Did u say problematic HEI? Those distributors were and still are awesome..
Igniter vs Points distributor vs HEI
I have a 1990 Lincoln Town with the Windsor V8. Looking for tune-up advice, how to get the best fuel efficiency. upgrading does sound like less maintenance but questioning ROI Return On Investment? btw the car has sat for 8 years and running well on warm days. but if I don't let it warm up 20* F or colder and try to drive off after 10 min it seems rough until it gets to operating temp. also after 45 to 1hr idle to op temp. it will kill the motor most of the time when I change gears R or D. I haven't noticed during warmer days dying during gear change but I have only had it for three weeks.
Lmao one wheel peel at 5:15.......get a posi unit
what are the best spark plugs to run with these ?
y are y'all worried about the wrong stuff, what accent. the Camaro is one legged it should have posi two wheels always on muscle cars
Yes they are easy to install however, it should be noted that one should not use the the original wiring that was originally powering the coil and distributor since it used a resistor wire that limits power to the points distributor. The MSD requires 12 volts at all times, starting and running, bypass wiring should also be removed
How much is the MSD ready to run distributor
points are only bad if you let them sit for months at a time then they give trouble
2:08 limping around with an un-powered ignition definitely sucks
Anna..... What are you doing in there!!!!
Very misinforming video. The HEI in itself was not exactly problematic unless the module failed, which was/is rare. The distributor they removed wasn't even a points distributor, but an HEI. The way the MSD coil was mounted, is wrong. It should be mounted straight up. Then again these aren't real mechanics, just cue card readers, probably the same ones freaking out over getting dirt under their nails, and how they're going to have to soak them as soon as the camera is turned off.
does anyone know her name? I'd like to show her my cam shaft
Creep
Sorry to say they don't make them to fit every car. The odd-ball AMC 327ci distributor rotates counter-clockwise. MSD has NOTHING for it.
Whats with all this problematic HEI bullshit? The worst thing I have ever had happen with an HEI is the module going out, but it already had 87k on it. The pick up assembly's on the much older units had some anemic connecting wires, but once you changed that you had a practically immortal ignition.
Agrreed!!

I know, you were born in 1970
U look good in that car u will look better in my car 80 firebird lol
I can't watch a technical video if they get easy things that wrong. They keep referring to an HEI dist as points and any idiot should know the difference.
Why does the narrator have an English accent? This is about American Muscle.
