I have owned 1UPUSA racks for a couple of years and love them. I recently bought a QUIKRSTUFF rack. It is way better in every way. It fixes all the shortcomings of 1UPUSA racks. It turns out it is designed by the same guy that designed the original 1UPUSA rack and he started a new company. QUIKRSTUFF is not cheap unfortunately but it is built like a tank and feels like it will last for decades. The great thing about 1UPUSA racks is that they hold their value very well and I sold it for a lot which helped me pay for the QUIKRSTUFF rack. No regrets making the switch.
All true. Love Quikrstuff rack. Expensive but very well made.
At that price level, Kuat Piston should not be overlooked.
I recently bought the Rocky Mounts Guiderail 2". Pretty impressed with it. Very similar to the 1up and I imagine on purpose. However, a nice integrated chain lock solution and overall seems more refined than the 1up (roughly comparing to watching my buddies use their 1up racks and some of their complaints). Worth checking out.
Agree with everything you said. I have a 1Up and an older Kuat NV2.0. The NV keeps your bike a lot more stable.
I have NV 2 with 4 bikes. Need second rack and looking at 1up. So are you saying Kuat is better?
@@marcin97nah movement is not a big deal, all bike racks have some movement, just some more than others, but not a big deal
Agree the arms do not open wide enough it's a PIA to load & unload bikes on this rack . The older One Up opens up much wider . I will stay with my older One Up rack. Good review Francis
I have the Heavy Duty with the 2” hitch - it’s very solid, love how it looks folded up when not in use. It isn’t cheap/plastic looking like most of the others and it gets the job done well. As far as the cons, they’re minimal in my opinion for the quality/ engineering of the rack. My HD opens plenty wide to fit my long (large) Switchblade.
Yeah, it's really nice, I went with rocky mounts with a swing away. I'm happy with it. I'm not used to the bounce of bikes. I came from a Northshore rack.
I have to say it is by far the most athleticly pleasing looking rack there!!!
Interesting design. Can’t say I’ve seen anything like it for sale here in Norway, but Thule pretty much owns this market. Luckily they also make nice racks..
The more reviews i see the less i want one. I have an original thule x2 i love but i need a second rack. I wish i could still get the og x2
Most ebikes are over 50lbs. I remove the battery to stay under the limit. Not sure what the fudge factor is in the weight limit
I had 1up last year for a month...sturdy but too hard to load compared to the Kuat NV2 which I replaced it with...latter super quick mounting and works great for long wheel base as well as 3.0+ tires. Perfect...no, but not as many flaws as 1 UP.
How on earth can anything be "faster" than the 1UP? It literally takes me about 15 seconds to load/secure my bike on a 1UP. I've used Thule as well, and it was similar, ~10-20 seconds to secure and be ready to go, so it's not like 1UP is "better", but I can't see how any rack could be much faster than the modern platforms from the top brands (all of them, again, not singling out 1UP as the best).
@@michaelfink2070 Don't know...I guess you're just a stud? But the new one up ihas mproved on the need to use two hands. So, that's my next rack. The NV2 is definitely easy but not as sturdy.💪
@@tomcagle5324Hardly a stud, and not all that coordinated either. ;) But I am serious, what/who has something easier than 1UPs hold down for the bike? I honestly can't imagine what could be faster, so I'd like to see what else is out there that's even easier.
@@michaelfink2070 That's what all the 1 UP employees ask I guess. 😉
Any chance I can use your employee discount for a future purchase?
That being said, I do like the NV quickness and stiffer tray and front wheel bar. I had to strap down the center at the motor on the 1 UP when I knew I was going on a bumpy dirt road to prevent "flex"...kind of a minor flaw but noticable. If I could put the NV tray on the 1 UP hitch mount like a franken rack...perfection! 🤟
@@tomcagle5324 Wish I had a discount that I could share! ;) I didn't realize you were talking about an e-bike and additional straps, that explains how something could be faster. I use mine to haul around a mountain bike, no straps, just the 2 wheel holders. It's 30 seconds on/off if I'm feeling slow/lazy, could do it in 15 if I was trying to show off. ;)
Does it have enough height clearance so I don’t need to worry about the “bike behind exhaust” issue? I have a 2020 Macan S and want to carry my kenevo sl
Is this the best one for electric and regular bikes? I am trying to decide which rack from 1 up USA to get for both bikes. I don't under stand the heavy duty vs the super duty etc.
I have the 2” super duty single bike rack. It’s rated for 50 lbs I think.
My 2022 turbo Levo with 700w battery weights 54 lbs.
it’s the comp carbon.
Your turbo Levo isn’t similar weight, just over weight capacity of this bike rack?
I bet there is at least 10% deviation in that limit. If worried, put the heavier bike closer to the car, take out all water bottles and driver careful
Is it okay to bring it into a drive through car wash?
Can you ride like that in your country with licenceplate covered? Is against law here.
It’s not legal but extremely common snd I’ve never been pulled over in 15+ years and thousands of miles
PINOY!!!! … 👍🏼🥃🇺🇸
Mabuhay!
Hi, so which ebike rack do u recommend between the Saris and 1up? Thank u 🙏🏼
I would say the 1UPUSA Super Duty is best for looks, longevity and resale. The Saris MHS is a close second and is a little easier to use with one-handed arm operation and quick release tilt.
@@EMTBReviewthanks, still debating if 1up or saris mhs, since saris has like a one click thingy and the wheel holders goes all the way down .. but thanks again sir.. much appreciated 😊
This is out for me (girlfriend actually) since she need a rack that can use a ramp for her ebike that also has fenders.
Saris MHS looks like a possibility and has ramp ability and special fender inserts you can install on the rack arms.
The Equip-D is what happens when you lose your designer and try to update the design anyway :(
I prefer the other overpriced rack , quickr
@@EMTBReview its just a little more refined. The built in lock mechanism is nice. Its super solid. It's more than you need but it's just a good piece of engineering. The equip-d would be very comparable. I had to wait 1 yr. Crazy. I only use it as a single and I like it's compactness.
@@EMTBReview Choose between 1, 2, 3, or 4 bikes. Completely tool free installation for both installing on the car and installing/removing the add-ons. No extra hardware to install for "EZ Pull", each add-on connects to the previous one so you always have the release at the end of the rack. Arms fold completely out of the way for bike removal (they can fold *below* the base if needed). Beautiful machining. Anodizing with function (red items are for install/removal, blue items are for security). No ratcheting sound when moving the arms. Or just watch the video :) ua-cam.com/video/k5FVVPlipd8/v-deo.html
Lol, 35 lbs limit for 3-bike set up is a complete joke. Not to mention the laughable 50 lbs for the 2 bike version. Iconic? 😂
You need to calm down. The Equip-D is not their best offering IMHO but many who want a two bike rack are extremely pleased with it.
That's 35 lbs for the third bike. And 50 pounds for each the first two bikes. 135 total. Plenty for people with cross country/gravel bikes.
For bikes weighing 50lbs like emtbs, would you recommend this one vs super duty? Just got the super duty and I kinda want this one as it looks more streamlined
Definitely the Super Duty. This is streamlined because it has on spine instead of two. So this is definitely less sturdy on the left to right movement if there are rough roads.
If one heavy bike and/or smooth roads, this will be ok as well.
