Circooter Mate 800 watt electric scooter review - off-road full suspension beast
What is your height? Thanks.
Great vid
It also pushes a huge demographic of people away from the sport. That leaves a smaller % of people who actually have $10k for a pedal bike.
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you. I have a 2008 Trice T that I would like to convert. Because of my trike's age and configuration, a hub drive sounds like the obvious choice. One of the complaints I've heard about hub drives is spoke loosening or breakage. Have you seen much of a problem with this? I just want to tour and where I live, I have some hills where I need extra help. This was excellent information!
Honesty DB8 have more then enough power I can stoppy on anything. My e-bike weighs much more then yours as well
Same thing happened in the ski/snowboard industry. It used to be even those of us lower income folks could still afford a halfway decent bike. Now these sports are more and more catering to the elite. The bike industry needs to simplify things or at least have models available for the average person can afford.
Cracks me up, 72 years ago my parents built a 2000 square foot open beam ceiling home with central heating & air and a 3-sided fireplace for $13,000 in 1952, same price as a top end Santa Cruz, Pivot or Yeti *_bicycle._*
One of the things I imagine happened was back when there was a good chunk of money floating around and people could afford to throw a 10 or $12,000 mountain bike on their credit card, they sold like crazy, but now we've got trickle down poverty starting with covid and the last four nightmare years and a lot of these guys are having to dump the bikes cheap on the used market. So why spend 10 or 12 thousand dollars when you can get almost the same thing and great used condition for a third of that?
this thing weighs over 63lb,just wanted to say that. also you have to add that weight to the total capacity of 440lbs, which is awesome. i love mine and it does exactly what it's supposed to do and more. I had a few issues with the ECU resetting itself entirely. so now my mileage claims 350 miles but in actuality I have around 559-600.
also the suspension will wear in around 75-100 miles, depends on your weight. I weigh 215 and mine wore in and softened up at around 90 miles
Hello, help me know how to turn on the Bluetooth on the scooter screen to connect the app.
Glad to see it discharges both batteries when in use. This is the way it should be configured by default. The Orbea system discharges the range extender first. The problem is the cutover. When the range extender is dead, the bike goes into limp mode for ~1.5 miles. Depending on where you are in the trail, this can be a pretty big problem. I got really sick of having no power half way through every ride. Yes you can unplug it but now you have the charging port open to the elements, or you have to remove and carry it in your pack. Huge PITA. Orbea is well aware of the issue and chose to just add a blurb in the manual that power may be reduced instead of actually fixing it 😡
The Orbea range extender is 252 Wh, not 210.
If my aniioki A8 dual motor battery catch fire, rip hole building. That thing is huge (that’s what she said)
Great video! If you had to choose: Specialized Gen 3 Levo or Santa Cruz Vala?
Hi, have you got a faulty engine? Everyone on the internet is saying that the new Bosch is quieter than the Gen4. It seems that Brose is still the quietest full power engine out there. What's your opinion?
I ride a Pivot Shuttle SL and love it as it rides like a normal bike but the most important aspect for me is that my friends ride analogue bikes. Range anxiety is real though and weight seems to be a stupid argument now.
Best explanation out here. Thanks!
I can guarantee Yamaha is not out the game yet. Just gonna use another name so Yamaha hold no responsibility like ktm. They took notes from Harley and lime wire
Useful video. If you had to choose between Pivot Shuttle SL vs 2024 SC Heckler, and the new SC VALA, which one would you pick? (Preferably with a quieter motor).
Been riding mtb’s for over 30 years and there are more bikes on the trail than I’ve ever seen. Bikes are obviously selling like hotcakes yet companies are struggling to stay solvent. While this is happening, corporations/companies and CEO’s are raking in record profits. When are they going to stop digging their own graves and fleecing those us who are buying their bikes and components?
There are some difficult problems to solve for sure. A market correction is healthy to get back to basics and the key is they retool and really deliver us good value bicycles that maximize fun, and adventure instead of price.
I actually have that 2024 ktm 390 duke in full orange. Awesome bike on the backroads for only 400cc. It has so many more parts then any mtb. It has a computer dash! Fill lighting etc, on and on! The biking scam or profit scale is bizarre😂 If we will pay then it’s not illegal to sell the bikes that high.
In one sense, it's awesome to have all the tech, innovation and gucci factor. In another light though, the emperor has no clothes and outsiders not caught up in the hype are chucling.
The motorcycle industry in the U.S. charges $550 freight and $500 set up fee. Also the 390 duke costs even less in India maybe because you don’t have to ship it far and the citizens can only pay so much. Each motorcycle does come in 2 or more colors. I recently got back heavily into mountain biking, building hardtail mtbs. It’s about $2600 for a pretty good bike build. That’s a bike with only front suspension. $2600 for a high mid level mtb? I try and think what it should cost?……….. $1,500 maybe. The Santa Cruz full suspension I’m looking to get is $5000 on sale for $3500 plus tax. The componants and wheels are considered no better then mid tier. I am good with most of those parts, but I can’t imagine paying $5000 plus tax for a bike spec like that. Yes it is a niche market that has tried to go mainstream. I think they have hit a wall. Even I like having and building multiple bikes but $6-$10 per bike? No thanks. I’ll get my stuff on Facebook marketplace and wait for the door buster sales. I don’t think they can sustain a business model like that
Are the $550 and $500 fees in addition to the retail price? Yes, right now, Facebook Marketplace is a goldmine because of this bike market correction.
@ yes, pretty standard U.S. practice. You usually will as dealer for out the door price. I got the 2024 ktm 390 duke in January, so no deals $6299+ $450 setup, $550 freight, $1000 tax, registration exc. so $8,500, then $400 at 600 mile service. And back in January loan interest was 9% on a motorcycle. In 2020 my truck was 3%That’s a lot for that size cc bike. Now I’m learning ,buy at a better time, sometimes you can not pay the set up part or buy one with super low miles on a return so to eliminate the setup, freight and that 600 mile service cost. Man you really have to educate yourself or you will over pay by a lot. I think I am going to go Facebook for the Santa Cruz, but I have to wait for right bike with seller that got it on sale or just wants to move it fast out off their life.
Are these available in the US? I have never been able to find them in stock online, and my LBS said it was a 2025 product.
They are hard to find and mostly available on waiting list, preorder.
If you buy an ebike for 11,000, then after two years you can sell it for half the price at most, even if it is in very good condition. Most suppliers drastically reduce their prices on new bikes within a year.
They churn and burn every year,it seems on the top models. And the Gucci crowd does not seem to like used stuff
Good video Sir, thank you.
So nice of you
Crist you r full of shit. You just make reason why ppl should pay stupid amount. Even sadder is that mist of u seem to agree with him. No wonder world goes bumbum 😂😂
Finally someone said it. I would never spend 10k on an emtb, so i dont buy one.
Someone has to tell the twuth
I have this bike -- I like it. It crushes the hills around my neighborhood.
Sooo good even on hills
You might want to rethink your supply and demand chart... Quite sure you didn't characterise bikes as Veblen goods.
Explain please
In your chart demand goes up with the price. The labels should be switched and the demand should move down left for the lower price
Thats it, I’m selling my Exie and buying the KTM.
Proof positive right there
As always, very clear and well made videos. I ordered my Pivot, but it hasn't been delivered yet and I would like to order the Fox Neo coil shock absorber but I can't find the exact specifications mounted on the Pivot to order it. Could you kindly help me? thanks, see you soon
Just because mountainbikes are different in some aspect doesnt mean it costs money and is a reason for the price difference.
True story. It’s not a Gucci bag!!
All I can say is ....BRAVO !
This video is for the media brave
you talk about motorcycles 'on a stable platform that does not change much. There has been a heap of changes, generally in a 3 year cycle. Alos KTM does have other colours ( generally two colours) KAwasaki has a host of colours other than green
Thank you for the insight.
Always with the greed, what goes around comes around. Should still have brakes that work well, cheapo bikes set me on my path for a working system.
Very true! Market corrections exist for a reason and we haven't had one in bikes for a while.
I’d take the Ducati
Is that your final answer?
I’m a lifer MTB/trial/DH guy and even moved to a resort town so i could ride all summer and ski all winter. Last year I wanted to upgrade my XC to a Trek Slash. I was even a mechanic at the LBS for a couple summers. When they told me the cost I said yelp…. I went over to the Moto dealership and bought a KLX300 and the leftover $, I got all the gear. I feel like a traitor to cycling but the bike companies pushed me out! Few of my friends have also made the switch. I still ride my MTB and gravel sometimes, I ride trial at the skatepark for exercise, but I LOVE my dirtbike! Im a huge fan of your RC channel.
And this right here is the saddest story of em all. Not only is the industry roadblocking new riders from entering the sport, they are also chasing away lifelong cyclists and mountain bikers. It is not a good recipe for good health and a growing industry. I appreciate the share.
Hope like hell Yamaha stands behind the motor with parts/service/warranty. The rest of it is easily dealt-with at a standard bicycle shop. The gravel bike seemed like a turd compared to others in the market at a similar MSRP - 40+ lbs and a rat's nest of cables/hoses in the front, so I'm not surprised nobody wanted 'em at $4K MSRP. At less than $1700 I can see someone taking a chance, though did they know these were close-outs from someone bailing out of the US market?
That's the key right there.
The Yamaha ebike motors are not leaving the US market.
Some good points But you have missed a few important points. Motorcycle industry works on an average 10 - 15% margin. Bicycle industry workers on an average of was 40% but now 30% margin More bicycles are sold in the US than motorcycles. Now motorcycles are sold as a whole motorcycle and all the components are covered by the motorcycle brand, if a component keeps failing or needs replacing under warranty? This lets the motorcycle manufacturer get a discount for the next year’s range and saves a load of money as each component brand does not have to have its full service and warranty system like they do in the bicycle industry. Bicycles are sold as the frame and the components because of this the bicycle industry cannot get discounts on the components as it’s driven by the component manufacturers not the brand manufacture of the bikes. The system is so screwed up in the bicycle industry with so many people getting their fair share of money from each part of the industry and components . The bicycle industry does need a shake up and needs to get more professional and start learning for motorcycle brands. How to get a better price to the Customer.
Very good points. Much thanks. I talk about margins in the video motorcycle/dealer takes 15%/15% while bicycle takes 30% each. More bicycles are sold but most of those are irrelevant to this discussion, aka under $500.. For components, bike manufacturers get huge discounts on them. Something very different though is components in the bike industry CAN get very expensive. They all have their own brand, marketing, race teams, etc. That all adds to the cost. Thank you again. Moto industry is different but bike industry can learn a lot from it for sure.
Here In the UK, ebikes are cheap now, £5k gets you a very top spec bike 😆
Oh wow! Same here in the US. Every ebike is on sale. The fear though is the return to those hideous Retail prices.
Also, hate the way they make their way over priced batteries proprietary. I understand with Yamaha and Bosch (and probably others or all) if you try to replace the cells and interrupt the voltage, the software bricks. This is completely unnecessary and just makes more waste.
Yes these systems are very closed for safety but they make things restrictive for the enthusiasts as well
That's too bad about Yamaha pulling out. Don't care for their bikes but I had a Haibike All Mtn for 8 years, riding over 3k miles and it worked perfectly. Battery still tested out at +90% when I sold it a year ago.
Yeah, Yamaha is better as a motor manufacturer. They're good with reliability, now they just have innovate fast with the motors.
Yes it's a bit unbalanced and has been for ever, even when I owned my own shop (1989-2002) I couldn't understand the difference between a motorcross bike at $6k and a good MTB at $6k, just never made sense to me then or now,and it's still the same and the smile factor is always with the motorcycle, but I did just buy a Cube at 45% off 👍
Great share!!! With ebikes not at 40-50% off, the yare delivering good value!
They should sale extended warranties on motors and batteries and all the electronics on new bikes that kick in after the factory warranty like they do on cars. I would for sure pay a couple hundred extra to have my bike covered for extra years after the factory warranty since I can’t afford to buy a new bike every couple years.
That is a great, great idea. One of the existing problems of the bike industry is they want you to get their new bike every 2-4 years. Not very nice and not very healthy for sure!!!!!
The real price of the high components and overall os actually $1500
$1500 for which price level of bike?
Same goes with Luxury bags they just go with luxury by selling on performance etc etc. Thats why we need Chinese made product and remove the magic of luxury mindset and it is starting
We need great innovation, great reliability and good value. We don't really need cheap and unsafe stuff in mountain biking. But Chinese products are making waves in the commuter bike market. They'll offer a good gut check in mountain biking in a few years.
Your greatest point is the e mtb market not caring about grams. So true I purchased my Rail 7 aluminum frame intentionally at 50% savings over retail and 70% savings over carbon fiber frame models. My first upgrade was a steel rail seat no more expensive titanium rail seats saved another 50%. My 24lb 2004 Titus Racer X equipped with all XTR was $4800 in 2004. I just purchased a new left over 2023 Trek Rail 7 for $3200 granted it weighs twice as much as my Racer X did …ha ha I don’t care.
Well said!
The prices are crazy high. But we keep paying it. How dumb are we?
We either pay for it or covet it. And that keeps prices high
Mountain bike = nature = mental and physical health = like an apple a day.. and that motorbike = bay area traffic and mental stress and high probability of getting hit by morons.
The elephant in the room, it’s such a boutique market. But I’m here hanging on to my cable actuated rear mech and aluminum rimmed wheels, aluminum cranks , still works great.
The boutique/exotic element is not a bad thing, (like in cars). But it shouldn't be the focal point or the goal everyone should aspire to.
