Steven Taylor's acting from his amazing save on the line was the funniest moment.. rolling around holding his chest, when he realises the ref wasn't fooled just gets straight up like 'it was worth a try' lmao
Was it handball ? I thought he'd been shot with a sniper rifle for a minute 😆 It made me PMSL the way he stood on his tiptoes and arched his back before collapsing on the floor, and then when he realised the ref was having none of it, got back up looking embarrassed just waiting for the red card hahaha 😆
Still one of the most frustrating games to watch live as a Newcastle fan, but hilarious in retrospect. Dyer wasn’t passing to Bowyer all game. Constantly. It was infuriating. The refereeing was shocking in general apart from the two main incidents. Still, Steve Taylor’s red card after being shot by that sniper was v.harsh.
Every team needs a player like Bowyer: full of energy and effort, getting in the face of the opposition. Both he and Dyer came to West Ham for some time later in their careers, and Bowyer was by far the more effective.
He joined Aston Villa aged 25 from Brighton, later on at age 25 he left to play for Man City. Then, at age 25 he transferred to Everton. He got his first full England cap at 25. He is now 25 years old and still playing for West Brom. Seriously though, I was at one of his first matches for Villa. He looked 25 even though he was 17, but he still looks 25 now. I think Graeme did well in getting them to make a statement immediately after the game which seems like a no-brainer but was a great piece of damage control that most other managers would not have had the foresight, sense or ability to get done
Souness made some bad signings ie Paul Stewart Nigel Clough but remember he took over a team of ageing players many of whom wanted to leave for one last contract Liverpool FC were in a big transition and he can't be blamed for that
I seem to remember that when Souness was the manager at Southampton, he sent on a substitute (in a Premier League match against Leeds) that wasn't actually a Southampton player, just some random bloke (Ali Dia) that happened to turn up after pretending to be George Weah's cousin and playing in the lower divisions of The French and German leagues! He was so bad that Souness had to take him off after 40 mnutes, and it transpired that he had failed a trial with Blyth Spartans. Pure Sunday morning pub league stuff!
i love the way they handle sports in the uk. that press conference was classy and i love how the lady just walked up and put the glass down and you can hear him say thank you, and i like how they immediately made em come out and apologize. but they didnt make such a big deal out of it, they just handled it like parents lol. classy

One of the best away days I've ever had! I remember just seeing a big scuffle and thinking "oh fuck, what has Lee Hendrie done now!?" Can't believe Souness trying to argue that the referee was partly to blame 🤣
I thought the worst decision was when the Newcastle player was taken out inside the box!! Clear penalty and a booking. The handballs were penalties as well YNWA
Man so much nostalgia. I know there was still a lot of money in football at the time but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as now and was so much better imo.
Any proper 4-4-2 team would be Lee Bowyer and Joey Barton in the midfield... Balotelli and Ibrahimovic as strikers, Jose Mourinho as coach and why not... Cantona and Maradona as wingers!
Nigel Martyn; Gary Kelly, Dominic Matteo, Jonathan Woodgate, Ian Harte; Alan Smith, Olivier Dacourt, Lee Bowyer, Danny Mills; Mark Viduka, Harry Kewell. That team were Champions League semi-finalists for a reason
KillingJoker but tht ref was a joke like the ref who was the ref in Leeds united game tonight gave a pen when it was miles outside the box when is the ref going be punished for it wht about all the high boots but only mane get sent off utd left back kick can in the head and he was given nothing
The first one possibly but would have been harsh, second one no chance , he just threw himself to the floor at the slightest touch and should have been booked for diving. Taylors dive after he handballed it is one of the funniest things ive ever seen but goes under the radar because of other events
Lee Bowyer got fined by Newcastle United £200K. He got arrested by the Northumbria Police for assault. He got fined by the Magistrate Court £5000 and £1000 cost.
Just watched it because of a reel....oh man...good old times!!! VAR would have a full day with this game. So many bad ref decisions. Outcome of this game would have been so different. Anyways, fun to watch it today though. Cheers, everyone!

I'm surprised Souness didn't run on the pitch and give both of them a good hiding. He must have turned soft in his old age.
If the ref gave Newcastle their 2 well deserved penalties, this whole situation could have been avoided! 👍🏽
hahahaha Steven Taylor was trying to pretend the ball hit his chest lmao hahahaha
13:54 Nowt a good cup of tea won't sort out.
i love the way they handle sports in the uk. that press conference was classy and i love how the lady just walked up and put the glass down and you can hear him say thank you, and i like how they immediately made em come out and apologize. but they didnt make such a big deal out of it, they just handled it like parents lol. classy
Think this game was the last time Villa won at SJP, bit of a hoodoo ground for us in recent times
Never could I have imagined two teammates fighting in the game. Practice, yes happens quite a bit but in the game!
9:50 Haha the dive there by Taylor was hilarious.
That press conference was definitely the manager dragging the two boys out there and going "you fucked up and you're going to apologize for it."
"More fight club than football club"
Typical lame Lineker comment.
Gary earning his money !
@@CB-xr1eg he was correct though.
That intro is so much better than today’s
From all those years ago I can still remember the best sports paper headline the very next day - "LOONEY TUNES"! LOL
It was "Looney Toon's" mate
YEAH - I KNOW. I BUGGERED IT UP. I usually do my posts late at night - when I'm half asleep. THX for pointing that out. I won't correct it, as I buggered the joke already! CHEERS! ; )
Nostalgic. Not everyday you see Gareth Barry busting a lung up to the box, cutting inside, and taking a shot.
Newcastle fans getting excited about 34 year old shearer staying for a year then Steven Taylor gets shot by a sniper then 2 bossy boots Capricorns start fighting ha ha
lol i actually looked up steven taylor getting shot by sniper... im slow..
This is award winning commentary Phil!
@@joshuabrown2134 You can actually see the moment the bullet hit him xD
One of the best away days I've ever had! I remember just seeing a big scuffle and thinking "oh fuck, what has Lee Hendrie done now!?" Can't believe Souness trying to argue that the referee was partly to blame 🤣
🤣🤣
He squeezed that in about the ref.
Brilliant
Christ, what awful reffing... just watching it now. Geordies, have every right to be upset.
Newcastle should have had 3 penalties while it was still 1-0 ref was terrible
I thought the worst decision was when the Newcastle player was taken out inside the box!! Clear penalty and a booking. The handballs were penalties as well YNWA
@@eamonstafford2056 YNWA, You'll never win a league hagahaha
@@mazzadude You must have sixth sense because there isn't much sign of the other 5!!!

Great video description :D
Wow, 2005, I remember this game
Man so much nostalgia. I know there was still a lot of money in football at the time but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as now and was so much better imo.
Any proper 4-4-2 team would be Lee Bowyer and Joey Barton in the midfield... Balotelli and Ibrahimovic as strikers, Jose Mourinho as coach and why not... Cantona and Maradona as wingers!
And René Higuita in goal.
That's a 4-2!
KillingJoker Roy Keane
But then where are you going to put Gattuso?
Nigel Martyn; Gary Kelly, Dominic Matteo, Jonathan Woodgate, Ian Harte; Alan Smith, Olivier Dacourt, Lee Bowyer, Danny Mills; Mark Viduka, Harry Kewell. That team were Champions League semi-finalists for a reason
newcastle did get robbed in this game though 2 clear pens
and in the end what they got was 2 penises less in their team...
Yeah because it's the ref's fault that two Newcastle players started having a Ronnie Pickering with each other xD
@@chtholly8084 I fucking love that reference
Lee Bowyer got fined by Newcastle United £200K. He got arrested by the Northumbria Police for assault. He got fined by the Magistrate Court £5000 and £1000 cost.
Wish this would happen more . Classic
3-0 down and he decides to take a swing for his team-mate lol. Funny a f looking back on it now, thanks for the share!!
Steven Taylor - what a lad!!!
Just watched it because of a reel....oh man...good old times!!! VAR would have a full day with this game. So many bad ref decisions. Outcome of this game would have been so different. Anyways, fun to watch it today though. Cheers, everyone!
Ironically Bowyer is now managing other professional footballers.

@@addictivecod1365 he's a clown.Disrespectful to Glasgow Rangers when we took Joe Aribo
Allan Scott Can’t you see it was frustrating for us to let him go like that, afterwards how we had developed him into the player he is today ?
@@addictivecod1365 you got the ultimate unprofessional managing your hopeful professionals. Thats logical.
@@addictivecod1365 of course it's frustrating, just like the young boy Gilmour who came thru the ranks at Rangers and who moved to Chelsea for money however you don't disrespect the purchasing team. Joe is playing in front of 50000 fans each week and has played against Porto, levekeusen, Feyenoord etc so is getting a lot of experience.
Reminds me of 2 secondary school kids fighting on the playground wen they are losing a football game lol
lol. i will always remember this fight for as long as i live. :p
Newcastle's defending has been consistent over the years. They have a very special style... very special.
Ref let this get out of hand. You could taste the tension through your TV screen.
Thank you so much for this. Utterly hilarious. Doris OMG. Why didn't the pundits comment on it ? Is it just me or did Bowyer always wear a rather baggy shirt...plenty to get hold of one suspects. I recall him and Dyer being in trouble for something else later ? Did we ever hear the inside story about the punch up and the press conference? And why was the Villa player so keen to get involved ? Lovely stuff .
13:52 why is she giving Souness tea in the middle of all of this😂
man needs tea
Watched this live on TV when it happened and haven't seen it since then.. Rolls back the years this.
April 2024 now.
Nice to see players staying on their feet for once after taking a hit .
Commentator: "a thoroughly miserable afternoon for Newcastle is completed"
Dyer & Bowyer: "Hold our beers lads!"
