Not only is the implementation poor, but without this video actually knowing what the implementation is before purchasing is impossible. Spend hundreds to realize it is junk. Unless we are subscribed to you ;)
    Cheers to another great video!

Thank you for the video, very informative! I wish they had something better than h264 to help with storage.

I love the stacking feature. I am doing a building with 25 G5 Domes inside and those will be on one UNVR Pro with 56 TBs of storage. I will be doing 8 G5 Pros outside with 56 TB of storage as well. This will be on the other UNVR Pro and the client can still see all the cameras but the processing load will be spread out between the two UNVR Pro. It's really a great system

I am near the max capacity in my NVR. Upgrading to the Pro seems ridiculous given the incremental increase. I kinda expected that stacking would not meet expectation, given the little I did know about it. So I have been waiting for the next gen NVR before I convert the rest of my cams to 2K/4K. This video validates my approach.

They have heavy discounts now on the unvr, so it seems new models may be coming.
However, in my opinion, the hardwares for the two current models are very good already. What puts me off is the disgusting purposely buried limitations on stacking.

@@hz777 For my purposes, I just need increased cam count scale. 1 week of storage or better. Currently have silly amount of storage with 4x16tb drives. I don't really need enterprise features like HA or failover. If something dies, whatever, I'll survive. I am not complying with regulation. I just have a fuckton of cams because I am a geek with money. But I also don't want unnecessary complexity. So a single chassis, higher scale solution is what I want. Make it $1k, whatever. That is like 2 cams.

@@toddshreveMy most cameras are $50ish hosted on synologies :D
Yeah, 4K video is really hungry on CPU power. If your cameras are reaching the limit now already, after upgrading to 4k ones, for sure you need a $1000 nvr.

Thanks! Keep coming with these analysis breakdowns. Let's get one for UID, UID enterprise also when combined to a door acces pro, UID enterprise when combined with a UI DESKTOP agent Ala Cisco Duo...
Or how about what happens when you merge protect and access on the same controller device since they now integrate?

Sorry but I don't use UniFi access.

@@hz777 that's ok. It's another customer vertical for your customers. Something to plan for a future video!! Everyone who isn't using access is learning about it little by little so mine as well be ahead of the curve

The concept of stacking is basically when you’re over limiting you will add a new NVR mostly instead of used one so nothing to worry about losing previous recordings 😊

The concept of stacking was founded in the enterprise space. And in this space there is an expectation of higher availability, higher capacity, and a single control plane. That is, you increase the capacity in terms of compute, throughput, and storage without any drawbacks. It is exactly the same user experience, exactly the same everything, but more of it.
Ubiquiti often borrows terminology and concepts from the enterprise space, but rarely delivers enterprise products. Their price point makes this acceptable to most, but don't redefine the terminology.

@@toddshreve I was just saying the concept of stacking which Ubiquiti implemented not in favour of them they lack the features also stacking doesn’t make sense if you lose all your previous configs recordings.
