To use multiple mods in Hogwarts Legacy on PC, you need to Merge Mods together to create one combined mod which is then installed through a Mod Manager to see results in the game
Using Vortex and a third party application, you can merge your chosen mods into a PAK file and have multiple mods running in game at the same time

Thanks so much for this video. It’s crazy that I’ve watched so many videos, and they gave me an understanding of how to merge mods, but they were way over detailed and made it more confusing. You literally showing the mods being merged into one pak file, and then adding the other ones separate into vortex And ignoring all the fluff around the process, made it so much more simple and straightforward for me. After a week of messing around with it and getting some mods to work and some not and starting over multiple times, I watched your video and had everything set up perfect in just a few minutes. I need help! The mod merger won’t let me merge any mods it keeps saying it doesn’t need to be merged so it won’t be added. I’m trying to use the ultra plus mod with smaller ui and dot aiming
i know it is very late but if the merger says it don't need merging the mod files doesn't try to change any existing pak files as such it should work just installing it normally through vortex or manually
What if the mods don't need to be merged can they be put into the mods folder as well as the mod merged mods?

Honestly great video!! I've just one question, say you're about to merge a mod with another but in the file of the mod you're going to merge, it still has many other files inside of it but you're only suppose to merge that one file. When you goto delete it from HL are you supposed to delete the whole file or just the file that you merged?

so what do you do when you want to add a new mod that needs to be merged? you need to add all the mods again together? including the new one?
Just select the merged mod file and the new mod and merge them again
My computer doesn't give me the option to turn my file into a 7-zip. I am on windows. I tried compressing the folders and then extracting all the files but they do not appear in the mod merger.

@@blueperlino i just threw Unlock all spells, voldemorts avada voice, no cool down in the same folder and it worked with no merging, just be careful with unlock all spells make sure u equip them all then close and re enter the game, i cant seem to redo unlock all spells since i forgot to add 2

Hello great tutorial, some mods say "this mod cannot be (or does not need to be) merged with this tool.
Does this mean the mod will work if I just install directly into folder or with nexus?

You are correct, if prompted with the message “does not need to be” then the assets it modifies are independent and do not manipulate what’s called the PhoenixShipData file which is the key file that any mods that need merging all try to change (hence requiring the merge)
So you can install it normally through your mod manager alongside any others and your merged mod file.

Nice Video thank. Do I have to disable the mods in Vortex that are also in the merged file? Or is it ok to just let the merged file to be loaded last?
You’re welcome! Be sure to remove any mods that you have in the merged file from your vortex load order before installing your merged pak
the mod merger can be downloaded through the vortex app. i just bought the game and want to use some mods, mostly qol. i downloaded all the mods including the script ones using vortex, is there no way to merge them through vortex or do i need to remove all script mods from vortex and redo it manually?

What if the Mod merger can be downloaded VIA vortex? Would it be safe to go through there, and merge the mods instead through Vortex?
i don't see why doing mods in any game has to be almost impossible for me. I've downloaded 7-zip yet right clicking like he did doesn't show 7zip, Vortex always says it cant find games on my pc. i got a pc to play modded games and ive creating nothing but hate for pc gaming and prefer console gaming --__--

It's still not working. I've followed step by step I'm trying to merge fhe no spell cooldown. It merges successfully and I bring it to vortex just like you show and it installs onto vortex, comes up with a message saying, not an archive but asks do I want to create a mod I say yes it installs but it still isn't working in game

Did you enable it correctly and then Deploy Mods before loading the game through Vortex?

Hi ! I see u have Free Gear, i want it too but i got Autohomora so i can't install Free Gear mod, do you have a solution to this ?
I couldn’t get Autohamora to work properly and ended up removing it because I was only testing mods out anyway as I’ve 100%d the game so it wasn’t a massive problem for me. If you set the difficulty to Story mode apparently it allows you to skip the lock pick mini game

Whenever i add all spells unlocked and no cooldowns for all spells, the cooldown mod doesnt work and neither does the sell value mod work. Any ideas?

All mods applicable need to be merged into a single mod file. You can only load 1 modded file at any one time
ugh, I don't know what i'm doing wrong... im trying do do the female skin, head, hair.. mods etc to edit appearance.. and i just can't get the mods to work.. i would probably need a walk through personally lol
What do I do if the the mod merger says the files Im trying to merge are outdated and it cant merge them?
Check if there is an updated mod available or a replacement or remove them from your build. Many mods have since become redundant with the updates released by the game devs themselves and can’t be used anymore. Some have created alternative mods or updated them but many have been left and no longer work
@@ADHDecent I figured out how to merge the outdated files. I just have to press the red ! sign but now when I put the merged mods into the ~mods folder, my game just crashes.
@cleansethyunholy7562 just because you can physically merge two mods doesn’t mean you should or can successfully.
I actually prefer manual installation, is there a way to just add a mods folder and put them there?
Once you have a merged mods PAK file you can install it manually into a mods folder inside the game directory if you wish

No. You need to merge the ones that say they need to be merged. That's why they say they need to be merged. They will conflict if you do them all individually because they're all trying to edit the same basic "ingredients", if you will, so individual pak files competing for the same things will wind up conflicting and the game will go with whichever one is the first in the load order, meaning the rest won't show up. You HAVE to merge them. That way they're all cooperatively pulled into one comprehensive file where the "base ingredients" individual pak files would otherwise each be competing for are instead shared in ONE file, but the "extra ingredients" each mod itself brings to the table (ie. cooldowns, new spells, casting speed, etc etc) are all present in the merged mod file.

Yes. Depending on the additional mod info added and merged, it may cause problems in game. But I’ve done it a few times without problems :-)
what if i delete the vortex will the mods disappear?
Some mods I open in mod merger will say it can’t be used or doesn’t need to be merged. What do I do with those mods that can’t be merged? Will they just not work or can I just drop those mods in the mods folder?

So you should be prompted with 2 different messages
- does not need to be merged
- requires translation
The first of these usually applies to textures or small visual changes that don’t require merging and can be installed on their own alongside the merged mod
The second requires a mod called parseltongue which translates the mod file so it can be merged. I’ll look at creating a tutorial for this soon
The problem is at the moment with new mods out every day and updates to the game, everything is somewhat unstable at the moment and so things are subject to change.
I am aware that yesterday a huge breakthrough has been made with modding for HL which could mean good things soon but it’s all up in the air at the moment
When I merge multiple mods the file it gives me is even smaller then the original mod file sizes. Lets say I have 3 mods to merge, each are 1.5MB. When I merge them the file that comes out is not even 1mb. So the mod merger must be deleting a bunch of files from each mod I put into it which makes none of the mods work when I start the game.
It won't be deleting anything. The merged mod file is smaller in size than the original mods because there is overlap between these files that becomes redundant, whereas if you had each individual mod installed without the merger, they're all trying to edit the same things and that's WHY they conflict. The mod merger just mushes them together and gets rid of the redundancy that creates conflicts via individual paks being installed.
It's like if I was making a pizza dough, but I want to use a couple different recipes for seasoning flavours, if I had 4 different recipes, it's still all using the same dough, and there's no need to add more of the base ingredients like flour, so I just want the seasonings from each of the 4 but they all share the primary ingredients of 1 recipe's worth.
@@DefconDelta88 yeah but if each file alone was individually bigger then the final merged file then something has to be deleted right? Like if i had three 10GB files. I understand that once merged if they had some of the same files then it would not equal 30GB. but it should atleast be bigger then 10GB right? BTW sorry if im not getting something obvious here. I can be pretty slow at times.
@@thestrangenessie2189 Not necessarily. It's not always an equivalent exchange with these things. The merger may shrink the file size, but that doesn't mean anything was cut out that needed to be there. Dead weight, if you will. Not all coding is made equal, to say the least, haha.

Cracked versions of games are unpredictable and are likely not to work

If the mod has been Hidden on Nexus it is for 1 of 2 reasons
1. The mod author or Nexus themselves have hidden or removed it
2. The mod is explicit and marked as NSFW which requires your account to have the 'Show Mature Content' option selected in your profile settings

I tried doing it with the cracked version of the game. Unfortunately I dont think even single mods work. I tried using one mod at a time. Installed, deployed, did everything correctly, but no mods seem to work using vortex. Was anyone successful?
Cracked versions of the game are unpredictable and are likely to not work
ive got a cracked version and i'm pretty sure this meant that you have to do all the mod loading manually via loacting your hogwarts legacy folder location, navigating through to the phoenix folder, then content, then paks then create a foldercalled "~mods". this is where all your mod files should go after clicking manual download from the nexus mods page. hope this helps
