Mate your channel has came in leaps and bounds!, you need more recognition! Even as a UA-camr your videos are well thought out and productive. Not alot of channels keep my attention for so long but your on point. Well done
Azuo hub 🤣 Only us older people that were riding nice bikes in the 90s remember Onza. I love the humor. I think I caught all the jokes. Another great video. Thanks 👍
Hi Ali, I just want to make a couple points about your method: Regarding sodium hydroxide: it heats up when it dissolves, so adding it to boiling water (or even worse, pouring boiling water into a container of lye) is a sure way to get explosive offgassing. I actually use this effect to my advantage when clearing blocked drains, by pouring solid NaOH down the plughole and then, arm outstretched, pouring from a kettle down the drain. Using a scotch-brite or abrasive pad as the carrier for your polishing compound, defeats the purpose. The abrasive particles in a green pad are coarser than those in a polishing compound. That's why it was only leaving a matte finish. Also, try scuffing the paint with sandpaper before applying the stripper and you might get a better removal, as there will be perforations in the paint where the stripper can slip beneath.
18:56 I think it keeps the axle on that side from sliding out from harder sideways impacts, but also reinforces the hanger so it doesn't break that easy. I've seen a lot of similar hangers breaking in the middle where it's too thin. It's not a bad idea but when it has to face the forces it will cause the hanger to try and bend backwards, but i don't think that wheel ever gonna fall out so it's most likely a hanger reinforcement. Also sorry for my bad english, i'm still slowly learning it. But after this video i may try to build a trials bike from scrap till i buy back my DH that i sold like 7-8 months ago :D
Beautiful bike. It looks really old school. I really like these bike build videos. Your commenting in a calm voice is perfect. I work for service in a factory and it's quiet here on the night shift, so I watch videos and this calms me down a lot, it's great relaxation. 😀 The only thing I would do differently on this bike is to leave a disc brake. But then again, if it's old school, the choice of a rim brake is probably the right one. Good luck!
hey was it one of your build vids where that chrome paint finish came up? my old man wants to do some restoration and there's not enough metal to clean it up totally, and i'm sure i heard about chrome paint on primer with a clearcoat
Great video! Love the bike it looks super nice! I was cringing though when you were sawing off that front disk mount 😬 lol’in at the innuendos 😂😂 I like how you explain a bit about the chemicals and stripping the paint too - it’s one of those I’ve always been interested but not brave enough or had the time to do! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That turned out incredible! As a fan of natural metal colours on almost all my builds the bare aluminium is pretty tasty, bit different for me as a BMXer most of my parts are Chromoly/Super-Therm. The only thing I would've done differently? Black Grips, I get why you went Clear but I really think matching the Tyres would be the better way to go. Plus for whatever reasons you just can't beat how Black Grips feel! The compound is slightly different to Clear/Coloured & it's a tad annoying I notice it so much lol.
Another xxx down and dirty bike build with Ali the adult references in this one were absolutely sensational and Alis polishing in his younger days paid off the bike is looking mint lol
EPIC build session! I laughed when you cut the disc tap off, cause I would be doing that as well lol LYE with no gloves, you must really like the movie FIGHT CLUB.
It is a stunning piece of work. I'm never sure if your builds are kludged or you are seeking out specific components to achieve a particular style but either way the results are never disappointing.
I absolutely love watching your videos. I wish I had half your talent and skill! I also wish you the best of luck in life, and hope you get to the point you can get a real headset press! This comes from love man, I remember the days of hammering my old headset out and new cups into my old frames in college. And hoping my neighbors didn't complain.
You can absolutely polish all of that to a mirror finish with an electric polisher, even a polishing disc on a variable speed angle grinder or drill. Done it before, it doesn't last super long if you don't put 1k or 2k clear over top but then you can always just polish it again in an afternoon :)
Very nice build. 23:48 oh no, that rusty cable guide Watched whole video, but skipped the part when you cut off that brake mount. That was too brutal for me xd.
Brilliant, I recently did the same thing building myself a light mountain bike using an old uncracked titanium Airborne. I had to have some black because I used a set of carbon suspension correction forks but I think it looks good. Maybe you'll see it sometime as I live in Glasgow too :)
I can tell you from recent, personal experience that black Giant decals looks excellent on a nude alloy frame. I used black curly-bar tape instead of conventional grips for that build. Primarily because it was for tiny hands. Secondarily because it was all I had. But thirdly, it looks great on silver flat bars.
I'm not used to both loving and hating the aesthetics of a frame. I usually dislike swoops, but something about that frame is different. The top tube/seat tube/seat stays junctions are unique. Glad to see you upside down a road/XC stem. I've wondered before if that would work. (Like a Syntace Flatforce, for example.) Shame you had to sacrifice the Azuo logo on the front hub. 🤣 Gorgeous end result, Ali.
Love when you have builds with a great DIY touch like this. What are your opinions on Oury grips? They come in clear too and I've always been a huge fan of them.
This bike is incredible beautiful! Its very impressive that you set it up with v-brakes. Whats your experience with V-Brakes - especially when it gets muddy and wet? Can you do a tutorial how to setup V-brakes for trials riding? Thank you so much!
wow really nice frame, you should check out the DJB frame Octane1 Zircus, £114.00 currently, really similar curved seat tube and cheap as chips. Ive been riding them as a STB for some years.
Great build Ali. I love the raw metal look. I think I would have used braided metal brake housings but the Alligator links look mint. I am curious about your polishing experience. I am setting up my bicycle shop with a polishing area with 2 double headed buffers. A 5" with a wire wheel on one side and possibly a soft buffer wheel on the other. On my send double headed buffer I will be running two 8" buffing wheels with one firm and the second medium. What was your process and what additives did you use for buffing on the different buffing wheels? And do you have any advice before I get cracking. Cheers mate. - M
The brand of the hub is called onza - just turn the letters around ;) Anyways, keep the good work up, Ali! Love following you for quite a while now! Cheers
I do love a bit of bare metal on a bike!..it's the welds that do it for Me.. I get weak at the knees at some Phat bumpy lush welding for some reason!..Luv' it!❤
I grew up in the 1970s. BMX was a big deal. Chrome Mongoose frames were the astronomical price of $100-120. Just the frame. I was riding a $20 bike I bought turning in pop bottles for the deposit money. This reminded me of those bikes and was a great memory jog.
Hope the bike performs at the comp! Certainly looks cool! On another note I’d love to hear your opinion on hubs like Onyx with their spray clutch freehub design. Good enough engagement for Trials riding?
I have a very small GIANT Iguana with a DISC rear mount I think Is already shiny. I got it for the fork to fix my NORCO Indie.. but now want to build a fork like you did for it.. the crown epoxy seat tube thing.. looking for the donor bike fork daily.
The polished everything made me think of my old Pacific Stun BMX, but MUCH better looking. Might try some adhesion promoter, and clear coat to make dealing with dirt/fingerprints easier. Could also be done to give some pop to a brushed finish. If it turns out to be too much silver, I think black grips and hardware might be just enough to break it up.
Mate your channel has came in leaps and bounds!, you need more recognition! Even as a UA-camr your videos are well thought out and productive. Not alot of channels keep my attention for so long but your on point. Well done
Hope we get to see a bit of riding at the comp! Love the build
Azuo hub 🤣 Only us older people that were riding nice bikes in the 90s remember Onza.
I love the humor. I think I caught all the jokes. Another great video. Thanks 👍
Those urethane pedals they made were notorious for destroying people's knees on cold days.
Ok I just finished watching the video: it came out looking amazingly silver, you did a stunning job with this build. 🎉
Honestly, your sandpapering skills are so much better than what an angle grinder does!
Also, a thumbnail should have been the moment from 9:14
Love watching these videos! I haven't rode trials in years, but this brought back memories.
OOOOOOOH SHINY ✨
Hi Ali, I just want to make a couple points about your method:

You can use hairspray for slide on grips ali, acts as a lubricant at first but then as an adhesive. Grips are literally stuck to the bars!
18:56 I think it keeps the axle on that side from sliding out from harder sideways impacts, but also reinforces the hanger so it doesn't break that easy. You’re 100% correct, it’s a hanger reinforcement 👍🏻

I think it looks raw and simple. No messy paintjob or livery ruining it. There’s beauty in all that. I quite like it!
Nice I see this frame on eBay was thinking about buying it lol now get to see it finished with out spending money 😂
“Looks good like this but I don't think it was stressful enough” sounds like me in every good relationship. (And yes, I'm single).
My two favourite video formats in a row, a build then a comp! Can’t wait!
we love watching you polish your tube(s)
😏
hey was it one of your build vids where that chrome paint finish came up? my old man wants to do some restoration and there's not enough metal to clean it up totally, and i'm sure i heard about chrome paint on primer with a clearcoat
"azuo". You are a very, very, bad man.
Excellent build. I especially like the drillium.
More sweep than a janitor visiting a broom conference…that one had me rolling haha. Love your sense of humor
This is by far my favourite build you have done
Looks amazing
would love to call this bike mine, the effort you put into your videos is unmatched and i love to see your amount of care in your work.
That turned out incredible! As a fan of natural metal colours on almost all my builds the bare aluminium is pretty tasty, bit different for me as a BMXer most of my parts are Chromoly/Super-Therm.

Another xxx down and dirty bike build with Ali the adult references in this one were absolutely sensational and Alis polishing in his younger days paid off the bike is looking mint lol
I really like it! I grew up with these kind of frame designs and mini seats
Hey Ali Clarkson! Thanks for that alluminating video! Ride ride ride!
I love polished bikes! I sometimes used colored ano rims and small parts. I also have done a totally polished bike - my favorite.
That looks absolutely sick Ali! Love it.proper old school look to it has brought back some awesome memories!
EPIC build session!
I laughed when you cut the disc tap off, cause I would be doing that as well lol
LYE with no gloves, you must really like the movie FIGHT CLUB.
All opinions aside, it's just very cool that you try new stuff no one else would try just for the fun of it.
Keep 'em coming!

Another sick build. Double exited for Sunday now 👌👊👊🙏
18:57 I think it is a tiny metal plate with two holes and it does sit in your hand!
I do like the matt silver better, but this one does look super good with the water drops on it!
It probably glistens under rain
Sweet bike Ali, love that old school frame!
😎Hey Ali. Thanks for another great bike build video, great effort. Silver looks awesome. Good luck at Shipley, I wish I could go, its the dream.
I want one but I am 54 and never messed with trials. Hospital visits are expensive. Ty for the vid!
As someone who's also rawed their bike frame, crikey you're crazy! Nice build!
I chuckled every time you set up a movie magic instant gratification shot only to cut to the tedium.
Best way to end the day! Thanks ali! Love your content as always! Much love from the philippines 🔥
I really enjoy the style of your videos as well as the results. Super stuff.
this is amzing! such dedication! love your videos

Great Job! Good luck at the comp 🤘🏾
Very nice build.
23:48 oh no, that rusty cable guide
Watched whole video, but skipped the part when you cut off that brake mount. That was too brutal for me xd.

Awesome never knew that I wanted to see a steam punk trials bike- good luck with the comp.
Awesome build. We will be seeing a garage extention video soon. Another every bike you own video some day?
I absolutely love it Ali, looks great, cracking video! 🤙🏻

I was skeptical…… but geeez that looks bloody mint. And your scripts are just getting unfairly good now!
I love those brake levers, good memories😍
Looks awesome all raw ali have you thought about clear coating it so it stays a bit cleaner and gives it some scratch protection
Nice, keep it up..can you make pedal up tutorial video pls , and make crewkez bike bulid pls thanks Ali clarkson
Silver acrylic paint for the rubber ;) dab it on while inflated, it coats very well.
Love when you have builds with a great DIY touch like this. What are your opinions on Oury grips? They come in clear too and I've always been a huge fan of them.
Nice job Ali, looks good. Top man.
Can you hear that sound?
It's the sound of some dude at Super Cycles Nottingham spinning at the pronunciation of that front hub 🤣
This bike is incredible beautiful! Its very impressive that you set it up with v-brakes. Whats your experience with V-Brakes - especially when it gets muddy and wet?
Can you do a tutorial how to setup V-brakes for trials riding?
Thank you so much!
Great work & video. Thanks, Ali.
The amount of work in this is incredible.
Thanks for the vid👍 the bike looks amazing
Foil tape for the rim tape is a genius move!
Your addiction to shiny things is well known by now. Carry on.
wow really nice frame, you should check out the DJB frame Octane1 Zircus, £114.00 currently, really similar curved seat tube and cheap as chips. Ive been riding them as a STB for some years.
Can't believe you worked a Mr. Susan reference in there! Perfect
pretty good... i can't wait to see test ride video.
Great build Ali. I love the raw metal look. I think I would have used braided metal brake housings but the Alligator links look mint. I am curious about your polishing experience. Great work love you putting to work what we did year s ago don't see it much now
Autosol is good stuff. Had some jewelry polishing paste from them, worked like a dream.
If stormtroopers had trials bikes, this would be it!
Inspired to start stripping down some old frames I got kicking about....
I love it. You should clear coat it to keep the polish.
Beautiful build Ali 👍👍
it looks awesome ! great work ! it is worth all the sweat !
Wow really awesome build. Looks perfect without paint and save some weight too I guess 😁
i think you shouldve gotten some black Giant decals printed and put them on the frame, otherwise it looks sick
Beautiful build
sick build bro. i love a silver bike. great video.
Dam man. I’ve got 2 of these in the garage and your really selling the polished look on them. Oddly I reminds me fully of the crescent Ilions
Looks fantastic!
awesome! whats the best way to strip a raceface chainrings paint?
The brand of the hub is called onza - just turn the letters around ;)
Anyways, keep the good work up, Ali! Love following you for quite a while now! Cheers
Going to have to re watch the Mighty Boosh now... Magic bike to go with the reference
It just looks so great!😎👍🏻
I do love a bit of bare metal on a bike!..it's the welds that do it for Me.. I get weak at the knees at some Phat bumpy lush welding for some reason!..Luv' it!❤

I know this an old vid, but sheathing those cable outers in clear heat shrink would probably work very well to mitigate the downsides to them...
Hope the bike performs at the comp! Certainly looks cool! On another note I’d love to hear your opinion on hubs like Onyx with their spray clutch freehub design. Good enough engagement for Trials riding?
Awesome!
I would probably put standart black cables, this silver are too much for me)
I have a very small GIANT Iguana with a DISC rear mount I think Is already shiny. I got it for the fork to fix my NORCO Indie.. but now want to build a fork like you did for it.. the crown epoxy seat tube thing.. looking for the donor bike fork daily.
gotta love alis bike build
I thought I hated chrome but this just made me fall involve!!! insane build!
Shimano also make dxr levers in polished alloy. Left and right available.
looks like the old brisa b26. i owned one. notorious for getting cracks and mine didnt disappoint 😂
Got to love those azuo hubs! 😀
U cut off the disc tab but not the rear deraileur cable route :d Nice vid man!
Awesome Ali. 2x👍👍 from me mate. Top notch.
