      Doubt you get 1ms with HDR on. 99% of monitors turn all that off when HDR is on.

    • @MagiofAsura
      @MagiofAsura 3 роки тому +48

      It accepts an HDR signal but it's implementation is total garbage. No local dimming, it tops out at 350 nits when at the very least need to be at 600 nits to be decent and it doesn't have a wide color gamut. It essentially has none of the three pillars of HDR. This monitor isn't even at DisplayHDR 400 which is infamous for being garbage.
      For all intents and purposes, it doesn't actually display HDR content.

    Owning one of these myself and having played with it for about a month, your review is right on the money. It's a lot of performance for the price, and while it's not the best, it's also priced quite a bit lower than the best. I picked up one of these on Prime Day in 32" for only $296, and for that I feel like it was an absolute steal for all it offers.
    I feel like the people that would really feel this monitor's limitations the most are also people that are hardcore enough to justify spending more on a monitor anyway. Anyone with reasonable expectations in the $300-400 price range could hardly do better than this.

      do you feel like that 1440p its too low for 32"?

    • @AdarisTempest
      @AdarisTempest 4 роки тому +25

      @@valent0ne It's the exact same pixel density of 91.79 ppi that a 24 inch 1080p monitor is, and 1080p is generally considered adequate at that size. I certainly don't feel like it's deficient in that regard...and neither does Samsung, considering their flagship 32" gaming monitor is also 1440p.

      I've been happy with mine, it isn't perfect but it's a good screen. I've noticed on mine the backlighting has some issues where some areas are brighter in others, but I think that's due to the curve. Other than that I have nothing to complain about, I've used it for 10-12 hours a day as my main monitor for work for the past 6 months and it is holding up well.

    Btw to anyone wondering. This monitor works on the Xbox series X, at 1440p at 120hz. I have it and can confirm it. The new Xbox doesn’t let some 1440p 144hz monitors get to full performance (1440p 120hz). This is Microsoft’s fault, but this monitor doesn’t have that issue!

    I've had this monitor for three months now and it has been amazing so far! Playing scenic games like Horizon or Read Dead or Subnautica has never looked so good. Unfortunately I can't really make full use of the 1440p res and 144hz refresh rate due to my gpu (I'm using an RTX 2060 so running smoothly on that res can only be done on less demanding games like Valorant or Overwatch etc. so for the newer games I have to bump it down to 1080p). Oh, and since this is 32" wide, it's an absolute knocker for movies too. And after watching this video, I got an ever better satisfaction now that I know I've bought the right product. Thanks so much 1 Up!

    • @FlickFlag
      @FlickFlag 3 роки тому +9

      @Aleis in Wndrien
      You should've gone with the 27" version for 1440p, as the 32" version will have lower pixel density at 1440p thus making the image look blurrier. Every resolution has a sweet-spot in size (typically 1080p - 24", 1440p - 27", and 4k - 32" and up, respectfully).

    I bought this monitor a couple months ago because the price was right for a 1440p 144hz monitor and I’ve heard good things about Samsung monitors. I was hesitant on getting a curved monitor but now I don’t think I could ever go back to a flat display. I love this monitor and I personally haven’t noticed any ghosting. The only problem I have is trying to use HDR.. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but every time I turn it on it washes out my screen. But HDR wasn’t why I bought this so it’s not a big deal. But this was a great and spot on review and made me subscribe to your channel.

    One thing I'd add is that since this review was made, you actually CAN play 1440p on PS5 now it's this monitor if you have the most recent firmware update.. it will downscale the 4K signal to 1440p.. the only catch is that it also downscales FPS to 60hz with the PS5 so it's not ideal. I play PUBG and it was very noticeable, also I had to disable Freesync. My only concern for 27 ”is the scaling problem of Windows, so if I use it at 150% because the texts are too small, will my image look worse than the 4K 32 inch model? Or will it have a disadvantage? Or as an IPS panel or VA panel, which is the better choice for a quality display? Otherwise, should I pay 100 Euros more and go for the 32 ”model?

    I just ordered this monitor at 230€ without second thought. I'll keep it at 120FPS or I might even create a profile at 90FPS because I play all my games with VSync enabled.
    By the way, 1440p is for 27 inches top. Bigger monitors provide less PPI which sucks, blurry font rendering. The pure perfection is 27 inches at 2160p resolution, but you need an extreme GPU. It almost touches modern mobile phones clarity and the ~150 ppi is more than great in comparison to 90-110 we usually get at this price point.

    I have had one of these for a few years now (32 inch), and while in general I'm pretty happy with it, I've recently had an issue where the LED layer is delaminating and seperating from the backlight, due to the curve. The front and back layers are only glued together, and over time (probably due to overheating) they've separated. Right now it's not a huge deal, I don't think it'll fall off any time soon, but because of the curve there's a thin white line at the top of the screen where the backlight bleeds through, and it's kind of distracting.

I'm on the fence because i have a RX 6600 (non XT model) and it does great in 1080p but idk if it will be enough for 1440p. I think i'm gonna go with the G5 but would love to know your opinion! Have you noticed artifacting/color banding in the dark areas of games/videos/pictures on the G5? I just got it a few days ago and have been noticing a lot more artifacting on videos I've edited on my previous monitor, along with on my wallpapers and in the dark areas of games. and comparing videos and pictures on the G5 to my old TN panel monitor, the artifacting isn't even noticeable on the old one. IDK what changed but when I use to play games and turn HDR on.. the Resident Evil 2 remake for instance.. it would wash out my image no matter what settings I messed with... even turning HDR on in my Windows settings would wash out my screen.. now I have Windows 11 and an RX 6800 (the only two changes I've made since last trying HDR) and my HDR experience is way better ...enough so that I just keep HDR on now. I wish I had an explanation for this but now it just works... it's not as good as my LG 4K TV HDR but its good enough (and way better then before) that I actually use it now in games.
