As always another great review Harry!! Anyone who questions your motives regarding the reviews is simply bored with too much time on their hands!!! Your reviews have always been honest and respectful. You always say what you like and what you don't or what could be improved on with each product!! I have found many of your reviews VERY helpful!! I am also disabled and have chronic pain and as a result my funds are limited. The reviews you do have helped me decide on what art products are best suited for me and allows me to avoid buying a product that may not work for the techniques/type of art I am trying to produce. Thank you for all your hard work helping fellow artists find the products that are right for them!!

I have this bag. It’s held up VERY well. I’ve used it for a few years and love it. I bought a couple of extra leaves for it and it holds ALL of my art pencils, my watercolors, my paint brushes, collapsible water pot, and a flask full of water.

Just a question, Do you think this pencil bag is okay for school wise? As a pencil case for school.

I love this bag. I've either had it a year, or possibly two years. It was a Christmas present, just not sure which one.
I do live out of mine. I have five leaves full of pencils. I have a small pencil case containing tools in the mesh pocket alongside my colour wheel. There is room for a sketch book if I need to carry one.
I've taken it out and about. I use it on the sofa or on my desk.
I had some small pin badges that I wanted to display so I decided to pin them to the gag. That material is tough! It was really hard to get the pins through. Whilst doing that I'm pretty sure I discovered the back of the fabric is rubberised. That why it doesn't let water in.
Thanks Harry, for a thorough walk through of this underrated piece of equipment.

It's now 2023 and I just Googled this item, bc it sounds like almost exactly what I've been looking for. Amazon & Jackson's are both offering the bag for about $30 and the leaves for $9-11 USD retail. Like you, I wish it was waterproof, because that's a reality in my life. I don't think I have 200+ pencils, but I have nearly outgrown my current pencil case. Plus, I don't see any leather on this item, which makes me happy as a vegan. Definitely on the wish list! Thank you. 💖

I have the trident one, and now I also want this one for different brands of pencils. My bag is exelent and resistent for my art needs. Because they have different colors, but the same shape, it will be easy to organize and differentiate my art sets. And this one is beautifull 😍

Thank you for reviewing this bag. It looks like a good thing to ask for from my husband for Christmas. It is totally understandable that you love most Derwent products, based upon the quality and performance. I just wish I DID work for Derwent - I would have no problem selling their wonderful products, which I could buy at an employee's discount! I just gave away a 12-pencil set of Derwent water soluble pencils to my friend's mom who was visiting from Australia. I got the set as a gift from my husband but ended up buying a larger set later on. She was really happy with them, and told me that Derwent in Australia is considered the very best brand of art supplies and that they cost a lot because of shipping and import taxes.

I haven't actually worked out of mine yet, but I bought it because I needed a solution for the Neocolor II's. I backed each elastic section with a piece of manila file folder so the crayons don't stain and have 2 in each section with a paper towel between the leaves so they don't contaminate each other. The swatch book is in the outside pocket and I have it hanging on the door. It seems well made, cost a little under $22.

I’ve had a Derwent carry bag since I was maybe 14-15, so mine had lasted me 4-5 years, I’m still more than happy with it, and I use it exclusively for markers so the chunky size hasn’t caused a problem either. The only problem I’ve had is that the zip on the inside pouch broke, but that was my own fault.

I have this bag n LOVE it. I keep my Sharpie n Bic Marker in it. 2 markers per slot I also bought extra sleeves. Love this quality made out of heavy canvas with a cross body strap. In the USA we call it a 2 ring binder. The zipper is even quality. If saying how much you love the Derwent brand means you work for them, then I guess you can say I work for Derwent as well. LOL THANK YOU for another Great review Harry... ;)

Thorough review Harry! I too really like this bag, and have a few of them. I've spray painted them with some of my craft sprays to tell the difference, and I like color!!! I agree, they are a great durable bag, and it allows you to carry a couple of sets of pencils, which I like, since I use them to cart to my crafting sessions. It's my favorite storage/travel bag.

  • @capyboppy

For a long time I dithered over this bag for 3 reasons. 1st: I already had a number of good cases such as global art. 2nd: I didn’t think I would like it because of the colour. 3rd: many of the reviews had put me off.
However, when I saw it for a knock-down price on Amazon (around £7) I gave in. I use it more for storage than carrying around, as with the 2 extra leaves in, it is on the heavy side for me. The hessian type material is sturdy with the main sand colour a lot lighter and nicer than I expected. If I have 1 criticism it is that you can’t fit in a typical A4 size pad or colouring book in; I am surprised Derwent didn’t factor this in when designing. Saying that I am really pleased I bought it as it is so well made. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it now I have it.

I have this bag and managed to get six leaves in it. I use it for storage mainly and find it easy to find whatever colour mad make of pencil I want. Material is not flimsy and stands up to a lot of hauling around in the house.

Great video Harry! 😁 Don't worry about those who accuse you of working for Derwent. They are just not happy people & sadly they probably won't listen. They have already made up their minds. If they have actually been watching your videos for any length of time, they should know better. This looks like a very sturdy case. The material also reminds me of hubby's old uniforms and gear...lol 😉 Thanks for sharing Harry! Take care 🤗

Derwent is a UK based company so their products are everywhere, easy to to buy and costs less, it's like prismacolor in the states common as mud so most people have them. It's that simple, nothing to do with kick backs from the company. Though I'm sure that Harry would make it clear if a company did send him stuff to review and that his review would be non bios and honest.

I bought this bag, the quality is ver good, pretty robust for the price. Derwent products seem pretty good, my only gripe with them is in getting no response when trying to contact them via their website. Tried sending emails about an item missing from an order and then a non delivery of a further order, but get no reply? Strange as a heard that they really care about their customers.

Thanks for doing a review of this bag Harry, looked at it a while ago and then forgot all about it. I'm going to have to get one at some point as it'll be so much easier to have most of my main pencils, pens, etc in one case instead of some here, some there. I agree that waterproofing and some wee rubber feet on the bottom would make it top notch. Best as always, Jane.

I actually have 3 of these bags with a 4th on the way. I have different sets of pencil in each with 5-6 sleeves in each. I absolutely love this bag because I can grab one and go depending on which pencils I want to use. They can get a little heavy but with the carry strap it works out well. Have taken them on trips including on planes and they fit nicely under the seat in front of you. I just loop the carry strap over my knee and can pull it up to get additional pencils out of it. Some of the other types of bags are more inconvenient to carry because of just a wrist strap and no other storage inside for the other things you may need like erasers, sharpeners etc. The outside material is also very sturdy. I won't use any other bag.

Don't worry about those saying that you work for Derwent. Most likely they just have a need for being grumpy.
I loooove Derwent, just like you. They make amazing things 🏆 Keep up your amazing work and don't let anyone make you feel like they pull you down.

I have 2 of these and you can fit 6 leaves into each - that's just my coloured pencils. I use this as my main storage for the pencils, it's a sturdy bag and makes it easy to move it around plus all my pencils are in the one place. I have a lot of Derwent pencils too - just because they're great pencils and in the UK very easy to get hold of unlike other makes.

Great review - this needed to be done thank you. I was surprised at the size, it's much bigger than I expected it to be but probably not for me as I don't carry many pencils just a B, 2B, 4B a couple of fine liners, a small set of watercolours and a sketchbook. The clam shell design would probably be not as useful to me as the messenger style or traditional satchel type. I would really be interested in any future bag reviews you do. ...I whimsically dream of owning a traditional Billingham bag but I would have to sell my grandmother ...and probably a few vital organs to buy one of those.

Peter Sobocki I still use my old leather school satchel to keep my painting gear in. It's fabulous. Battered and a shape all it's own, but perfect for watercolour tools and paper. See if you can find one somewhere.

Sue Wilkinson I love the old leather school satchels, especially real old worn ones but they're harder to find than rocking horse poop... and a good modern reproduction often cost a mint. There is a mom and daughter in the UK who set up a business making them but they are around £150 I believe.
