One of the things i love about landscape is that you can shoot the same thing over and over and get a different look, and you can wotk a scene to death and find what "works".
Gary, I live about an hour away and in all the time I have been doing landscape photography, I have been there once. I cannot get that over the 'not that bloody lighthouse again' voice in my head. Your long exposures have got me thinking I should go down to the sea again... I think I was up your way when you were down here. Loved my day at Bempton cliffs, not for the landscape but great fun with the gannets, beautiful birds. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful images Gary and excellent video as always. It’s a special place, specially at sunrise / sunset, that I must return to. Prefer the light brown monachrome images personally which have a sepia feel to them. Thanks for sharing @raysimpsonphoto
Lovely video Gary, the red stripe on the structure really does create additional contrst on the white boards. Would love to see a long exposure of the lighthouse taken from the ocean (during low tide) facing into the shore with the red stripe - maybe with some cloud movement?
All superb Gary but the B&W with the driftwood @ 14:55 was my favourite 👌 can’t wait to give this a go in Orkney in August, just need to find a nice subject or two, have a couple of places in mind 😉🤞👌
Love all the images Gary but for me the first couple are the best. Although the images are minimalist, they really seem to capture a mood....really is therapy for the eyes!
Hi Gary, I live locally and can suggest a visit to the other end of the esplanade near the yacht club, where the river Brue exits into the river parrett. Time your visit for low water and you'll catch the yachts sitting on the mud with the sun reflecting off the undulating mud banks. Often overlooked. Great vid thanks. Pete
Hi Gary! Been to this location on two occasions. The first to catch the sunset with incoming tide. Got the shot but the tide was a high tide which came in at a rate of knots and cut us off. Had to yomp over the dunes to escape and walk miles back to the car. Still had the shot so alls well etc. Only problem had the wife was with me ,not so one unhappy bunny!
Great vid Gary and really must head west sometime this year to shoot the lighthouse. For me the slightly side on an best as I think it looks a bit more 3D than the side on but like you said, shoot them all and choose after.
It is truly inspiring to see what can be done, with a modestly-sized lighthouse, in a place with so few terrain features, by calculating tide and sunset times, and working the angles of light. I had considered our Texas Coastal Prairie environment, with the Gulf of Mexico nearby, to be relatively featurelsss and uninteresting, but with high fuel prices limiting travel, it is good to be that one does not need dramatic terrain features to create an interesting image.
In that last bsentence, I meant that it is “good to see” that one does not need dramatic terrain features to create an interesting image. (It seems that editing is not possible, when using an iPad.)
I learned more about composition in these fifteen minutes then I have in some day-long workshops. Don't know what that says about me, but it surely means you're a hell of a teacher. Thanks very much from a new subscriber & member.
Hi Gary, great shots! But the real story for me is your preliminary scouting and planning of the area(s) that you are shooting. This is no point and shoot effort. You’ve gotten me to slow down and really analyze and think about what I’m shooting. It even works in part for my street photography as well as landscape work, oddly enough. It’s always great to absorb your photography enthusiasm as well!
Hi Gary. Been there a couple of times on the way back from Cornwall, but like your first visit, the tide height was not in my favour on either occasion. However, I did work the scene like you with the legs. Difficult one, but on balance, I prefer the images with more than 3 legs in it.
Great Video as always Gary, I learn so much whenever I watch your blogs. Your enthusiasm in what you do is infectious. You make learning about photography so much fun. Need to grab my camera - "Motivated" yet again. Thanks Gary.
I love the addition of the driftwood.. not many would have thought of including it… a guess that’s what you meant by shooting a scene… thanks for the content Gary
Prefer the shots without the driftwood for sure. Having said that, i've gone completely the opposite direction these days, and now like to show movement in the water.
Great video as always Gary, you were one of the first photographers I started to watch on youtube and you continue to be an Inspiration, thanks as always, not sure which image I prefer they are all brilliant.
What a top spot! Gee, hard to pick my fav image, I'm a sucker for gold so I'd say the ones from the side view for me, that goldish glow is hard to beat. I do like your last image too as I like minimalistic stuff as well. I also like the fact when you show the back of your camera it is oh so familiar.
Your in depth explanation of the process and how enthusiastic you are, really makes this video amazing to watch. No wonder the photos turned beautiful.
Well done again Gary 👏. Another excellent video which if I may say, you make look too easy. Also, it’s great to see you venturing south to locations I can try to replicate what you achieve, well not quite as well, but I can try. Well done again 😊
Cheers Chris👍👍 Incredibly, the Burnham-on-Sea Lighthouse oversees the second-highest tidal range in the world. The range is a massive 11m (36 ft). It's second only to the Bay of Fundy in Eastern Canada. Google it :)
Always look forward to your videos Gary, I’m sure the rush comes from the excitement you can see of your final image and the stars have lined up for you. It’s a beautiful feeling to get. 👏👏
Thanks Gary for yet another brilliant video. You present so much valuable information but at a pace that is easily digested. Other UA-camrs should follow your lead. I lived in Burnham for a number of years and was blown away by the long beach and surrounding areas, so much to photograph, yet when I lived there I hadn't discovered the joys of photography. I think a visit plus camera is on the cards. Thanks again.
Please bring back Photo Nerds, it was the only photography chat worth listening to
It's not me you've got to convince. Cheers btw
Best photography channel out there by far.
Very kind, thank you

The photos are good medicine and so is Gary’s upbeat personality.
I have leukemia and don’t do photography that much anymore. But ur videos, scenery and music is relaxing when my body is hurting.
Oh no that's so sad. I'm glad I'm helping a little. Take care xx
Like cheeky grin when you knew you cracked it. Well done good set of photos.
Thanks 👍
Again, wonderful photography! Love those location very much.
Many thanks!
I could watch you all night Gary. Fabulous work 😊
I'm blushing now 😊😊
🤣

Cheers Bryan 👍👍
Wonderful, Gary! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Darren 👍👍
I like the way the sea and sky blend into one.Well done you.

Lovely stuff again Gary. Very inspiring, cheers.
Many thanks 👍👍
Nailed it once again Gary. Fantastic work mate 👍👍
Cheers Paul 👍👍
You looked well pleased Gary and with good reason. Beautiful images.
Great vlog again Gary.. The portrait with the left side driftwood for me.. Awesome shots 👌👌
Thanks 👍
Really appreciated the effort you put into working different compositions.
How you make a featureless beach on a grey day look like the best thing in the world. Hats off, you are a true master and inspiration!
Thank you Kai 👍👍
Beautiful work Gary….always a pleasure checking in with your videos….
I forgot to mention. The pictures are so so beautiful.
Loved the video and plus I used to live there so it made it more special
that one at 15:45 is my favorite. Such beautiful subtle work.
Nice images, Gary. Great technique.
Thank you! Cheers!
Sublime as ever. Proper teacher and proper inspirational.
Simplifying the background by removing Hinkley Point Power Station in some of the final images is often a winner here.
Cheers Mark 👍👍
Fabulous end result s as usual Gary 👌🏾
Many thanks. Cheers Steve 👍👍
Great video Gary. Hope to see that one day. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week. 👍😊🙏
Thanks Gary - your images are beautiful and I love your excitement!!! Keep up the great work & videos.
Love fine art . Thanks for your ideas and enthusiasm
Another great dose of inspiration, thanks . look forward to the next one. Cheers.

Wonderful images, stunning. As other people have stated a return of the nerds would be awesome. Thanks for sharing
Am now convinced Gary carries his own Driftwood around in his camera bag 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Thank you for another inspirational video Gary, fantastic.
The usual dose of Gary's infectious enthusiasm and great images, Wonderful, well done!
Cheers Phil 👍👍

A fabulous watch as always. Stunning shots as usual.
I love your photography style and your videos 😃.
Gary, you are the master of long exposures
Spot on Gary - You nailed it !
Love the location, love the shots and just love the banter. Spot on again Gary. Thank you. (Give a man a big stick and he will play all day) 😁
Excellent work Gary. Very enjoyable
Well done Gary. Very well done.
Fantastic pic wow 1st class cant get any better Gary
Nice one Gary… another lovely video 👍🏻

Thank you for showing the different angles of the lighthouse and talking us through what you liked and didn't like about each composition!
Really enjoyed this video Gary. If I had to choose a fav shot it would be the driftwood one.
Great video Gary , lovely images
I arrived late to the party but I’m a Burnham resident who takes pics of The Low Lighthouse time and again!
I like the 3 groups of 3 leg angle.
Thanks Francis 👍👍
High quality video and great images! I am inspired to make that kind of images myself.
Go for it! 👍👍
Unbelievably beautiful!
Many thanks!

Caught some great light there Gary 👍 Tis a tweaking location for sure ,left right left again...as you say ,if in doubt shoot them all 😁
Thanks Lynne xx

I used to live in Burnham On Sea thank you for this video
Prefer the shots without the driftwood for sure. Having said that, i've gone completely the opposite direction these days, and now like to show movement in the water.
I would love an exploration into how to do fine art in woodland or other landscapes where there is not a lot of access to water, etc.
Different ball game entirely!
You sir are one of gems on this platform called UA-cam who are such a dedicated and wonderful teacher.
Very nice, glad you managed to get the driftwood to stay still long enough.
The final image 👌

The final images were highly appealing. Thank you for showing how you worked the scene to get them. You certainly earned the results!
Cheers Edward 👍👍
Fantastic do like the way lay all out thank you
Nice Gary could really feel your enthusiasm for the shoot in that one. Actually been there myself so was great to see your take on it...👍
Thank you for this inspiring video. Greetings from Berlin
Well done again Gary 👏. Another excellent video which if I may say, you make look too easy.
Also, it’s great to see you venturing south to locations I can try to replicate what you achieve, well not quite as well, but I can try.

Also, from my experience of the Severn estuary, it comes in pretty quick, which may explain having too suddenly rush.
