Thank god for John Hughes. Sadly missed. He know how to make a movie and who to cast,
I watched the documentary first thing this morning. It was bittersweet to watch as the 80’s movies entertained me when the world wasn’t upside down. The “Brat Pack” reference was cool, it certainly didn’t prevent me from watching every movie the were in, both as a group and individually. I don’t believe the reference prevented them from working at all. They all went on to make movies afterward. Andrew did an incredible job with this documentary. As far as I can tell, Molly Ringwald & Judd Nelson are the only true brats for not participating in this documentary. No excuse, as in this day and age, if they weren’t physically able to visit with Andrew, they could have used Zoom, Facetime, or any video app to make it happen. Sidenote: Andrew is a freaking 🦊.
Where was Mare Winningham?! They completely left her out of the documentary! Even when Kevin McCarthy was listing out the members, he said 'who are we leaving out?'. Am i the only one that remembers Mare Winningham as being part of the Brat Pack?!
I was graduating high school during this time of the 80s. many people don't even realize that a decade earlier there was a glam rock group called
The Hollywood Brats.
I saw the "brat pack" as nothing more as a clever take on the "rat pack". The "In Crowd" of a specific Inner Circle people and their outer Fringe which mirrored the Rat Pack
Slightly derogatory because of their youth and inexperience but I didn't find it insulting or marginalizing the actors in any way. It was how to refer this idolized group of actors

Why doesn't anyone remember that the term "Brat Pack" was a take on the term "Rat Pack" (Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, etc.)??? Maybe if that was talked about more, these guys wouldn't have taken it so personally!!!!!!!!

It seems that David Bloom was and still is arrogant and doesn't own up that he ruined some careers. And he wanted to be more well known and was ignored. He clearly said no one paid attention to him even though he was sitting down with Emilio and others. He did it out of spite and he is still spiteful. He says it was actually positive, which he wished it wasn't. In the long run, it backfired on him.
