Great reaction Chris! Good comments and links below. I will add that she never do a song the same way when she performs, she twists and turns them to her liking in that moment. Also you can find many of her songs in several versions : acapella, then add a guitar or a piano, more voices, bass and drums, her full band, then add a male choir, church organ, harp, strings section, or even a full philharmonic orchestra. Also, her music videos are pure art, she directs them mostly herself, and she is a fab dancer too having done modern dance from age 6 to 16.

I've been enjoying your Electric Callboy journey, and it was a very pleasant surprise to see Aurora pop up on your channel! I think she's one of the most incredible talents I've ever seen (and heard), and I look forward to more analysis and breakdowns of her performances.
It was really interesting to hear you talk about all the incredible things she was doing. Now imagine, she's only 19 years old, completely self-taught, and by her own admission, very nervous about being there. I would love to see you check out "Murder Song" from the same concert. It's mind-blowing. Elizabeth reacted to it on Valentines Day nearly a couple years ago (I think), and it was one of my favorite reactions ever.

Thank you for the deep dive into what makes AURORA so special. My all time favourite performance of hers is "Eyes of a Child" live at Nidarosdomen - a cathedral in Norway, where she's from. In case you're looking for it, here's the UA-cam link: ua-cam.com/video/ncG9zTzsisE/v-deo.html - this is more than a just a performance - it's a spiritual experience. But then, pretty much anything by AURORA is a spiritual experience.

If you ever want a full concert, either for a reaction or just to enjoy by yourself/with your kid. She have something called the "HAIK concert". HAIK is a tv show here in Norway that fills a day full of surprises for the chosen artist, and then at the end the artist have a concert. For Aurora, they decorated a forest full of fairytale looking things, as she talks a lot about spending her childhood in solitude on the forests just reflecting and thinking. And I think her love for nature and music is reflected in each other - so the concert is magical.

I'm quite old and most of my adult life I wasn't actually interested in pop music. I preferred Jazz, Progressive Rock, Blues, Folk and classical music for decades. There are only a few pop singers who are able to get my real attention (that doesn't mean, that I want to dismiss the vocal capabilities of singers like Whitney Houston, Adele or so many other popular singers, who are great).
But TBH the main reason, why I don't really want to listening to pop music was just because I felt, that the majority of all these gifted singers (with very few exceptions) seemingly didn't really care about the meaning of their songs (and for some reasons I didn't like that approach).
    Aurora is different!
Edit: I don't claim, that Aurora is the only singer (songwriter/musician) being 'different' or that many 'mainstream' singers (at least occasionally) are not always really 'mainstream', but it happened not very often. From my point of view we have examples, that during the last decades singer/songwriters like Kate Bush or Tracy Chapman or Björk (the focus of this comment is for obvious reasons on female singer/songwriters because Aurora is female) they are able to get international recognition and also (not only) had financial success while being 'different' and also staying 'different' from the flock through their careers.

Hello my friend Chris!!!....There are hundreds of thousands of people who are dedicated to making reactions on UA-cam, and there are thousands who have already had the opportunity to react to whoever is considered "The Best Singer in the World"...So when I find a reactor like you, who may not know him yet, for me it is a pleasure to send you this somewhat long note, so that you can get to know him and tell us what you think of this incredible singer, who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor....In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"...Since then all this madness began on the internet, UA-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano....You can see in UA-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages....In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide... Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you....Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html

Odd comparison, but her range of vocals reminds me of The Smiths. There is a Light That Never Goes Out, comes to mind.

Excellent, interesting points about the head voice not only being for notes one can't reach with chest voice.
Listening to her I can certainly hear lots of "flipping" between registers, almost yodel-like.
Which... I think makes her sound lovely and interesting... Which is a bit startling considering that isn't the trend nowadays with singing so much about "blending" of registers, making mixed voice better, trying to avoid obvious register changes...
Maybe we are trying to mix a bit too much! When the voice sounds very uniform and mixed to the hell and back, the end result may be a very bland porridge x)

Yep, Murder Song. Same concert. She really becomes the song. Look up Norwegian Dark Folk and you'll see what traditional influences she weilds in nearly every song.
Have you discussed Diana Ankudinova? Amazing Russian contralto with polyphonics and a large larynx. Who also was a yodel queen at 12. I would like to hear your breakdown of the recent Hans Zimmer concert where she belts out a song from the Dune soundtrack. A bold belting of D3 like a train horn but modulated and unfettered. Like an arabic call to prayer. It seems like plaster from the ceiling should be popping off at any point.
    Great analysis good sir

If you haven't already, you should also react to her covers of Rasputin and Life on Mars. She completely makes it her own with a whole different tone and feel. I really think you'll enjoy them!
