Bowyer has since taken responsibility for the incident but I do think Dyer was purposely winding him up....
100%... He just wouldn't pass him the ball even when he was wide open, I know bowyer wasn't the most technically proficient but he was pretty much the average PL player for that period.

I'll never forget the fight between Bowyer and Dier itv was the craziest thing ever in football. I had never seen to 2 team mates get into an altercation like that it was totally unprofessional.
Think for me it's a close number two just behind Cantona dropkicking that fan. Never forget all the papers that week absolutely doing their nut as if terrorists had attacked the stadium.

I've had rows on the pitch in sunday league and it just happened to be a lad I had never fallen out with before. There were 3 or 4 lads in the team that I was much less fond of. Sometimes it just happens, moment of madness. Kiss and makeup, it's over.
Lee Bowyer and Joey Barton were absolutely crazy. They would fight their own shadow in an empty room. Graeme Souness was an absolutely beast and not a player to mess with. He was a proper hard man that hard balls of steel.

Shame but great lore. Dyer was some talent tho, wonderful running with the ball. Bowyer could get a goal for a midfielder but his temper meant he could never be a great one.
Always preferred bowyer as a player, a firey jack russel type who wore his heart on his sleeve...dyer was more skillful and would make great runs....to nowhere...then look around for someone to take it over as he was lost for ideas..
