Mazda is a very small company, but over the last decade have really reinvented themselves & surpassed (IMO) both Honda & Toyota at building quality, refined ICE vehicles.

I purchased 2022 CX-30 Turbo Premium Soul Red white interior with 2,600 miles a week ago. Put 500 miles on it since. I also test drove the non turbo. If your a "driver" turbo is the only option.
When you accelerate in a non-turbo, the tranny is constantly trying to search for a gear to accommodate its lack of power.
The Adaptive Headlights in conjunction with auto high beams is amazing. Night driving is now lit up like Yankee stadium at all times. Should be mandatory. Would save many lives. Rides like a luxury car. At 80 MPH almost as quiet as a Lincoln Continental. Stability is AMAZING! Plenty of leg room in the rear with the front seats set at the mid-way point. My 6' tall son got in back & his knees were 4" from front seat.
They always show someone getting in the rear with the front seats all the way back. Misleading! Great for a family of four. You most certainly can shut off safety features. Infotainment system is amazing!!!
Took me a day to learn. Bose stereo sounded rich & deep however I wish it had a subwoofer volume level. Increased oil consumption is very rare in the turbo. Mazda has addressed this. All models produced from June 2022 to the present are fine. On models before, Mazda is repairing on a case by case basis. If you hate the cladding I guess dont buy. I like it especially after detailing. It saved me time & energy. Oh yeah, Zoom freaking Zoom!

The non turbo isn’t under powered. The transmission finds the gear right away. Buy new next time

    • @jamesdavis6036

@@nicholastedeschi2867 Why should I buy new? If I did, I would of had the 8/6/4 cylinder shutdown. Why would I want that? It was a loner from Mazda with 2,000 miles on it. Out the door including tax $29,000. 2022 new with my options $37,500. I also got it certified with a total of 5 years on the drive-train.
The non-turbo sucks. Give it a little power it starts downshifting searching for the right gear. Once it finds it, it immediately upshifts. If you know how to drive, LIKE YOU, I'm sure it's fine.
But for a "Driver", it's awful.
      Have a nice day, imbecile!

I got it certified with an extra 2 years warranty on the power train totalling 5. The non-turbo sucks.
Give it a little gas, it downshifts then a few seconds later it upshifts. The tranny compensates for its lack of power.
Go back to base for training!

Dodge hornet , give me a break. The only thing to compete with this vehicle is Acura, Lexus , BMW , Mercedes. The last 2 only in interior material quality other than that those 2 do not belong in the same reliability category. If your a smart car buyer your only choice is Subaru, Mazda , Toyota and Honda ( Acura ) that's it.

The Japanese just do it better. American corporations are only worried about how much profit their going to make this quarter. The Japanese are all about building a reputation of quality and reliability. I ended up with a 23 CX-30 with an NA 2.5 L carbon edition and I’m pretty happy with its initial quality and fuel mileage. The other possibility we’re a Corolla cross or Subaru Crosstrek. I actually loved the looks of the AWD Mazda 3 Carbon edition better but the cx 30 was just more practical for me.

With 99% of our viewers coming from the US it makes no sense bringing up trims, packages, and cars they won’t see at dealerships. The Massachusetts state plates and the name of our channel pretty much determine we’re covering US specced cars. More important for our international viewers is our takes on driving dynamics which shouldn’t differ to greatly from our neighbors to the north.

Needs to be 3-5 inches longer. Exclusively put into rear leg room and storage area.
    Needs a CVT/ 8-speed transmission
    Updated infotainment
    Remove horrendous black cladding
    Bonus:
DRLs instead of using the low beam bulbs
    Larger gas tank/ hybrid system
    Good vid 👍

i agree with everything except the CVT. 8 gears are nice and updated, but the classic 6 + Turbo work great.
the black cladding only works in certain colorsways, which is why i got mine in Jet Black Mica + Red leather interior.
everything else i 100% agree with (rear room, gas tank size, DRLs etc)

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_ Рік тому +1

@@EazybakeEvan Have to remember the mass seller will be the base engine and not the turbo. For a turbo gears make more sense, but for economy commuters, the mass volume of sales benefits from the CVT so it's tricky. It's possible they can do 2 different options like Honda for example with their 10 speed and CVT on the 1.5T and 2.0T
Problem is Mazda probably doesn't have the budget

@Striker50_ I feel like Mazda marketing is saying, "if fuel economy is #1 priority on your list, shop elsewhere cause it's not #1 on ours" and I'm completely okay with that cause of how well their product excels in other departments like fit&finish, driving dynamics, interior and exterior styling. So if a CVT and fuel economy number is all you're chasing, go buy a Prius.

The black cladding is really ugly, a real turn off for me, especially because I prefer white or very light colored cars. They don't show the dust and dirt as easily and don't end up with swirl marks on the paint.

Another sore spot is that AWD was made standard for 2022+. It further alienates the brand and worsens the already lowest in-class MPGs.
I see Mazda as a TREMENDOUS value purchase in the used market segment, but for a new vehicle, Mazda can't compete yet in where the majority of buyers are interested ( MPGs, tech, cargo room, passenger room)

We test drove, but opted against for two reasons. The deal killer for use is the thick plastic cladding. We hold onto our vehicles for 10+ years, and I can imagine how the plastic will fade and degrade over time. Not interested. It's really garish. The turbo is exhilarating; we felt the non-turbo lacked the punch/zip of both our other Mazdas. Interior design is excellent. If it weren't for that plastic cladding, maybe.

@@OhLookItsKatamari We ended up buying a 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. I’m a bit nervous about long term reliability and overall cost of ownership, but it is quite impressive! Our other Mazdas are a 2007 Mazda 3 hatchback, 175k miles and still going strong - no issues, just routine maintenance. And hands down, the family’s favorite car to drive here on the windy mountain roads; and a 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback - higher trim line - looks great, improved power, but sadly less fun to drive. The longer, wider wheelbase makes for a more composed ride, but not as fun. No major issues, but the blind spot side mirror alerts stopped working around 50K miles for no clear reason.
