Haha im gold as well, and its so true. Make impossible saves but cant see that the ball and my car will not meet in the air correctly so now im in the opponent's goal and the ball is zooming towards my goal. 😂😂
@@Dalton-rn5lb air rolling in gold is different than in plat, and plat air rolls are different then dia. Wont speak on anything higher as im not there, but ill play 3s with friends in gold and they all air roll, stiff and slightly out of control but they get it. My plat friend's are very different most the time are over spinning their car or end up being to slow up because their going up off weird angles because their confident they can air roll into a good position for the play. Diamond is when you get the mix of both, you get the guys that look stiff with the ball on the ground go up and will make a nasty fake with air rolls or those guys that have good enough control where they almost look like their freestyling. Having the ability to do the mechanic is one thing its just about consistancy and amount of time practiced (im diamond 1-2 depending on the day and im pretty stiff on air rolls as i learned that much later, but tweeking settings to get more fluetity) and if im being honest, if you're high diamond or above your car control is something based purely on your pref. Like kuxir barely air rolls and he made worlds, but you look at squishy and it looks like his air roll button is permanently pressed. Both very high end players and both more consistant than 95percent of us.
Also love the plat explanation. It just is. I watch a lot of RLCS, pro players, and tutorials. So I get mad when my teammates cut rotation and steal goals. But then I remember I'm good at rotation, but I just missed an open net 5 seconds ago.
@@marks4355 Watch Sunlesskhan's ultimate training video and follow the training routine he outlines. If you do that full routine at least 3 times a week then you will improve massively over the next couple of months. The more you dedicate to training instead of matchmaking the more and faster you will improve.
Just to add another variable. having a team with good synergy vs a team fighting each other, going for the shot at the same time, having bad rotations and so on is really a big impact on how well it goes in a match.
3 things you need to know to ensure getting to high gc (at least for 3s anyway...) 1. Don't bang the ball toward the opposing team. Do you ever see in professional irl soccer where a player just boots the ball forward? No! So you gotta try to control the ball unless you really need the clear or at least think about where your booming the ball to. 2. Commit. Once you make a decision, stick with it. If you go for the ball, keep going. Half heartily going for the ball ends up in an awkward position and you get screwed no matter what at that point. Don't be afraid to go in. 3. Rotate and be aware of teammates. If you have bad camera settings and no comms, then..... When you see your teammate go for a ball, hit or miss, and goes flying off into the distance and seems unable to recover quickly, then its in your best interest to not challenge and buy time. If you're the one challenging and go sailing into the distance, quickly rotate back so your teammate can go in for the ball. Most of the time the teammate back has a better shot than someone that's forward. Unless they are sitting in your corner waiting for 100 boost.......cause boost over ball right?
"Say you can play the game comfortably sitting in plat. One day, you decide... I wanna improve a little bit." Me: "Practice new mechanics? Nah, I think I'll just stay in plat forever."
What I do because I typically play later at night is between matches ill begin a search and jump straight into training. I'll do an attempt at Air dribble or whatever it is in trying to get better at than I'm back into another match
Trust me, Plat is one of the dumbest ranks. I play on an alt with friends at Plat and I even struggle sometimes to carry those games (Low GC last season). People do random, uncalculated and almost unreadable things and I'd say roughly 40% of the time it works to their advantage. Just focus on your game, get better and more importantly... grind the rankup. When you hit diamond teammates begin to actually see you as an asset and not an obstacle. Good luck brother.
one thing i kindve of regret is focusing solely on mechanics. im plat 2 in 2s and people think im champ just because of my mechanics and dont believe i have 160 hrs. i get a lot of "are you a smurf?" or "this is your alt right?" im starting to watch alot of pros play and try to think in their thought process
for you plats out there - i was gold three about a month ago, the highest i had gotten was plat 2, i began to watch squishys road to grand chap series and i learned one thing that helped me dominate. play PASSIVE. your teammates will be super offensive at this rank, so just play passively and for your teammate. i am now diamond one and continue to crush just because of this easy change of playstyle
This is accurate to the most part, but you have to remember: the improvement from when you were champ 2, to champ 2's now (people are a lot better now); how old you are (because age is attributed to reaction time); and how stubborn you are, cause that shit hurts at higher rank's trying to improve...
Thanks! You really encouraged me to try new things again. I'm stuck in C2 for four seasons now. I got something over 900h on my clock. Yesterday I finally sat down, watched some pro play and made notes on what to improve. I noticed that I am on a good way, but everything needs polishing. Positioning, knowing when to go for a ball and perfect boost jumps to help me get there in time are the things I identified as most important to improve on. But I also saw some interesting tricks, like fast backflip turn on kickoff to get the corner boost the fastest. Or adding side flips to my means to go about the arena. I noticed it messes with my play, but thanks to you I'm confident it will improve my play in the end. Having fun playing the game is the biggest motivator and improving myself is a lot of fun, after training is over. I'm going to get to GC.
Thank you for actually acknowledging the problem in lower ranks(therefore my problem) : consistency ! Ive watched some road to grand champs and stuff, and the tips are about shooting, positioning etc. It's most likely just gonna be consistency, consistency is key. To where, I don't know, but for me up to plat it's the most important thing.
i figured our fast aerials when i was in bronze 2. and i used air roll in some aerials, and to recover better. i pushed to silver 3, (WITH THE HOTSHOT) before switching to the octane, where i’ve stayed at gold 1/2 ever since. i can gallop dash on good days, and half flip relatively consistently.
Champ 1s are sooooo different compared to champ 3s. Not only are mechanics so much more polished, but boost patterns, recoveries, rotations and predictions/game sense is so much better
Here are ranks from physical appearance: Bronze - gold: any car, doesn’t matter. Plat-low champ: if you don’t have a basic skin with standard boost you suck. GC- idc
Plenty people in champ with flashy cars too though, just fewer random cars. Either they're standard and chill or they look like someone at least made an effort to make it into one cool looking thing.

OH YEAH WELL IM GC AND ONLY PLAYED FOR 7 HOURS AND I LEARNED HOW TO MUSTY FLICK FROM WATCHING MUSTY FLICK ON ME BEFORE I SAVED IT AND BRAZILLED HIM. Sheeeeiiiit. 🙄🙄🙄
On the up/down progress, I definitely notice how little changes can alter the outcome of the game. I ended last season (first season for me) in mid silver, watched as many RL videos as I can, worked on overall precision and started focusing on rotations. Just those combined can bring any player to gold. I’m still climbing right now and can tell how the brackets change, but just basic knowledge of the game beats some sick shots these players are working on.
I just fell into a bit of a rut yesterday, and this helps me feel some hope. I've heard pretty much all of this stuff before, but somehow, hearing it in each person's own way always seems helpful. Thanks!
Roman Edmond idk how many hours I have on the actual game. I know I leave my pc on a lot with rocket league still playing. But I still have a quite a bit of hours. I’m level 56 or something like that.
I gotta say I have just passed 300 hours in RL and I'm hard stuck in d1-d2 and I have almost no mechanics. I've gotten here fully from game sense and just being able to hit the ball enough to clear it because my game sense positioned me correctly. I honestly have more time watching pros and high GC UA-camrs than I do actually playing myself.
Just go into training and grind, I was d2 (peak) at 300 hours, I started going into training much more and only 120 hours later I hit c2. I only played around 20 games that entire time, learning how to hit the ball in free play is such a useful tool
I've been in gold since I started playing rocket league. My 1st rank was bronze III but I progressed up to gold really quickly. I can't seem to get out of gold though. My main issue is I am a team player. I have a bit of mechanical skill but I play very passive. Only issue is finding a teammate who can also play more strategically. Gold goes against my entire playstyle. Best I can do is get better mechanically and just try my best to get out of it. The farthest I've made it is plat II, yet for some reason I can't get back there. I know the way I process plays and stuff won't be helpful till high ranks. Rn I'm just gonna stick to simple things, like hitting shots on target.
Same here. Gold is a weird place to be and I've been there for years now. Constantly up and down the line. Some teams you meet are great, some are absolute garbage. Rotate? Nope, not those random teammates. Everyone Chase the ball? Yes pls!
Dont you dare sit in net, fr tho just focus on adapting to ur teammates and position where is the most helpful also watch gameplay thats like a rank above urs that helps too
@@cwdan5454 I don't stay in net. When I said passive I meant I tend to be very pick and choose what I challenge. I won't let it get to a position where we could get scored on but my teammates dont trust I have control cause I'm looking at my surroundings. I make sure to keep position and rather than pushing for alot of things I tend to stay middle. If I see that I wont score it, I back off. Sometimes they miss the clear which I cant predict that. I am basically as patient of a player you can find lol
Yooo zeke love the vids! Could you make a vid on rotations? I’ve seen a few but I really want your interpretation of it (and humor) actually I just want want the humor.
Dude the thing about you missing an aerial is that when i was gold, i didnt aerial. Now that i think about it, ive never been gold cuz i played earlier with the old ranks.
I'm gold 2. You pretty much nailed the explanation of it. For my entire rocket league career it's just been playing the game up until recently. I started trying to go for aerials. Still have a lot to learn but I can consistently hit the ball. But never in an amazing direction. Just away from the opponent. But occasionally I'll hit something randomly and it will turn out as a great play. But I do not consistently hit great plays I just consistently challenge really well and occasionally something amazing happens. Then I started learning how to dribble instead of just being the guy going around and booming it away from my goal. Then I recently started trying to go for wall shots and air dribbling off of the wall. I've noticed since attempting new things in game I've become worse but it ends up balancing out as I learn more and can use all the new skills together winning more games and increasing my rank. And I think the experience is pretty unique to rocket league which is why I love the game so much.
One thing I cant stress enough, work on game sense more than mechanics at diamond, you will have a much faster progression into champ. The mistake I made was I mainly focused on mechanics to the point of having GC mechanics at diamond 2
Not really gold right now sucks and gold has always sucked everyone in gold thinks they’re good but all they have is tiny bit of mechanics but don’t know how to execute or play the game
@@ignitedvenom9288 me: physically hurt cause I am a gold and disagree heavily No but for real nowadays it is so much harder to get up in rank because bronze is full of smurfs
I was hitting ceiling shots in plat because all I did every day was practice ceiling shots and nothing else. I still sucked. It’s just about what you’ve practiced and got good at, not everyone is the same at every rank.
My bronze friends didn’t know this but if you’re brand new to the game learn how flips work. How long you can hold them, it’s like 1.7 seconds or whatever. I have a silver friend who didn’t know that and he didn’t know why his flip didn’t work sometimes.
This is the first video ive watched from you and im noy going to lie i never comment like or subscribe but wow did i relate and understand to this video very well done. As a champ 3 in 2s and 3s i can understand exactly what youre trying to say about improving thank you ✌🏾
I have been champion rank since season 3 and I only learned how to half backflip a few months ago. At a certain point learning rotations doesn't mean anything if you don't have the mechanics to back it up. GC is locked for players that don't pass a certain level of mechanical skill.
wow your commitment is insane I wish I could have confidence to stay in the air for a double touch in gold, and yes its very possible for players at that level to hit those shots, as I said I was impressed with the way u were able to have enough confidence to go without hesitation for cool goals at lower levels. That really all u need to hit shots like that every once in a while + I went from d3 to gc 1700 elo in one season of playing. The game is all about your MENTALITY DONT GET HARDSTUCK U CAN DO IT
Zeke. You . Are. Awesome. Im here becouse of the 3v3 against (musty, john an khan). But im happy they redirected me to see this. Its easy to watch you videos, you explain very well with a bit of humor in it. I hope you hit *at least* 1million
Love the video. You have explained a lot that will help me. 7/10 games, I get called Smurf but I still miss basic blocks, 50s and aerials almost as often as I connect. One moment, I'm playing solid, have good awareness and reads. I'm able to focus well enough to know my intended paths in air one moment then the next, I'm whiffing everything and wondering why I ever even got the game. After 5 years, I shouldn't play like a plat 1 at one moment then a bronze at other moments. Hopefully with working on my mechanical and aerials training, I can consistently move up.
I got to plat 3 this past season and couldn't get any further, as it was my first season trying ranked. I have 500 hours played. Anyways I decided to work on rotating, faking, playing more aggressive but being smarter with my moves and just not hesitating giving the opponent a chance to score. Also getting really good with my aerials. I did my placement matches and I moved up to diamond so I'm pretty happy about it.
I've been playing RL since the beginning of this year and i´m a silver 1, it´s pretty hard to improve fast, i really love playing RL but i think is one of the most hard games to improve there is a lot of mechanics and things to learn, some times i forget that PROS have more than 5000 hrs playing and that the reason they play like that, you make me realize that i have to be patient, thanks for this video, all is about practicing and consistency.
Really well expalined for gold/plat i've played with wall to air dribblers with no game sense and demo gods and rotating masters. You never know what to expect.
I‘m C3 and I gotta say this far the Diamond division was the toughest grind to get out of. You feel like you’re so good and anyone that plays far better than you has to be a smurf so demotivating 😂
I played rocket league for months before I started playing ranked, people think I’m a smurf because of my skill level for my rank. So I can see where he’s coming from.
As someone who has played from silver through diamond throughout the years RL has been around I can say that these ranks change DRASTICALLY. When I started and was somewhere in Diamond there was almost no big aerials. no big wall shots or ceiling shots that lead to air dribbles. It was all ground game with little aerials. I stopped playing for awhile and came back on and started watching streams and realized that aerials had become a big part of RL, so I trained in them. to the point where if im very lucky I can do a wall to air dribble goal, at 1300mmr casual but ranked being silver and golds. I feel like because there is such a drastic difference with how people go to the rank they're at is what makes it soo hard to decide what rank people are. ALSO a big tip... DO NOT TAKE A LONG TIME OFF AT A TIME. if you can help it that is. I unfortunately had to take a few hiatus's that were more than a few months at a time. Not only with you lose a lot of skill, it will piss you off because mentally you know what to do but your mechanics a gone from not playing. To get good and stay good you have to play, and watching helps too, watching videos and streams have helped my game a BUNCH. I just wish streaming and videos of it was around more readily back in the SARPBC days.
I feel like people have also neglected or haven’t noticed how much lower ranked players are improving as the meta grows. I know silvers who can half flip and dribble with relatively good consistency.
I think the biggest differences in the champs is mainly the speed that the different ranks can play at, and the consistency of playing at that speed. Obviously mechanics and game sense between a champ 1 and grand champ are huge, but as you go between C1 and C2 or C2 and C3, I think slowly these things become somewhat similar, but the pace of the game changes for sure EDIT: also passing
I habe about 50 hours played now. I am in gold 2, I do not belonge there and it was kinda an accident that I was ranked in there. I do finally consistently hit the ball. Even in air. My experience so far. I need three things. 1.Patienc. With my mates and my self. 2. An unconscious understanding of how to move my car and how the ball will react. 3. Good training surrounding. Meaning, good sleep, food and so on. After a night with good sleep, I notice that my skills in the game just became much batter. The same with water during playing and so on. Do not underestimate the building that happens in your brain. Steps to begin batter happen most likely from day to day and not game to game.
OMG just saw your champ advise part and I’ve been telling all my lower ranked friends the same thing. Think about what your going to do and how your going to follow up, don’t just do something without purpose.
This rotation thing is really getting to me. I've rotated backpost, collecting demos and giving back passes since early plat and I was always hoping one day I would match with mates that would do the same. Champ 1 tells me that's not the case. Ever. At all. Will it ever stop? The midfield hogging? The near post rotation, blocking a clear? The net sitting? The sideways "clears" against the sidewall to the midfield, when you have it head on? Tell me GC is different, please.

I am literally a silver three and air roll and everything, the low ranks have changed a lot and high ranks don't understand that
I kinda just skipped gold i ranked up rlly fast out of it ngl i was in gold for like 3 days lmao
@@Iamrewt I tend to be good on the ground and I only air roll effectively for recoveries, aireils are not a pretty sight

Also love the plat explanation. It just is. I watch a lot of RLCS, pro players, and tutorials. So I get mad when my teammates cut rotation and steal goals. But then I remember I'm good at rotation, but I just missed an open net 5 seconds ago.
I'm hovering between champ 1 and diamond 3 atm, and I can confirm that this was very accurate advice and I've already started to implement it.

3 things you need to know to ensure getting to high gc (at least for 3s anyway...)
I wanna improve a little bit."

Schmo Schmo I recently did too but that’s because I got really lucky with teammates. Hit D3 but I’m a D1 in skill without a doubt.
Good luck brother.
if i ever get to Diamond im taking a screenshot and then never playing the game again :/
one thing i kindve of regret is focusing solely on mechanics. im plat 2 in 2s and people think im champ just because of my mechanics and dont believe i have 160 hrs. i get a lot of "are you a smurf?" or "this is your alt right?" im starting to watch alot of pros play and try to think in their thought process

for you plats out there - i was gold three about a month ago, the highest i had gotten was plat 2, i began to watch squishys road to grand chap series and i learned one thing that helped me dominate. play PASSIVE. your teammates will be super offensive at this rank, so just play passively and for your teammate. i am now diamond one and continue to crush just because of this easy change of playstyle

This is accurate to the most part, but you have to remember: the improvement from when you were champ 2, to champ 2's now (people are a lot better now); how old you are (because age is attributed to reaction time); and how stubborn you are, cause that shit hurts at higher rank's trying to improve...

Champ 1s are sooooo different compared to champ 3s. Not only are mechanics so much more polished, but boost patterns, recoveries, rotations and predictions/game sense is so much better
Here are ranks from physical appearance:
Bronze - gold: any car, doesn’t matter.
Plat-low champ: if you don’t have a basic skin with standard boost you suck.
GC- idc
Plenty people in champ with flashy cars too though, just fewer random cars. Either they're standard and chill or they look like someone at least made an effort to make it into one cool looking thing.
Then there is me at low champ that only uses a car fully decked out in champ season rewards. That champ decal really fleshed out my cars looks.
low champ: ppl ironically using the scarab and still being better than you

On the up/down progress, I definitely notice how little changes can alter the outcome of the game. I ended last season (first season for me) in mid silver, watched as many RL videos as I can, worked on overall precision and started focusing on rotations. Just those combined can bring any player to gold. I’m still climbing right now and can tell how the brackets change, but just basic knowledge of the game beats some sick shots these players are working on.
I'm stuck in silver 🙃 and this video kinda makes me wanna give up 😂

Roman Edmond idk how many hours I have on the actual game. I know I leave my pc on a lot with rocket league still playing. But I still have a quite a bit of hours. I’m level 56 or something like that.
Rye Bread just go to stats and check time played in a game
I think in gold people really struggle to shoot accurately. If you can put a powerful shot on target from anywhere you'll easily make plat
Same here. Gold is a weird place to be and I've been there for years now. Constantly up and down the line. Some teams you meet are great, some are absolute garbage. Rotate? Nope, not those random teammates. Everyone Chase the ball? Yes pls!
If it’s that bad, improve your mechanics a bit. Being smart in gold is kinda rough.
Most important way to improve is by not being toxic. In the end it’s just a game. You ultimately play a game for fun.

Why did I watch this? I don’t play or like rocket league but Whoever reads this have a nice day/night
One thing I cant stress enough, work on game sense more than mechanics at diamond, you will have a much faster progression into champ. The mistake I made was I mainly focused on mechanics to the point of having GC mechanics at diamond 2

The progression wave was well explained! This makes total sense!

Bronze can aerial now
Love the video.
Fluump’s greatest goals of 2019.
I don't play rocket league but this video translates to my experience in Smash Bros.
Dude your videos are awesome. Keep going your channel will be huge. Your a good teacher and video producer.. grand champ combo 👌
I‘m C3 and I gotta say this far the Diamond division was the toughest grind to get out of. You feel like you’re so good and anyone that plays far better than you has to be a smurf so demotivating 😂
Ima be honest ur champion explanation felt like a plat explanation from when I play
I played rocket league for months before I started playing ranked, people think I’m a smurf because of my skill level for my rank. So I can see where he’s coming from.
Silvers: just enjoy your time and try to not do stupid mistakes me: 200+ hrs trains multiple hours a day, is still silver.
I just wish streaming and videos of it was around more readily back in the SARPBC days.
just found you here, you are pretty chill to listen to man. keep it up! subscribed=D
Obviously mechanics and game sense between a champ 1 and grand champ are huge, but as you go between C1 and C2 or C2 and C3, I think slowly these things become somewhat similar, but the pace of the game changes for sure
EDIT: also passing
As a GC I bloody love this video. Probably one of the best I’ve seen in yonks. Keep it up brother
You’re diamond looks like my gold 2
You make it sound so easy
High diamond and low champ is what mid to high play now looks like
Ngl ur c2 goal was kindaaa insane man, your actually nuts👍
This rotation thing is really getting to me. I've rotated backpost, collecting demos and giving back passes since early plat and I was always hoping one day I would match with mates that would do the same. Champ 1 tells me that's not the case. Ever. At all. Will it ever stop? The midfield hogging? The near post rotation, blocking a clear? The net sitting? The sideways "clears" against the sidewall to the midfield, when you have it head on? Tell me GC is different, please.
