    Just saw the documentary. Outstanding. Highly recommend. Very thought provoking. I appreciate Andrew opening up about how he felt about the brat pack label. These two words thrown out there by someone who never even met him had tremendous impact on his life. His interview with the journalist was riveting. And rather disturbing the man would not admit what havoc his words played on this group of people's lives. What Demi Moore said in the end was right - that guy's comments were more about him than they were about this group of actors.

      @SY-ok2dq Місяць тому

      She was only in the one film with them, and wasn't a star at the time either. She never hung out with them - shr was already a mother, so partying with coke-snorting Demi and her then-fiance Emilio and his friends Rob and Judd was not on her agenda. She was actually pregnant during the filming of Elmo's and that's her pregnancy weight there. She actually maintained pretty good career for an actress who gave birth like 5 times! It definitely interrupts actresses careers to be pregnant and then to take time off to be a full-time mother to a newborn baby.

    • @SY-ok2dq
      @SY-ok2dq Місяць тому

      Demi wasn't in fact a very prominent member of the pack back then because she wasn't as well known. She did make a film with Emilio (don't remember the name and nobody else can either), and a much better known film with Rob Lowe, that came along later in the 80s (About Last Night).
      But back then, in the press and so on, it was much more about Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy as the females, and McCarthy, Lowe, Anthony Michael Hall, and Judd Nelson.

I remember around that time one of the actresses , Ally Sheedy I think, asked or at least to paraphrase “What did we do to deserve to be called ‘brats’”? Why doesn't anyone remember that the term "Brat Pack" was a take on the term "Rat Pack" (Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, etc.)??? Maybe if that was talked about more, these guys wouldn't have taken it so personally!!!!!!!!

      Everyone knows that term was modified from the rat pack. The offense was the substance of the scathing article, not the term itself.

    Great trailer, great music (especially Lou Reed) okay documentary. I found it a bit too slow and repetitive. That said, Timothy Hutton was great and Rob Lowe probably had the best outlook on the whole experience.

    Loved the Brat Pack and sad that they took it so hard. But when you're young in your twenties who knew back then how to navigate something like that? Nice to see that most of them are not plastic-y and look like healthy representations of what it means to age.

    I think some of them simply had a problem with the word “brat,” which is kinda bratty…had they been dubbed: the breakfast club, how different would their careers have been? They hit in their twenties with the expectation it would continue on. Ask Shatner about embracing being typecast as Kirk.
