Harry, I really appreciate all the information you probide on products. I loved hearing your thoughts at the end on which people might use the product. You're a real asset to the community
Thank you so much Barbara, I love to hear that these reviews have helped people make the right choices for them and prevented them from buying art supplies they may not use or need. Thank you so much.
I was not aware of this product, so thanks for spreading the word on it. It will be on my wishlist. Great review, your the best. Be well and stay positive.
This looks brilliant Harry, I don’t get out and about but it would be great for keeping all my drawing things together in a neat and tidy way to use at home. I can see another purchase looming lol. I have the carry all for my coloured pencils but this will be great for all my graphite stuff. Thankyou for doing this review. Like you I wouldn’t expect there to be any problems with the quality of this product based on my past and current experience of Derwent storage products.
Hi Margaret, so nice to see a comment from you on the channel. You and I are the same with regards to how we would both use this product. I can also see how some of the other points people have made would be nice options for the more able-bodied artists among us, room for an additional leaf and perhaps the ability to add or remove a shoulder strap, essentially turning it into a messenger bag. Hope you are keeping well Margaret and I hope you will love the reviews I have coming soon, some really interesting pencils to review, I just hope I am not the cause of people bankrupting themselves, that would be terrible, mind you I know just how addictive this art thing can be. However, this is my only vice, I had to stop drinking due to medication and I have never smoked due to always being a fitness freak when younger, so for me art supplies are my vice lol
Oh Harry I don’t need encouragement to fall into temptation on the same day you reviewed this and I ordered it, Jon mentioned a new mechanical pencil he is using for the current drawing, guess what yes I ordered it, mechanical pencils my weakness, any pencil my weakness but as you say this is my only vice these days and I do get full use out of them. This though will be perfect for my graphite stuff, I think there will be enough spaces lol just about, in which case I will have to get another for the overflow
Thanks for the review, looks like a really good product. I don't get out that much, but cannot always sit at a table to do my art work so having this that I can have next to me on my armchair with everything I need in one place is a great idea for me.
This is exactly why it is such a fantastic product for me, if I am unable to move of the bed or sofa or wherever, I can ask one of the kids to bring my folder to me and it will have al the stuff I need to at least do a decent sketch. Thanks so much for your comment.
Does anyone know whether you can fold this over so you can use this in your lap? I don't want the part with the pencils dangling down. I'd rather it folded behind.
Thank you for this informative review. I reside in Arizona. With extremely hot temperatures outside during the brutal summer months plus health limitations I cannot get outdoors as I would like. I do have a large sunny studio which helps me cope being indoors. That being said it’s still difficult to gather any of my sketching supplies, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, travel brushes or pen brushes when I feel the need to be about in my house or to venture to my patio venture out to my patio before the heat is on! I am planing to purchase 3 of the Derwent Pencil Case, Canvas Carry-All Bag Pencil Holders. My question for you is will my Magnum Albrecht Dürer watercolor pencils fit in this folio? Obviously I would only use limited drawing and sketching supplies and only use the Magnum sized watercolor pencils outside of my home. It’s been a struggle to keep track of pencils of this nature other than the large tins they were package in. I have several desks, bookcases, easels and work station in my studio. I am determined to get things organized! Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I wish they had made it a bit deeper and another leaf cause I carry a lot of pencils etc. It would at least given me the option of carrying more if I want. Also I would want a shoulder strap to help carry it.
I can definitely see a lot of people feel the same as you, room for an extra leaf and perhaps the ability to add and remove and shoulder strap. Who knows, maybe Derwent will take these points onboard for their next product. I know that they do read the comments on my channel as I have spoke to people from Derwent about this but obviously I have no idea if they will incorporate the points into their next product or a new version of this one.
Thank you for reviewing this item...do you remember what country this item is manufactured in??this is probably good for people who want something really thin...u can put the ruler or template in the slot where the sketchbook is
To the best of my knowledge they are all produced in the UK which is where Derwent are located. I will check out with the agent at Derwent, I know all of their pencils are made in England, but with things like this I am not 100% sure so I will find out for you.
Awesome :D Love that it's A4. I'v been waiting for that. But I miss a carry-handle of some kind. So it would be easier to carry with you. And I wish it could add at least one more leaf to it. Because now it holds 68 pencils, as I could count, and most Derwent set's comes in 72. So with this one, you have to put 4 pencils in the little pocket (if they fit). So far, I think my regular Derwent Carry-all, with 5 leafs, is a better deal for me, even if it only comes in A5 size, and I have to carry my A4 book on the side. But at least I can throw that on my shoulder, or hold it in the handle and carry it with me. If they make room for one more leaf, and add something to hold it with, it would be just perfect
Hi May I know exactly what you mean, I have three Carry All Bags, one has watercolor pencils, one for pastel pencils and the other for colored pencils, but even with these three and extra leaves inside all of them, I still don't have room for absolutely everything. Excellent points May
If it's the same zip, as the original Carry-all bags, they hold very good for a very long time. I have 2, and one of them, have been with me around half of Europe. And I'v used it for soon to be 3 years I think, and the zip and outer parts, still works wonders. Its only on the inside, that you can see it's been used for such a long time. Because the net, has not hold the stitching and some of the pencil-holder bands, are loose. But the zip and the fabric, is amazing.
Good review. I purchased the Derwent Carry Case after watching your review on it. Best purchase ever! Its too bad the sleeves are not interchangeable. I think this would have been better made as a horizontal A5 case. All my sketch books are horizontal except one a5 size. With that said this is still Very cool and I could easily get a sketch book to fit!😏🙄😁 My problem is I like to have all my pencils with me where ever I go . And my water colors... 🙄 And my markers...😁👩🎨
I know exactly what you mean Melissa, when I went to the lakes this year on holiday, I brought so much art stuff with me I put my wife and daughter to shame against their huge collection of shoes and handbags lol. Also thank you so much for your kind words, I love hearing from people that the reviews have helped them make good purchases. Thank you so much.
Good review as always. The product.... does not appeal to me. I am left handed and I would have to take the paper pad out of there to draw, or have my hand/arm rest on the pencils in the leaf, or turn the whole thing upside down, -with the good chance the pad sliding out of the pocket. If it had two pockets behind the pad, so it was optional if you want the pad mounted for left or for right hand use, yes then I would definitely buy it. As it is... I am not convinced enough.
This is an excellent point Xargot, one I completely missed in my review, thank you for mentioning it in the comments section. The next time I am talking to Derwent I will bring up your point. I can't promise anything but it is I am sure something that effects a lot of people, lets face it, the world isn't only filled with right handed people. Thank you
Xargot Hunter I know, but I am supposed to being delivering reviews for everyone, well that is the aim, so points like this are important which is why I really love it when people leave comments on my reviews on something I may have missed because I think it helps to improve my reviews as your comment will help me to think about a left handed perspective in future reviews. This is why I value viewers and subscribers feedback so much.
Well this far I don't think that peoples predominant hand has been an issue in the products you have reviewed this far. If so, -I totally missed it. There can be small things like how fast ink dries if you use a pen to write with, because slow drying ink smear for lefties if we do not learn to keep our hand off the paper while writing, and yea this one where it will be annoying to rest your hand and arm on the tools. In school and at uni I never took notes on paper in my binders. I always had loose pads for that, because the center clip in a binder is soo much in the way. :)
I was thinking that if they "tweaked" the design... put a wide strap in the middle where the pad goes and make the storage accessible from both sides. (Zipper???) It could be flipped for lefties!

Great review. I have used your reviews in the past to guide some of my art purchases. I would buy this folio for sure.
For taking my stuff with me.
Thank you so much Barbara, I love to hear that these reviews have helped people make the right choices for them and prevented them from buying art supplies they may not use or need. Thank you so much.

Yes . Handle, crossbody shoulder strap and a bit deeper for one more sleeve.

Agreed - Needs to be a few centimetres bigger to add more leaves, I'm wondering if the zip will hold in the field?

Not available in the States yet. Ships from UK. Nucence.

its a shame it's too narrow - I have bought it already. If I could fit more stuff in it, it would be ideal
