Embassy: What It Offers (and what it doesn't)

- Everything done for an RV build... the choice of van, the layout, available options... are all design elements that bring with them... compromises.
You can't have it all, because your choices limit what you can do with the RV. And this is true no matter what RV you buy.
So... what does Embassy offer and what do you really have to consider before buying one? Let's find out.

Great description of the process! I was in line to get a Coachman Beyond from a dealer who jacked up the price $27,000 when it was ready to be delivered. Thank God I was able to find some information on Embassy (Go Small Live Large) and now I’m somewhere around 30 in the queue! can’t wait to get it! Great explanation for those who are wondering about Custom Build and the process!
Thank you for the kind post. I like the Coachmen Beyond too. One of the few I find that really tries to fulfill customers needs.
I have heard some reports that some companies sell a van to a dealer at one price, but when it becomes available, add more to the price to make up for cost increases, which is just wrong in my opinion. That said, I believe some dealers are taking advantage of supply chain issues and jacking up prices accordingly. I get it... supply and demand, but I also believe if you set a price, you stick to it. Be seeing you!
BTW... if you haven't already, consider joining the Embassy Owners and Wannabes group on Facebook... lots of info and good times! (link in description).

Hope to meet y’all soon. Probably won’t sing…
@@davidcamuccio5220 ah... c'mon! Singin' is half the fun! 😆
Thank you for the video. I am at the bottom of the build list now, and love seeing videos. I’m so glad I found the embassy!
You are so welcome!
Thank you very much for taking time and explaining what EMBASSY RV has to offer. I have been following Roads of Life for some time now. I am hoping to pick up my Embassy RV in the early part of 2023. I also realize what it has to offer. I am very impressed with the quality of workmanship in this RV. BE seeing you.
Thank YOU so much for commenting and following the channel. Never quite sure if I'm saying anything valuable, but glad to help when I can. Be seeing you too, hopefully in your new Embassy RV! 👍🏻
Excellent video presentation by Robert. Maybe you should be the new advocate for Embassy RV.... A new career for you. Well done.
Great overview, Robert!
Thanks!
Nice work, Robert!
Thanks so much!
You are amazing and honest. Well done video.
Thank you 😊
Really liked your video. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
This is an excellent, wisdom-filled piece about choosing a van and a van build. I like the marine materials and systems approach that Embassy uses, despite some of the downsides. As I watched this video, I thought about resale value. Lots of people like the "warmth" of wood and the "luxe" glitter of stainless steel, glass, gold-finished faucets, etc. Many people might think the Embassy builds look sterile. I think that, if one took reasonable care of it, a ten year old Embassy van would look, sound, and smell brand new. Nothing would be warped or moldy. It wouldn't have the advances made in those ten years, but it would still be a very solid, practical product. The coming electric vehicle era might cause problems, but the van itself would not. (I don't have any connection with Embassy. I don't even own a van yet, so I have no stake in this.)
You have made some great observations. Embassy now has some other options, like opening windows and some other color choices (still no wood though!). The other nice thing is, if you want to upgrade your van and add new advances, for the most part... you can! It costs of course, but since the builds are made to allow for this, you don't have to buy an entirely new RV. Thanks for posting such great comments!
@@RoadsofLife You are most welcome. Thanks for the additional information. I learn a lot from your videos. So, thank you!
The toilet is a dealbreaker for my wife. Nothing would convince her. 🤷🏻♂️
It's a dealbreaker for a lot of people, I tell you what! We haven't had any issues, but I fully understand why people prefer black tanks. Thanks for commenting!
Great video, how did you go about selecting a different toilet style and how much extra did it cost? It seems like a less expensive style, but you said you paid extra to get it installed..
Back when we got our Embassy, the only toilet they offered was the Laveo, which we didn't want. I researched and found the C-Head. Embassy said they would install it instead but I had to buy the toilet. So I did.
Nowadays, they offer two different toilets... the Laveo Dry Flush and the Separett Tiny. I think there is a little upcharge for the Separett since it costs a lot more than the Laveo.
Regrettably, I believe C-Head is out of business, so that isn't an option anymore.
What I've never heard, and frankly doubt, is that you can't have opening windows if you have rooftop AC unit. Can't have? That would mean a DOT regulation prohibits it. Or do you mean, Embassy simply chose not to offer that combination?
As I understand it, the rule was you could not have opening windows with the split a/c system, but these rules have changed, so now you can get opening windows if you want them.
That's the thing with videos like this... things change over time, so you have to talk to the manufacturer to confirm everything. Thanks for commenting.
Floor plan. Floor plan. Floor plan!
And don't forget Floor plan!
Lots of pros with the Embassy. Im just not a fan of the bathroom .
Interested to know what is it you don't like about the bathroom. Toilet? Shower setup? Some people seem to like black tanks so I can see where the toilet would be an issue for them. Thanks for commenting!
@@RoadsofLife The curtain around the toilet was kinda cheesy. I think a better solution can be found. And a sightly better shower design would be nice. I know time spent in a bathroom is minimal. But being comfortable helps. Overall love the fact that there's no wood.
I saw a toilet that burned the waste. I wonder how that would work???
@@superstarcat7654 I looked at those a while back. Regrettably, those systems use a HUGE amount of power to burn waste and take over an hour to do so. You would use up a battery relatively quickly in the van, even though the Embassy can have a 920 Ah battery. It also creates heat... and lots of it, that is now heating up your van. That might be nice in a cold winter, but really not good any other time. Thanks for commenting!
@@RoadsofLife
Thanks for the info. There are a couple of things I didn’t think of about the burnt waste toilet. A bagging toilet sounds pretty good.
What is a ballpark cost to start off?
Good question, but really hard to answer. Since the recent unpleasantness, costs have gone way up. A Ford Transit has gone up almost $10k in the last year alone. Costs for other items, when available, have risen too. I can only guess, but a basic build would probably run around $152k before any modifications. You would also have to add your states taxes and fees to the final cost.
Info I received from embassy:
3 floorplans on the Transit vans, and 2 on Promaster or Sprinter. The Dolphin SS, S, and SL are available on the extended Transit featuring the split system A/C, ballpark pricing for the standard build is $153,142.00.
The Dolphin SS and S are available on the Promaster, features roof A/C, split system not available. Ballpark pricing for the Promaster standard built is $145,350.00.
The Dolphin SS and S are available on the Sprinter, features roof A/C, split system not available. Ballpark pricing for the Sprinter standard built will vary with comfort options chosen in the cabin, estimated average pricing is $164,300.00.
@@Dizzyskyline The Promaster price is remarkable... I looked up prices for a Travato KL and was getting an average price of $187k (below MSRP of $219k!!). Even if you got an additional 20% off from the dealer, you are looking at $150k, not including dealer costs. Even if you added another $10k of customizations to the Embassy, you are only paying $5k more for a customized no wood well insulated RV!!
@@RoadsofLife Winnebago is worth the cost!
@@gosman949 Glad you found the van for you. What do you like about Winnebago, or more specifically, your model of Winnebago, that leads you to say it is worth the cost? In other words, what makes you love your van? Love to hear positive views on van builds (there are too many negative ones out there!). Thanks for commenting!
How did you get Nathan Lane to do this video?
I know people!
Cassette toilet rules....
I agree! Cassette toilets don't hold much but as a solo traveler I would rather bring my casette into ANY PUBLIC BATHROOM (rest area, fast food joint or gas station, one nighter motel, or even a park facility!) bring a bottle of water to rinse it and you're done! NO STINKY SLINKY ! LOL
