    Excellent presentation Eddie and of coarse thanks for tying up all the loose ends on the great Zildjian story. Now if you will, go through the different stamps and dates on which they changed starting with the Ks. Cheers bro. Bruce

    Wonderful video. When you use abstract words describing sound - artisan, ancient, modern vs vintage bright and dark - how about some interjected sound clips of each? I know what I THINK they sound like, but I'm not really sure.

    Now I know why my 1966 "A" Zildjian (pre model series) 19" Zildjian Avedis ride cymbal has no hammer makes! It was "pinched". It does not look like, nor sound like any of the cymbals made since serial numbers were added to the logo. I also have matched 14" hi hats from the same year which are unique. The top cymbal is thinner, but heavier, than the bottom cymbal and the sound of each one is completely different. I've never seen this before from matched cymbals.

    • @olemofjell

      What you have is a "New Beat" Hi-hat, medium light top and heavier bottom

    What I want to know is (apart from B8 student models, of course), who kept the original Turkish metal formula, who changed it? Was it always the same as the old Istanbul K's?
    And while we're at it, I know that Paiste uses a different formula, but what about Istanbul and Meinl?

    • @itsfaiz2967
      @itsfaiz2967 5 місяців тому

      Istanbul definitely has all the secrets. It's all the same from ancient times. Also if you like Meinl check out Murat Diril. The mastermind behind the formula. He started his own company

    Why does it have to come from Turkey especially when the whole art wasn’t even created by Turks, but by an Armenian family? The whole “Turkish Cymbal” thing is a misnomer. Cymbal and bell making goes back to the 2nd millennia B.C. to the Karmir Blur area, in Yerevan, Armenia. Bronze and metal work are intrinsically connected to Armenian history. The Armenian plateau, rich in ores, was one of the first places to practice metallurgy and was ahead of neighboring regions in the use of bronze, copper, and iron. Throughout history Armenians have been master metalworkers and jewelers. A Fresno State University excavation/study found cymbals at Lake Sevan from around that time.

      It´s because cymbals are still made in Turkey. Istambul Mehmet, Istambul Agop, Soultone, Turkish, Bosphorus, etc... There are not brands of cymbals or cymbal factories in Armenia. So your question "Why does it have to come from Turkey..." is because it is manufactured over there.

      @@robertocalderonabogado1427 All cymbal smiths that came out Zildjian factories. Sorry the art form isn’t Turkish. Plenty of similar cymbal smiths in Europe and the Far East that make cymbals on the same level as all those smaller manufacturers. By the way, Zildjians and Sabians (the OG family) are made in the US and Canada respectively. Not Turkey.

      @@caspianseal I know. Zildjian is made in USA and Sabian is made in Canada, but the other brands I mentioned in my las comment are made in Turkey. In Germany they make Meinl. Paiste is made in Swizerland, Ufip is made in Italy, Wuhan in China and in Brazil they make BFC and Orion. Any how, I know The Zildjian familly have Armenian roots, but there is no evidence of cymbal craftmanship in Armenia, unless you have some information to share, which would be interesting to know. Please share any link about it.

      Sabian was founded by a Robert Zildjian in ‘81 after having some trouble with his brother. He got the name SABIAN, from the first two letters of each of his children’s names. Sally, Billy, and Andy. On their social media, they sometimes refer to Zildjian as “an ex”.
