In comparison to sonic's enemies that example really isn't much. I'm going to use a 23 year old enemy at a big l o w b a l l. Perfect chaos is taller than a 7 story building and 7 story buildings are about 80-120 feet tall. He's at least faster than light because sonic has lightspeed shoes (not counting super sonic) and he's at least planetary due to the chaos emeralds existing being able to split up the earth and him being able to fight super sonic would make him at least near that level. In sonic generations the same perfect chaos gets MANHANDLED by base sonic. Mind you sonic is 3'3 and he just did that in his base form.

@@DreaguiVIII dunno if this really changes your mind, but Mario has shown to be able to time travel through his own means (Mario’s Time Machine, the Pipe Man in Yoshi’s island), and was born with his power whilst under Yoshi’s protection. And would Sonic know where Mario as a baby is? He ain’t omniscient, so I’m not sure where he would know to go. And even then he uses Time Warp Plates in most if not all instances he does time travel with his speed.
Well, I always figured they were different versions. Not only does Paper Jam show that they're different, but even games before it imply that they're different. If 3d Mario was the same as PM, he wouldn't be able to fold up his body like in TTYD and entering the 3rd dimension in Super Paper Mario wouldn't have been a big deal. Besides, he still probably scales physically, and he doesn't need PM feats to win, unlike Sonic needing Archie or Fleetway feats to win.

A lot of Sonic fans seem to forget that Mario is canonically a demi-god (He's one of the 7 Star Children, meaning that he was basically born gifted). Also, when Mario is facing Gods/God-like opponents, he's in his base form for all of them, and is usually on his own.

1 thing I think is kind of important to bring up that I never see anyone talk about in these videos is that Mario did have the luma with him and was getting power from it the whole time he was in Galaxy and Galaxy 2. I'm not saying that it was making a HUGE difference to his abilities or power in general, but I do think that it could have been helping Mario to do feats such as launching the planetoids with ground pounds and such or protecting him from the giant black hole at the end of the game via just some kind of manipulation over celestial bodies since that's what lumas become. Not trying to take away from the power scaling or anything, but I thought it could be an interesting topic to bring up the fact that he did have a celestial creature able to transform into an entire galaxy with him during that adventure. How much it helped him though is up for debate.
Fair point and it's definitely something I considered. In the official guide, it's stated the Luma's main ability is helping Mario survive the harsh conditions of deep space, and his spin attack. In the game, whenever the Luma's powers are activated, like the chain stomp and the spin attack, the Luma leaves Mario's cap to recharge. Anything else, like his regular ground pound, and strength feats stay consistent with things he's pulled off without Luma. From lifting/destroying castles and boulders without breaking a sweat, to consistently being in the center of devastating attacks without being remotely harmed, it's easier to assume that those are his feats separate from Luma's influence.

In terms of speed, Mario is able to move when time is stopped in Super Mario 64. Moving through space in the absence of time means that his speed is immeasurable.

Honestly tyrecordslol is so biased towards Sonic it’s not even funny. His idea is that every Mario that you play as in each of his games is an entirely different Mario just doesn’t make sense when you consider the amount of callbacks to past games like in Super Mario Sunshine where FLUDD scans Mario and it shows scenes from his previous games. Same with Odyssey when you first capture Bowser and you go through his memories. Not to mention his idea would actually make Mario a lot weaker than he really is.

Culex from RPG legit has the same statements as solaris except mario can actually kill him alone without the need of is allies since you can fight him solo. Exists in all past and present timelines, consumes time and space like lunch, and still got annihilated. Btw, the black hole sonic was running from is artificial. Sonic didn't even end up escaping it and got caught in the blast
As someone who likes both series equally and knows what both are capable of, they have both been extremely downplayed in their full potential here, especially sonic
As someone who also loves both series equally and owns almost every main entry in each respective franchise, for the most part it was paramount that I left out super intricate details to make a broader point. Even if I added in something like Mario's alleged super nova feat, or scaled Sonic to the power of someone like Solaris, a lot of those points would either be reaching, or doesn't change the main point of the video. The Blackhole deaths in Mario Galaxy were Gaming mechanics. If we’re gonna include Hyper Sonic, we gotta include Pure Hearts. Before Sonic fans mention Time Travel, Mario can do the Same thing, if not that than he scales above Bowser who can Time Travel, meaning Mario can react to that Easily, that alone means Mario can keep up with Sonic lmao.
To add on, Sonic only ever time travels using Chaos emeralds (which he has help with from Silver) and using signs in Sonic CD, and not with his speed. (Otherwise every game would have a gaping plot hole)

Sonic's friends were trapped in limbo. Once freed by Sonic restoring events undone by Time Eater, they're unfrozen and able to move again. Generations isn't about Sonic outrunning time. It's about Sonic redoing events that were undone by Time Eater, a Time god in its infancy, hence why Eggman was able to harness its power.
Honestly, I've always been more of a Mario fan and in every battle or sprite animation I've seen it's usually always Sonic who wins, and if Mario DOES win I feel like it's done a little cheaply or the animation isn't that good and finding ones where Mario does win with good animation and not even adding fanon stuff like Super Cape is little to none and surprising when you can actually find them. As of now the only ones I can recall is the 2nd Mario vs Sonic Death battle, the One Minute Melee Mario vs Sonic, Mario vs Sonic made by zzstar, and if you want to be technical(even if this has fanon stuff) Spacepea's Mario I believe had/has the potential to beat that Sonic as well. Either way I don't get why the Sonic Fans are complaining, they have MANY animations and stuff where their boy wins just let us Mario Fans have ours.

In comparison to sonic's enemies that example really isn't much. I'm going to use a 23 year old enemy at a big l o w b a l l. Perfect chaos is taller than a 7 story building and 7 story buildings are about 80-120 feet tall. He's at least faster than light because sonic has lightspeed shoes (not counting super sonic) and he's at least planetary due to the chaos emeralds existing being able to split up the earth and him being able to fight super sonic would make him at least near that level. In sonic generations the same perfect chaos gets MANHANDLED by base sonic. Mind you sonic is 3'3 and he just did that in his base form.

And even then he uses Time Warp Plates in most if not all instances he does time travel with his speed.

Well, I always figured they were different versions. Not only does Paper Jam show that they're different, but even games before it imply that they're different. If 3d Mario was the same as PM, he wouldn't be able to fold up his body like in TTYD and entering the 3rd dimension in Super Paper Mario wouldn't have been a big deal. Besides, he still probably scales physically, and he doesn't need PM feats to win, unlike Sonic needing Archie or Fleetway feats to win.

1 thing I think is kind of important to bring up that I never see anyone talk about in these videos is that Mario did have the luma with him and was getting power from it the whole time he was in Galaxy and Galaxy 2. I'm not saying that it was making a HUGE difference to his abilities or power in general, but I do think that it could have been helping Mario to do feats such as launching the planetoids with ground pounds and such or protecting him from the giant black hole at the end of the game via just some kind of manipulation over celestial bodies since that's what lumas become. Not trying to take away from the power scaling or anything, but I thought it could be an interesting topic to bring up the fact that he did have a celestial creature able to transform into an entire galaxy with him during that adventure. How much it helped him though is up for debate.
Fair point and it's definitely something I considered. In the official guide, it's stated the Luma's main ability is helping Mario survive the harsh conditions of deep space, and his spin attack. In the game, whenever the Luma's powers are activated, like the chain stomp and the spin attack, the Luma leaves Mario's cap to recharge. Anything else, like his regular ground pound, and strength feats stay consistent with things he's pulled off without Luma. From lifting/destroying castles and boulders without breaking a sweat, to consistently being in the center of devastating attacks without being remotely harmed, it's easier to assume that those are his feats separate from Luma's influence.

Honestly tyrecordslol is so biased towards Sonic it’s not even funny. His idea is that every Mario that you play as in each of his games is an entirely different Mario just doesn’t make sense when you consider the amount of callbacks to past games like in Super Mario Sunshine where FLUDD scans Mario and it shows scenes from his previous games. Same with Odyssey when you first capture Bowser and you go through his memories. Not to mention his idea would actually make Mario a lot weaker than he really is.

As someone who likes both series equally and knows what both are capable of, they have both been extremely downplayed in their full potential here, especially sonic
As someone who also loves both series equally and owns almost every main entry in each respective franchise, for the most part it was paramount that I left out super intricate details to make a broader point. Even if I added in something like Mario's alleged super nova feat, or scaled Sonic to the power of someone like Solaris, a lot of those points would either be reaching, or doesn't change the main point of the video. The point wasn't to downplay either, or go over every last feat, but to say what I think of the matchup overall.

The Blackhole deaths in Mario Galaxy were Gaming mechanics. If we’re gonna include Hyper Sonic, we gotta include Pure Hearts. Before Sonic fans mention Time Travel, Mario can do the Same thing, if not that than he scales above Bowser who can Time Travel, meaning Mario can react to that Easily, that alone means Mario can keep up with Sonic lmao.
To add on, Sonic only ever time travels using Chaos emeralds (which he has help with from Silver) and using signs in Sonic CD, and not with his speed. (Otherwise every game would have a gaping plot hole)

Sonic's friends were trapped in limbo. Once freed by Sonic restoring events undone by Time Eater, they're unfrozen and able to move again. Generations isn't about Sonic outrunning time. It's about Sonic redoing events that were undone by Time Eater, a Time god in its infancy, hence why Eggman was able to harness its power.
Honestly, I've always been more of a Mario fan and in every battle or sprite animation I've seen it's usually always Sonic who wins, and if Mario DOES win I feel like it's done a little cheaply or the animation isn't that good and finding ones where Mario does win with good animation and not even adding fanon stuff like Super Cape is little to none and surprising when you can actually find them.
As of now the only ones I can recall is the 2nd Mario vs Sonic Death battle, the One Minute Melee Mario vs Sonic, Mario vs Sonic made by zzstar, and if you want to be technical(even if this has fanon stuff) Spacepea's Mario I believe had/has the potential to beat that Sonic as well. Either way I don't get why the Sonic Fans are complaining, they have MANY animations and stuff where their boy wins just let us Mario Fans have ours.

Dude so I watched his video and I feel like he made a few good points, but yeah no a lot of the points are super reaching and goofy 😭 like Sonic apparently being able to run from dimension to dimension on his speed alone with no other aid, which is just blatantly false. Also Sega confirmed Zavok is stronger than Super Sonic and if you play Sonic lost world as Super Sonic Zavok is the only one that can’t take damage from touching Super Sonic.
