Laronde definitly is my favorite place to go in the summer
walk around mcgill's campus, parc du mont royal is 100% necessary, and eat as much as you can
Cité Memoire app ... discover the history of Montreal and the projections on the walls.. The app on the mobile phone is well done ..... Montreal has 400 years of history, culture and architecture to discover . The archeology museum in the old Montreal is impressive.
running or cycling nearby canal Lachine
Just to name a few nice places to visit:) Wellington street n1 hispter place in the world, Plalais des congrès, Square Victoria, Notre-Dame Church, Saint-Denis street
I'm not one to write comments on UA-cam, but this video inspired me a lot, so here's how I would describe Montreal, from a Montrealer's perspective. I have traveled to many great cities around the world and nothing compares to Montreal honestly. It's a small city with a big soul. I resonate with some answers from this clip: "walk/bike around and feel the energy" or "it's not the places but the people you go with". Montreal is an amalgam of many neighborhoods that all have something to offer. Visit all of them to understand (Plateau, Petite Italie, Quartier Chinois, Mile-end, Saint-Henri). Montreal is also gastronomy (helicopter, moccione, montreal plaza), bars (henrietta, Brasserie harricana, Bar st-denis, atwater cocktail club), clubs (Datcha, sans soleil, stereo), shows, music, etc. The people here are kind, generous, and open-minded. You will feel safe and welcome. Hope you enjoy your stay. Cheers -M
I just want to say, I am improving my English listening skills with your videos, nice content and thank you for this great video. Greetings from Ecuador.
con mucho gusto!
Definitely missed memtioning TRY THE BAGELS!! (st viateir vs fairmont)
I'm coming to Montreal next week. A few things for people who don't like touristy stuff - Leonard Cohen exhibit at the MAC, Cinema Monderne is a coffee shop that shows indie and artsy movies in back. Stogies Cigar Lounge if you're into that. Dieppe Park is the place to go for sunsets I hear.
🐢 this is a wonderful video, as someone who is planning to go to Montreal next year, and potentially move. Can be overwhelming trying to prioritise your time, and discerning what is and isn’t worth doing. Hearing from real locals and even visitors in video format is way better to me than some random blog or website. Some really great answers here, so helpful. Can’t wait to go. Cheers!
08:40 this one was the best 👌😂
My wife and I are visiting in 2 weeks. These are great! Merci, Montréal!
GREAT VIDEO! We're traveling to Montreal in June for the Jazz Festival!❤
Enjoy!
Go to the metro Papineau and admire the lights at the Jacques Cartier Bridge
Also love the variety of ppl that you interview, keep it up !! :)
Lots of great tips! thanks! 🐢
Montreal is probably the happiest place I have lived in. This is making me a bit nostalgic. I left 12 years ago now. A few things I would add: Montreal Botanical Garden, the nature parks in the west along the water (Cap Saint Jacques, Ile Bizard, etc...), ice skating in some amazing places (lac au castor, vieux port, ...), X-country skiing on Mont Royal, and the amazing "spectacles d'improvisation".
I''ll be in Montreal in June! Thank you for the recommendations!!
🐢I'm looking into where to travel to next spring and this video has helped convince me it should be Montreal. Thank you!! Love that you asked a mix of locals and visitors :)
Great tips and suggestions
🐢 visiting tomorrow, so excited!!
grandfather was from Montreal - my dad played hockey so raised south of border - living in Texas for 43 yrs - thinking of taking my oldest granddaughter there in October.
BEST video about Montreal I have seen so far. You managed to steer clear of the old tired clichés and get real content from real Montrealers or from curious tourists that are really enjoying our unique city. Bravo!
I would like to add a tip: find a way to get invited to a party at a Montrealer's home. There you will get to experience what Montreal hospitality, sociability and "joie de vivre" is all about.
Thanks Oscar!
C’est une bonne vidéo!!! Merci beaucoup pour la direction en Montréal.
Great Video! Planning to move to Montreal in December ☺️✌️
Come to visit Outremont neighborhood, take an omelet at Café Souvenir on rue Bernard on a sunny day ☀️
Beau Montage merci pour vos efforts bon courage depuis l'🇩🇿
We are moving to Montreal in August without having ever visited for more than a day. This video makes us feel that we will be comfortable there despite everything. The people of Montreal remind us of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, inviting and welcoming while also minding their own and open to different types of personalities.
Visited Canada for the first time last year. By far Montreal was my favourite place. So I'm coming back this year for another holiday! People are so friendly and such a relaxed vibe! My tip is to visit Rue Wellington in Verdun!
Also I recommend visit the Aura in Notre-Dame de Montreal. Cool performance
I’m not a coffee person so that part was really interesting about how it’s a great way to meet people 😮
I would add the botanical garden (outside and the green houses), one of my all-time favourites, and the insectarium, newly rebuilt and a fantastic place.
DEFINITELY TRY ONE OF THE TERRASSE RESTOS, SO GOOD AND ALSO BAR HOPPING, THERE ARE LOTS OF GOOD BARS IN MONTREAL
I’ve been living in Montreal for about 1 month now, feel like I’ll probably run into you eventually! Good suggestion for places to go
from all the countries and cities i lived, montreal will always have the sweetest spot in my heart
You shouldn't have visited a lot of them lol
Me too and I travel for a living

What a beautiful video
I always go to public lectures at the local universities like Columbia or UPenn. McGill has good public talks.
Thanks man, I am going there in 2 days :)
As a montrealer those are all great ideas !!
People are so nice in Montreal
Hi Dan,
I have finally arrived in Montreal this week!
I am getting to know several places that I have seen in previous videos of yours, and it is wonderful to see that I am here for real and not fiction. :)
Satisfaction!
Wow this place speaks my language ❤ coffe shops Formula one 😮 Nature and pretty ladies.
For any plants lovers out there, I would suggest you go to the Botanical Garden, or to one of the cemetaries on Mount Royal. The latter are not creepy at all, they're beautiful parks with mature, rare trees and quirky monuments. The Molson family mausoleum alone is worth exploring!
In spring or summer, hit the "terasses". These are the street cafés. Not necessarily for the best food but to enjoy the air of "insouciance" outside, after the winter. This is what the locals do. Café Olympico is a popular summer time spot for this but Bernard st., Mile End, st Laurent are good too.
You can skip Schwartz if you're from NY, LA or don't care for smoked meat!
AMAZING bazinga!
Thank you so much for the vid. I was missing the mtl videos. I've been traveling with my family for the past 6 months in South America. I'm coming back in June. Watching your vids makes me look forward to coming back to the best underrated city in the world, no cap.
Montreal viewers, I haven't forgotten about you! Yes I'm going to be travelling a lot and making videos in different cities. But we all know summer in Montreal is great and so I'm going to show that too :) Drop a comment if you have any video ideas, or questions you'd like me to ask Montrealers 🐢 Or shoot me a msg on insta: instagram.com/thenewtravel/
You should definitely do a video on the Lachine Canal bike path or the les Berges bike path. Starting in Lachine and it's old town the church the college St-Anne, then making a stop around Parc René Lévesque on a sunny Saturday or Sunday to see people from everywhere cooking food on public BBQ and having a good time. Then stoping for a beer at Terrasse Sainte-Ambroise, then stroll all the way to the old port.
If you choose the Berges bike path then you must stop at the par des Rapides right along the mighty Lachine Rapids in LaSalle this is an amazing parc where you can feel the power of the Saint Laurent. Then you can stop to see surfers at la vague a Guy and pass by multiple sports venues and crossing the Verdun beach.
Hey Dan, how old are you?
Definitely do something showing how you can enjoy the city without a car. Metro and bixi to explore Jean-Drapeau. Over the past 20 years the city has been transformed by this. You may even get to try the REM, and REV!
Hi Dan,
I was waiting for a new video from Montreal 👍I am outside, far away for one year and I need to see my beautiful city, thank you so much for your work ❤️
glad i could provide your daily dose of montreal!
@@TheNewTravel 👍☀️
@@christinelanroy4341 when you come back lemme know I wanna meet you sweetie 🥰😘
nice place
OASIS Immersion is the largest indoor immersive experience in Canada. Inspirations offers three sensory galleries and two light experiences ....
walk The Main, from Vieux-Port straight up to the Mile-End :D
What I loved to do when I got here was just to choose a random métro station, get out of it and walk around the neighbourhood! I had such a great time discovering the little things and differences between places!
My 3 favourite things to do in Montréal are: going to the botanical garden and biodome (the botanical garden is beautiful and huuuuuuge); walk around St. Laurent to do the graffiti walk; the Fine Arts museum. I also like just wondering around, checking out the Old Port, Jean Talon, etc. And ordering a pizza at Il Focolaio!
The food scene and night life ...the best in Canada
Hi my bro dan

The bonus tip juxtoposition was funny. But it has validity.
Voir l'illumination de pont Jacques Cartier le soir . C'est beau et c'est gratuit
🐢 Fun to see a video of what I consider to be one of my hometowns. Thanks for posting it!
The english native speaking french almost like a Quebeckers , ngl he almost fooled me at first as a Québécois. Amazing to see.
We appreciate your effort and hard work. God bless you all.
Great video ! いいね!
As a montrealer, the #1 tip I can give is explore OUTSIDE the downtown area (old montreal included). Visit the jean-talon market, cote des neiges avenue, masson st in rosemont, wellington st in Verdun, bike by the water in lasalle & visit the rapids (you can even go rafting there), buy take out from a local restaurant, get some wine or beer and have lunch at a park like a local! & lastly enjoy all the festivals, street markets and fun activities that go on all year long, winter included!
😂😂😂😂😂the last tip
Oh mon dieu les arbres! Jsuis pas au Québec depuis 3 mois, le verglas était bad!! :O
Yo!!!! The guy at number 12 2:39, I know him.
He was a neighor back when I lived with my mom.
Neighbors for almost 15 years!
Hahaha!! Man! The dude at number 20. He has a Quebécois accent that permiates his english a little.
Love the fact that he's not even native. Show's his willingless to intergrate.

I’m about to visit Montréal for the first time and I found this video to be helpful and inspiring.
🐢
So much Inspiration thanks a lot! Guess I need to schedule more time when I visit and stroll around the city like a 🐢
Montreal is the Canadian capital of culture , history and architecture... The Museum of archeology is impressive ... The Planetarium has the latest technology
Try the subway (metro). Then you MUST walk the underground city.
🐢 That was really helpful! Thanks!
The only thing which could make my life easier is to have these places names in the description ;)
I'm staying in Vermont next year, about an hour from Montreal. Does anyone know of anything south of Montreal to do? Or will we have to drive up there if we want to do anything in Canada? I wouldn't mind the drive just curious if there is anything along the way from Swanton VT to Montreal.
Go watch big planes take off and land up close at Jacques-de-Lesseps. There’s even bleachers set up to enjoy the show.
Great vlog! Coming from the US to spend 3 days in Montreal in July. A mural and street art walking tour with a guide is on my to do list. Know I could do it on my own but thought it might be fun to do a walking tour with a group.
Check the Jacques cartier Bridge at night too. Next to the papineau metro station
I will be there this weekend as well, have a great time 😊
"JUST DON'T MOVE HERE, IT'S SO COLD" HAHAHAHHA
🐢 I’d say go get some bagels 🥯😁👍
i live in mortreal
Chinatown, vieux port and alot of parks is really a good idea. There is also an amusement park called LA RONDE and it is so fun!
JACQUES CARTIER BRIDGE at night
Wow, I heard learn french aka learn local culture by an english man. I love that! Wanna come in our country baby?
same its good to see.
hey ! I don't comment often but this video really made me want to. I'm moving to Montreal on august 10, (It's May 30 as I'm writing this, for future people !) and I just can't wait, I keep watching all these videos about my future city and I couldn't be more exited, I don't really like to sound like someone who romanticize a lot, but I just cannot help myself to feel so much happiness and hope because this city, the people, everything appears to be like the perfect place to live, such an open-mindedness, artful, curious and nice island....Idk but I'm just so freaking hyped. Cya !
🐢 see you soon MTL
As an Ex-Montrealer, Having a car in downtown Montreal is totally terrible.. There is NO parking, and if there is, you will PROBABLY get a parking ticket. In the summer, Montreal is crowded with people, cyclists and cars. So don't drive in downtown Montreal. And if you are going to be here for more than a few weeks, learn to SPEAK FRENCH, which I do everytime I come. Even though My favourite language is Spanish! (Sorry)
Montreal is beautiful! In the summer.
🐢. I would like to visit Montreal someday, why not? I think it's a friendly and warm city which it's worthy of being visited. It's a bilingual city as well as Canada in general. Most of the people there speak English and others speak French. I'm pretty curious, so I'd like to know your age 😊.
The official language of Québec is French, the mother tongue of 77.5% of the Québec population (8.8 million). Montreal, economic and cultural metropolis of the province has the status of French city. Certainly, Canada recognizes two official languages, English and French, on the same footing of equality. However, bilingualism is the fact of the country's Francophones, due to their minority status. This is why 40% of Québécois are bilingual, particularly in Montreal.
❤ Visit the different neighbourhoods! Venture away from the old Port and downtown! You won't regret it. Religious or not make a point to visit the St Joseph's Oratory ❤
🐢
What is summer actually like in Montreal? I am thinking to come :)
Tropical !
The Science Centre is amazing in Montreal!
Can you do a video as to what it is like riding all day on a bicycle in Montreal?
Do not eat at K2 bistro if you want good sushi😂
Got any recommendations? I actually find it hard to find good sushi in this city :/
🐢🐢🐢
My absolute favourite thing to do when I come to Montreal is leaving Montreal , It makes me really appreciate every other place just that little bit more 😊
French please!!
🐢 I live here, its not bad but It's not home
I absolutely LOVE Montreal. It's my favorite city in Canada by far but I need to say this one thing. There are so many gorgeous coffee shops BUT the actual coffee in Montreal is HORRIBLE. Pretty much the only negative for me personally ❤
Yes, I don't drink coffee for that reason and I live here! Café Olympico in plateau and other places are better. Camelia Sinenis for tea.
1. If you have a non Quebec plate, do not park on the streets overnight - lots of breaking in cars with foreign plates
2. Mtl is mostly about 'on the go' food - $10/$15 a plate
3. You want to visit the quieter commercial streets inside residential districts such as 'The Plateau'
4. If renting a Bixi bicycle, Please read the reviews on Trip Advisor first or it's going to cost and arm and a leg
5. Schwart's is the biggest messy hype in Montreal. Eat at any La Belle Province instead.
5. Montrealers are friendly on the surface but rather awkward in their relationships. Don't expect much human connection
Can I just say, if anyone visits Montréal, take the public transit. It's very interesting 😊
adnan is so kinnnd..

Thanks 😊
It's fascinating to me how Montreal seems very similar to Brussels in many ways
Montrealer living in Brussels, I can confirm. Montreal is a just a bigger/more populated version.
I've lived in Montreal my whole life, the best thing to do is to leave.
😂
I don't know what are my favorite things to do there because I've never been to there. Peace.
Just don't go... use to live there. Horrible. Miss nothing. Montreal is amazing in February. Lol
Montreal sucks in general. Toronto is better
Worst city in Canada
Is learning French really necessary? The place looks like it has enough English speakers.
Some of the people I spoke to definitely speak french as their first language and just replied in english for the video
To work, yes. Unless you want to just do cleaning jobs. French is the official language of Quebec, just as Swedish is in Sweden. Quebec is not an officially bilingual province.
To visit, no. But outside of the big cities, in rural areas some may not speak English well or at all. In tourist areas everyone will.
