i have a lineup of FC engines on the shelf from .17 up to .36 skipped the 25 and 38 bc lets be real a 38 drinks fuel and so does my 36. whatever. from my experience after taking all of them apart they came/shipped pre 'lubed' with this sticky grime or varnish lube(if you can call it lube) and they all smell weird... not sure whats up with that but a good clean will do wonders indeed. after seeing this vid im thinking of getting the .15 too. good stuff man! and these are great engines.
This engine would not replace an HPI G 3.0 it is smaller the crankshaft is different one thing I can suggest is if you have a Facebook page look up Nitro RC enthusiasts it's one of the best Nitro groups on the internet you can post a picture of your stuff ask a few questions and get a lot more help that way but the factory HPI 3.0 engine are very well made with the correct fuel and tuned properly there really fast
Cheap engines can be good, don't get me wrong I think it's still worth the $$ for an o.s. and Nova but off brands can be good as well. I ordered 2 of these off eBay to try out. Hoping to get some nitro burning this fall.
grimthenoble I totally understand where you're coming from and here where I live your average Nova Rossi or Os engine crafts and easy 300 to $700 just for a midsize engine but a lot of these cheaper Taiwanese made engines seem to run just fine for me and if something bad happens I'm really not too worried about it where as if I had an expensive engine of Japanese or Italian origin I'd be very pissed off of something bad happened and out a lot of money
I've rebuilt/tore down 1000s of rc nitro engines in my days and I don't put any type of oil or loctite on any bolts. Clean and dry threads. Not saying your wrong but it's seems to be fine either way.
grimthenoble I like to have a little bit of lubrication in there for first startup and I don't use any Loctite on my engines whatsoever it came that way from the factory and same here I rebuilt more engines and I can count since 1998 or so that also includes lots of Kart and dirt bike engines
Hey Bug. I ordered this engine for my RC10GT. It comes with a slide carb rather than a rotary carb but I would like to stick to a rotary carb. Do you know of any rotary carburetors that will fit on this? Thank you in advance.
They make a 15 size airplane engine the same company does do you think that would be decent to buy and man how could I Seymour to appreciate what you said I wish every bowl was an Allen head it would make the world so much easier
They are a good engine pretty much anything on their line is they make engines for HPI and axial as well just make sure you follow a really good break in procedure not the Traxxas one run a good 30% fuel with 12% oil or less and you have yourself a really decent unit
@@rjansen6874 the 38 is quite a big engine for that truck I would stick with something around the 28 mark just be prepared with an engine. Big you might break stuff and no problem I'll keep making them just waiting on parts and you'll see my Thunder Tiger Drive pretty soon

Thanks man and they are really good running engines for the money. You really can't complain
What model would replace or upgrade an HPI Bullet 3.0 MT engine? Awesome video too, thanks for posting. And where to buy them in Canada?

SH 18 Rotary carburetor
Great job! Was that Loctite residue that came out when you pulled off the backplate?
Neapolis thanks and yes it was
How do these compare to similar displacement Dynamite engines? I have a .28 Dynamite RTR.
Fores makes great engines same manufacturers HPI and axial and Obviously this as a 15 and what you have is a 28 which is a lot bigger
