a hunter studies the area he will go in for hunting. he knows moose is leagel and available to harvest in that season, in that area. why are you surprised? Aren't you a hunter?
The moose didn't save him, the fish did. Woniya quit because she couldn't break through the ice and harvest fish at the end. Jordan said he was eating the moose and starving because of the low fat content. It was the fat in the fish that saved him. The birds ate the fat off the fish he stored.
I watched a podcast, and he was talking about the show wanted to make it look like a close race between him and the last contestant. But in reality when they came to pick them up, he had enough food that he fed himself and the entire camera crew so it didn’t go to waste lol dude was a beast.
If you watch his Q&A on his UA-cam channel after his win, he was even more amazing than what was depicted on the show. At the end, he still had several hundred pounds of moose meat, over 60 lbs of fish, several rabbits, etc. He could have been there a year with no issues. The best survivalist I have ever seen on reality tv; I had pinned him to win from the beginning.
He had a lot of food left but with no fat because the wolverine got a hold of his can of moose fat. Jordan had lost 35 pounds and was really struggling towards the end. What impressed me the most was the gill net that he made when he was desperate for fish. If he hadn't caught that pike and had Wonia had more luck with her snares, it would have been really close at the end.
@@biodrummindieseler Based on watching the show, yes. In his interviews later, (and Woniya's) he's said he had a stockpile of 15 fish and over 150lbs of moose meat left when he won. In addition to the moose and fish he was catching on average a rabbit a day in his snares. The show edited their footage so that the final days would be more interesting for viewers to watch, but Jordan had basically won by killing the Moose. He'd lost 35lbs, but most of that was early on before the moose, and he was only 10lbs under his normal pre-Alone weight. (He gained 25lbs before the show started in preparation). Woniya was an amazing competitor who was trapping small game every day, but she was not able to sustain a healthy weight due to not catching enough fish (fat) to supplement all the protein. She talks about this on her youtube channel, but basically her location had very shallow water not suitable for fishing, and when the ice did freeze, it went from 3" to 18" in a few days and she was not able to cut through it well enough to fish toward the end of the show.
Nathaniel Kerns what about Nathan? It seemed like if the shelter didn’t burn down he would’ve lasted another 20 days honestly, not saying Jordan wouldn’t have won, but it could’ve gone on longer.
