It's about mentality, I might be incorrect here, but when you play to not lose, you're playing scared, afraid to commit and do mistakes, and that's bad for improving, as when you're playing to win, you're playing with confidence and ready to make some risky plays now and then and learn from it.
Since I started watching your vids I saw what I was doing wrong and used that to get better. I was C2 DIV 2 and in about two weeks I actually got GC and the GC rewards.... I just wanna say thank you for the tips and I love ur vids
most of the time, i fall asleep right after studying (therefore not being able to play 5-6 days/week) so i use my tablet and watch rl vids in school. i try to imagine myself pressing the buttons because mental practice is almost as good as actual practice and analyze the decisions they make. very good strat to make the most of your time :)
Im a little over 500 hours and i hit GC this season and got rewards. Some consider that insane and others consider that not a big deal. No one progresses at the same rate. Everyone has their own way of improving, and it’s committing to that method that would boost you all the way up
I really like how you pointed out 'playing with better players'. I started playing with some friends I met in game. After a break of half a year they improved like crazy and I was still the same. I started playing with them again and improved massively, way more than I did when I was at the same level as them. They were pointing out my mistakes in desiscion making, I looked back at those mistakes and realised why I was in the wrong. I got from high c3 to 1600 mmr in one season.
TO EVERYONE ASKING IF ITS GOOD TO GET CHAMP IN 5 DAYS : guys look if u even get gc in only 1 year that is not good because u will take more than 1 other year to get 1600mmr because u cant keep improving non-stop u will surely stop improving and then rage and not understand whats going on. Lemme tell you the reason is u didnt give attention to the mentality of the game and just cared about rank, its not bad ofc u improved and got so good but when u stop improving i recommend u focus on freeplay and new mechanics. NO IM NOT A COACH IM EXACTLY LIKE YOU I GOT CHAMP IN ONLY 1 YEAR WITH 200 HRS THEN IT TOOK ME 1 MORE FREAKING YEAR TO ONLY RANK UP 1 FREAKING RANK SO THATS HOW I KNOW IT OK??? (now im gc at 2s and if i hadnt started playing 1s i couldnt have got even champ 3) so now go ahead and ROTATE TO THE FREAKING BACKPOST u kind sir.
@Zeke this video helped me sooo much thank you. Before i watched this, i was gold 2, now with all this advice in 2 months i am champ 3 in nearly all my playlists. again, thanks for making this vid :))))))

Thank you for some of these amazing tips! So far i have 44 great long notes that go over different parts of rocket league and breaks them all down :D keep making these videos zeke! Much love
Tip 5 is SO GOOD and very overlooked. I wish I had known that when I started. 600 hours and I just hit Diamond. My other friend has around 200-300 hours and hit Diamond the same time as me, because he is CONSTANTLY playing with and against much better players. Another guy we just added to our club has around 60 hours and we just do scrims all the time with him. He is Gold II, but QUICKLY becoming much better.

This video is so good. I'm a plat 1 in 2s and lack the confidence to play on my own. I have a great game sense but have little mechanics. This video is so good at helping me manage school and RL and other games. I appreciate it enormously
Zeke your videos are very good and they deserve a lot of attention! You put much love and effort in your Videos thats insane. And the crazy thing is you are amazing at editing AND playing (probably also nuts at designing) :D Keep going! ❤

I spend hours watching my friend play(I’m plat and he’s champ) it makes him play better and it makes me play better afterwards, I play like him and he focuses more, one time I started watching him when he was champ 3 div 1 and when I stopped watching him he was 1600. It’s good for both of us
This is amazing content! You look like a chill guy. You have great knowledge which makes you interesting to listen to. Keep up the good work, i'm watching you from now on ;)
Finally, a good well made 'rank up' type of video. Others I have a few gripes with put this doesn't really make me feel that way. No real hate to other vids because 90% of it is the inspiration to keep playing for people. But this video in particular was done veryyy well. Keep going dude. With your talents, UA-cam could easily be your job in the near future if you want it to be.
dude ngl im using your videos not to get good at rl but to get good at apex im stuck in diamond 3 there and the mental and training shit you teach helps in every game thanks man
Emachine A lot of people kinda leave 1s for what it is, and then when they finally pick it up again they’re way better than their rank mechanically, but have very little experience with 1s itself
I think even if you can't pull off a shot as your mechanics aren't good enough yet just go for it, you'll improve faster by taking those risks and attempting things rather than not.
The thing people fail to see if that, even if you're at 1600 MMR at some season, then still 1600 MMR at the next one, you technically improved, even though the number is the same. That's simply because everyone else also got better. Over time, naturally, the skill at some rank increases. Champ 1 right now is much more skilled than Champ 1 at release. If you increased your MMR, that means you improved FASTER than most people of your old rank. Even if you lost some MMR, it doesn't mean you're less skilled than before, it just means you improved less than the others. People always want to see their MMR rising up and up, but if you managed to keep a stable MMR, you should first enjoy that, you are indeed improving.
1. Play alot and practice everyday to set a baseline 2. analyze replay ALL REPLAY 3. Dont autopilot EVER 4. play when u feel bad as well just keep pushing 5. Watch and play better people Take notes mentally or physically
Good tips in the video! But there is one thing I'm specifically struggling with.... it's my motivation.....And I think most of players have that struggle as well, I don't even count how many close friends stopped playing this game because of that I've played this game for some time and the amount of times I've taken a break is uncountable. I would get really motivated and then I'd start playing RL again, playing for 1-2 weeks max, reaching my goal and then losing motivation again -> leading to yet another break, which lasts for couple of weeks... I don't know what to do, I think I would be a great player if I dedicated my time for this game once again, but I really doubt I ever will with this lack of motivation. I've spent a good amount of my time into research of procrastination, improvement, ect. and even though I know some stuff, it still doesn't help that much. Being the best I can be is something I care about however I don't think I have the "thing" to keep me going in that direction
Optimuuhh I have this with just about every game I play as well. It’s also why I typically stay clear of competitive games, because I’m never going to have the motivation to keep playing after a long time
I think the thing that helps the most for me to get my ball control i always do air dribbles in free trainning and now i master them so good :) (AND MY CAR CONTROL IS WAY BETTER NOW :)
Hey Zeke, I played 1s like... 3 hours a week. My rank went from P1 to P3. While doing that my 2s went down from D3 to D1 div 1-2. opposite to that my 3s stayed C1 and my unranked mmr for 3s went from 1800 to 1900... Any idea why the f???
When u are playing 1s u are ofc playing alone and only u are challenging, grabing boost and saving shots. In 2s u have teammate which is (most of the times) helping u with all that stuff. I know from experience that after playing some 1s and going to 2s u are overcommiting af and don't pay attention to ur teammates actions. But thats only my opinion and i can be wrong, but from my experience thats usually main reason
Kasjo Thats exactly what is not happening... I challenge to get the ball to my tm8 which works so gr8! They just think they are op getting the ball unchallenged all the time after me passing back, bumping the enemy meanwhile, demoing him, clearing to his side and going for challenges giving them an easy follow up. 30 seconds later im standing in the back position and they wont challenge. Wtf is happening??
each situation is different, but usually when you get better, you expect your teammates to be better also. Which obviously usually isn't the case if you're improving faster than normal. If you expect your team to be better than they actually are, I think you can conclude the rest.
Its getting worse... I play in unranked 1900 mmr with a random gc. We crush same level players with equal goals/assists. I asked him what he’d guess my rank is. „High C2 or C3.“ Then I played ranked 2s on low dia and... dont ask XDD
You probably won’t see this but I’m roughly 1700 and I constantly have bad internet (not terrible but like 120 ping) and I want to improve but I’m scared to play ranked and go down a lot of mmr for internet reasons, that means I can only play on weekends so should I just play and try push through the lag or only play once a week?
I watched tons of RL content so far, and I can safely say this is one of the best I’ve seen. Great advice. But what about console players? How can I improve my mechanics without the workshop maps? I’m currently C1 in 2s and 3s and I really hope that I hit GC one day. I know I need a lot of practice because lately, my stress has been over the roof in competitive lobbies lol.
I’m currently a diamond 3, I played with a friend who was champ 2 to champ 3 in ranked. I was challenged and forced to move at a speed to match that of those more superior to me, after he got off I returned to ranked on my own, and I went up 50 mmr after that
To everyone who thinks they deserve better your in your rank for whatever it is ball-chasing, not rotating, or just thinking to high of your self. I have a friend who is gold but thinks they deserve champ. Like no you can barely dribble. you think just because your way better in gold does not mean you will be good in champ. The speed changes. From div 1 D3 to C1 div 4 there is a huge change in D3 div 1 people are way slower than what they are and almost no one can properly air dribble but that all changes in C1 div 4. STOP COMPLAINING AND PUT IN THE WORK!
See even if you get champ in less say 150 hours and most people don’t hit champ intill 13ish days played (idk if that’s true) but the fact is everyone will eventually catch up with you and even out or you will eventually catch up to them. But there always is that one dude that will always keep getting better way fast so it don’t matter. You will catch up
Got a friend who is just as frustrated as me. Bro I train and do everything, I am awful at mechanics. I'm solid in most everything else though. Im just so frustrated that I'm not getting any better. This is the one game that I have a burn to get better at, but I like other games and work for a living. Its just hard. Granted I finally hit Diamond 3 in 3s the other night, granted I lost it shortly after but it felt good. Main reason is I sweated as hard as I could, still looked like a fool because I whif aerials. I just dont know what to do anymore. Idk the right settings anymore Idk how to get better. Idk if being on console and on a tv makes any difference, maybe its an excuse. But I understand most of us wont have that natural muscle memory for a game like this. But I do know that practice makes perfect and practice can also be legit skill, it can. Video games, sports - anything. I'm just one of the people who cant seem to find either. It really sucks
hey zeke, what if you can't play everyday, say, because of school or work, does that stunt growth in rocket league? i really want to get better, but do not have the time in the day to play. i can only play on the weekend when i'm free. any way to still improve with limited time?
I was thinking about commenting “idk how many views this has but this video is already underrated”. Then I got to 5:20 and changed my mind

From div 1 D3 to C1 div 4 there is a huge change in D3 div 1 people are way slower than what they are and almost no one can properly air dribble but that all changes in C1 div 4. STOP COMPLAINING AND PUT IN THE WORK!
3:13 ive been a noflipper for 6 months and have 2 montages, can confirm
I'm gold 2 but I play like a diamond is that good
See even if you get champ in less say 150 hours and most people don’t hit champ intill 13ish days played (idk if that’s true) but the fact is everyone will eventually catch up with you and even out or you will eventually catch up to them.
I love that ending🤣
I have been playing rocket league for 7 hours and am only at low grand champ is that good?
Gotta pump those numbers up 😤
I FEEL LIKE MY LIFE IS COMPLETED ZEKE COMMETED ON MY COMMONT OMG👍👍👍👍👍
