Another option for a DIY person is to get just the motor, remove the gear and mounting bracket from the old one and mount on the new one. Those motors cost around $18.00 when you get them from China. Time is money, so if you have the time you can save some money. Really enjoy these videos.
I’ve collected many tools over the years and watching your videos is encouraging me to get inside some of the ones not working and giving it a go to fix them up again ! Worried î’ endup sending a box from Dublin to Donegal for repair if I can’t get them back together properly 😂
Only thing left in my battery powered tools collection with DC motor is Makita sander and fan, but the fan is a both 14.4V, 18V and AC powered, so that explains it. Everything else is brushless, pricey, but longer life.
Any thoughts on The Makita 18v brushless 13 mm angle drill, wouldn't be used often just sometimes get caught wanting to swing a fair size hole saw in tight confines, thanks
So if I understand, a brushless moter is bs because instead of normaly changing the brushes, you have to buy a new motor now (with brushes in the motor) 😧
yes, but this drill is not brushless. This is a brushed dc motor. a brushless motor is better for most profesionals, more power, longer run time. Plus a brushless motor dose not over heat as easily as a brushed motor. There for they can do more, run longer and earn you more money. A brushless more is not like a brushed motor in that nothing wears out and needs changed. when you wear out a brushless motor, its burnt out.
Gday Dean after all your videos I’ve watched. You should start your own tool company. You know what the main faults are and could design well made tools without the faults and also make them all repairable with parts sold separately. Tradies would buy stuff like that instead of these companies making tools for planned obsolescence. Just a thought.
Your habit of repeating yourself over and over again it's quite odd. Do you know you said the word control or 17 times in this video? Motor-Switch-Controller....GOT IT.
Your looking at it like I'm doing this repair for this video. But I am actually making this video while doing this repair. This is what I do for a living and I'm simply recording the repair as i am working. It's real life me, so sadly there are many interruptions while recording and doing the repair. Phone calls, customers coming in, getting called away to help in the shop. I could start the repair and video, then get interrupted 3 or 4 times. It's hard to remember where you have left of and what you have been saying. So yes I do end up repeating myself a lot, it is part of it being a real repair, and not a staged or setup video.

Is it possible to just open the motor casing and install new brushes?
@@giovannifoulmouth7205 Yes, it is possible to open, replace brushes and re-seal these motors. brushes are like 2 eur.

Dr. Dean Doherty, performing yet another successful Surgery! 👍
Catch your drift on use of machine. Enjoyed the teardown and back in operation. Thanks for your time!
Thanks 👍
Afternoon, nice job there Dean. Love your videos. Lookin' forward to the next one.
Thanks 👍

Another great one Dean, keep up the fantastic work!!!!!!!!!
Quality of DeWalt tools has really gonne down the sh*tter. Out of all the tools in Dean's repair videos, DeWalt is the most frequent brand.
1st here, im okay with it. just before heading to work
Thank you Sir
Nice
You seem busy already, but if not, you should start fixing e-bike motors. I think that will be quite big in short while.
Ah! I've had this exact issue, one of the brushes disintegrated and wrecked the commutator anyway, so a new motor was the only option.
Any thoughts on The Makita 18v brushless 13 mm angle drill, wouldn't be used often just sometimes get caught wanting to swing a fair size hole saw in tight confines, thanks
Do it, it’s good to go!
Why they use still motors with no option to change brushes?
I agree - have this drill, and it’s annoying that one can’t change the brushes. Hopefully by the time mine dies, there’ll be an XR version.
Actually, the motor flange has a tab so the motor can only be installed in one way.
The motor you replaced on this Dewalt was a mabuchi motor.
i have the motor in my hand right now, its not a mabuchi motor.
In what u have wash the item diesel are water reply plzz
Kerosene
I think you forgot to put grease in the new motor

So its a pro grade tool with brushed motor that you can't change the brushes... Really shame where the tool industry has gone.
