legit, same flat tone, dispassionate voice, and professional tone, and doesn't get emotional. Reminds me of my times talking to legit technical support in the past. This is definitely more dangerous than those scammers who just sound and act like scammers on the get-go.
This one was even scarier because they didn't want gift cards and it's was saying verified publisher and blah blah. Your patience blows me away.

I love how you feed them info they didn't ask for so they feel more emboldened that they are succeeding, but also a lot of unnecessary info to sound like a real person. The questions about "what is that, how did that happen, what does that mean?" was perfect for putting him back on the defensive a bit after he was feeling so confident, which was perfect to keep him off balance, not to mention waste their time. The "aren't we on IPV 6?" was risky, but it didn't seem to occur to him that an average american grandma wouldn't know that.

The scammer was so calm answering your questions. I've heard Pierogi talked to so many of them and most sounds so hysterical. This one sounds convincing as he also acknowledges your anecdotes.
Compared to some of the other scammers you've dealt with, this guy was quick on his feet with answers to curveball questions.

I'm positive my husband purchased a 'warranty' for our brand new lap top (years ago) from 'Microsoft' he didn't even talk to me about it. It was $250 for 2 years of protection and coverage. Excellent work! And very informative. I don't know if you had the credit card number properly formatted, but if not, that buys time and costs the scammers money. I regularly give the scammers properly formatted fake credit cards. The advantage is that their computers flag them as legit, so they try to run them. Giving them random numbers doesn't do that. But if it's properly formatted and so they try running it, it only takes a few of those before the processing companies cut them off. That means they have to spend money to fund new companies until it happens again and then again and again.
I've even caused the pill pushers in India peddling Viagra via illegal telemarketing to ship a lot of orders to a lot of fictitious characters before they find out the card was bogus.
