  • My Fender Champion 110 amp's input socket has been busted for some time.
I decided today was the day to see what gives.
Proprietary Fender part Japan Pat 976235
    US Pat 3536870.
I found UK eBay seller calls it Fender 4 pin 1/4 and in July 2023 this was about £10.
    on order
another fault with the amp. Input volume on clean channel goes from off at 0 to very very loud at 2.
    I just checked the resistance.
37k Ohm across edges. 0 to 31k Ohm as you sweep.
Alas the other pots are 50k and 100k.
    The sweep appear linear.
so unless it was expecting log then surely the loudness issue is somewhere else.
I await spare part so maybe by part 2 I will know the issue.

What would cause this exact same amp to not make a sound when the gain button is on, and when its off the clean sound can be heard

Hi @tony - I would suggest checking out this weblink - there they have similar issue. The LED switches but a broken JFET causes the switch to not work! In this case J111 - there is a schematic on the post.

      OBSERVATIONS
1 - I dont know much about this stuff so please dont consider me an expert - operate at your own risk and consult with real experts if you are unsure!
2 - if your clean channel is working but the gain isnt - that's still a decent amp! These things are plenty loud - the clean on this is close to my valve amp (Laney Cub 12R) so for sure worth keeping even if only the clean works
3 - you can emulate gain /distortion on your clean channel with a pedal and use that to "switch".
In other words - check out link above and if you are not confident to experiment at your own risk then try a simple pedal?
Please let me know how you get on - hoping for best outcome for you.
