Great video. Loving seeing you parents supporting your dream 2 tips Air down for sand and mud. Makes ride more comfortable and lots better traction. Ask the parents for a Viair pump if you don’t have one. - cheap knee high barn boots are good for walking puddles and streams. If it’s over my knees I don’t want to drive through it. A nice pair of loppers also handy in NJ to avoid Texas pinstripes on that nice new truck 😊
Off roading is not illegal in NJ as long as the vehicle you are using is registered and licensed. Basically if you can legally drive your vehicle to the trail, you can drive the dirt roads. The only "vehicles" that are illegal are those not for street use like quads, trikes, side-by-sides, and unregistered dirt bikes.
Omg all the way from Hawai’i!! That’s so exciting! My parents and my pup are my adventure buddies 😂 I drag them everywhere 😂 they are the best! Thank you so much for watching ☺️
The big puddles aren't really the hardest part. The hardest part of the pine barrens is when you're on some of the roads and it's just a succession of really small but constant bumps so there's no way you can be comfortable as you are driving along. Quakerbridge road and the Washington Turnpike (dirt roads) are like this. Also on really narrow roads you can get little scratches in your paint from the tree branches. The pine barrens qualifies as off-roading for sure it's still pretty beginner level. I drove completely through Wharton State Forest from Atsion to Batso within a few hours. You can drive some of the roads with just a car but at least a pick-up is necessary for others. If you have just a car and want to do this I recommend going to Brendan T. Byrne Forest where the roads tend to be a little wider.
I live in Manchester and ride my dual sport TW200 in the woods often. My advice? Have your GPS, but put it down and just drive and explore. You're only in little NJ and as long as you have gas, you're good to go. You're never far from paved roads and probably always have cellular service. One thing to pay attention to is watch for signs that tell you you are on military property. It can be easy to stumble onto McGuire, Ft. Dix or Lakehurst Naval Air Station land. If you haven't gone in this way, High Bridge Rd. in Jackson off of CR 571 will start a nice ride for you. If you don't know, if it's been wet weather in the previous days, there will be large puddles to cross and as you see, there may be hidden deep ruts. Anyway, enjoy and be safe.
I grew up in the pine barrens of south jersey, awesome place but I have lived in the great free state of North Carolina now for more than 25 years in the Pisgah national forest with more trails to explore than you will find in NJ. And bigfoot is everywhere around these parts
Smart, that you get out and walk the tail and pick a safe line through ...I did Warton In a front wheel drive Fiesta years ago just by picking the right lines an avoiding "soft sand" traps
That’s awesome you get to do that with your new Tacoma. You get to have lots of fun exploring on the trails and learning about off-roading. Like your new truck. Wish I can do that also. My Tacoma is a pre runner. Out here In SoCal I don’t use 4x4 as much with my time off. You have a awesome truck and fun time. Love all your vlogs.👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰
Definitely not illegal, don't know where you got that from, the only places you cannot go are posted usually orange placard. Also if you go more in towards the camping section there are plenty of trails...just be careful cause them water holes over there are roughly 4ft deep, hence the reason we go, good video. Best way to learn is stay in the vehicle and just go for it, that's what makes it adventurous 😎😎😎😎
Hi Alex , really enjoyed the video! Keep up the great work and keep following your dreams . Im from that general area .. it’s crazy the amount of trails in the pine barrens
I can tell exactly where you started I recognize that fence! I love exploring the Pine Barrens even though after a while it all looks the same lol but it is actually a really unique environment only found in a couple other places in the entire world.
Also what you said about it being illegal is kind of true, you are safe if you stick to designated roads or well established trials. but that dirtbike that passed you would get in trouble. Only street legal vehicles are allowed.
I spent tons of time down there in the Wharton State Forrest! Easy to get turned around and lost down there, good to see you've got a gps! Lots of organizatins have events back on those roads. There are dog "sledding" (on wheels) races and training events held by the Jersey Sands Sled Dog Association. Beagle groups do training and then there are motorcycle events, 4X4 clubs, mountain bike trail rides and hiking groups. Enjoy!
That’s batso fireline road also called railroad ave. There’s a few deep holes you gotta watch out for. Nice truck, fellow taco owner here! There’s a Group that meets up on sundays if you’re ever interested in a good trail ride.
that was cool!! im from NJ and i didnt not know that it was illegal to go off roading in NJ...I got myself a 4x4 rig but I cant wait to take my rig there!!

If you are looking for new trails I highly suggest Canaan Loop rd in Davis, WV. Intermediate level trail which a stock Taco should be capable of running. Forest Rd 18 is worth a drive while you are in town as well. Blackwater Falls State Park is pretty choice waterfall chasing and the art scene in Thomas, WV is great. Pizza at Sirrianis, live music at The Purple Fiddle, etc… Thanks for the tour of the Barrens. I’ve been meaning to check it out sometime.
Omg I love this !!! Thank you so much ! I have been trying to find good trails to go on with fun towns around them. I really appreciate this thank you !
@@AlexSAdventures Yeah man, the entire Canaan Valley region is a gem. The Dolly Sods Wilderness via Forest Rd 75(The Road Across The Sky)is fantastic as well. Check out Bear Rocks Preserve at the northern most point of FR 75 before it turns back down the mountain. Parking can be rough on nice weekends so mid week is best.
I just bought a bronco and really want to get into this, my first 'non paved' ride is for the shake a paw charity this weekend in Mahwah. Super stoked!
Try using Gaia GPS! Better than All Trails for sure. You can share routes with friends and such.. Sweet video though! Never knew about this spot so thank you! Looking forward to checking it out 👍
Off reading is legal in the pine barrens there. Cool vid glad u enjoyed, sugar sand….. steady pressure on the gas and keep moving. Air down tyres as well

Love calling south Jersey home , so many different adventures from the soft roads of the pine barrens to the coastal marshes of the bay and ocean you really can’t go wrong. Do you share your rides on instagram too? Great choice on the yota love my rav4 but would prefer what you have for more clearance and true 4wd vs my awd. Happy exploring. ✌️
Our little nook of south jersey is really a hidden gem! Love it so much And I don’t share much of my truck stuff on insta, just mostly UA-cam. Thank you so much for watching!
One thing I learn is when you see like a giant puddle/ mud spot like that with water, throw a stick in it and see if it stands and stays. If that happens is a trap, is likely to get stuck. Didn't know off roading was illegal in NJ
Cross country travel would be, but the sand roads are perfectly legal. Same for most public lands, actually. She just made a bigger deal out of it than it really is.
Have you used any other nav apps? Currently have onX off-road but it hasn’t been the best for NJ/ PA/ NY in my experience. You should host a subscriber group drive, haven’t been down to the barrens in years and would love to go back
I love subs! Have you been to any of the off road parks in northern PA? They have some good ones along with Allegheny national forest, loads of trails.
Wharton is not a "National" forest, but rather a "State" forest. No biggie, just want to clarify. It is, however part of the Pinelands National Reserve.
@@AlexSAdventures I live not too far from it, lmk I love exploring but it’s sketchy going alone. There’s a couple fb groups u can join too. New Jersey overland is one

What's illegal is making your own trails tearing up the brush. Stay on the sand roads! What. I can't figure out is why swimming is illegal on state land. I guess they got tired of carrying out the bodies 😞
Well, yes, but what she said isn't really accurate. Traveling the sand roads is perfectly legal. Cross country travel is not legal, and I have yet to be on any public lands aside from dune fields where cross country or true off road travel is legal. People do it, and put in new trails a lot, but they are not supposed to do that.

Youre allowed street legal vehicles in Wharton. Just follow the "motorized access plan" map only. Dont blaze trails or go on hiking trails.
