I love this theory. Even though I loved Anakin and Obi Wan's brother-like relationship, I do believe he was not the right one to train Anakin. Qui Gon or Mace would have been perfect fits, because they, like you said, would act more like a father figure, which is what Anakin needed but never had in his life, rather than someone who Anakin would eventually think he's equal to. The absense of a father figure playing a role in diminishing a man's mental health is a real thing, even in the real world. And I think, alongside his troubling visions, this definitely contributed to him being mentally unstable at times
Alternate Cut Mace storms into the Council Chamber and he is pissed off, "I should've brought you along, Anakin! Three Jedi Masters and all of them went down like mothafuckin' Clone Troopers playing with training sabers. Yeah, Palpatine was pretty tough, but seriously, one asshole got stabbed with a move so slow the younglings would've laughed. Jedi Masters? Political appointees is more like it! Anyway, come with me. We have much to discuss and many drinks to consume!"
The Thing is ObiWan was the best case scenario for the entire galaxy, The only reason Anakin didn't fall to the Dark Side quicker was Obiwan and him alone. If he had any other master Sideous would've groomed him far earlier and quicker. The Visions would still come, he would still see the force visions, he would still harbor the hate for the death of his parents. Each time obiwan is around he is the man to PULL him back to the light. Windu teaching him any bit of darkness filling that power at a younger age, getting the visions feeling the need to get stronger. Go to Palp learn more Darkside techniques and do what he did except without him 1 v 1ing Obiwan which would avoid him being a suit and Rule the Galaxy. His role was to reset the Dark and Light.
Thot Deputy I see where you're coming from but I think (Just my opinion here) that Anakin never actually wanted to be a Sith. Sure he eventually wanted to become one but not because his instinct said: Yea look the dark side is idk cooler or something. He turned to the dark side because he was scared and thought he could save his loved ones from dying. If Mace taught him both sides while keeping him on the light side, Anakin could've achieved great power (because he knows both , lets say , techniques but chooses the ways of the Jedi) With that he didn't really need the help from Palpatine ("Help") or he would at least know what the dark side is capable of and based off of that could see that the light side is the right side to be on... If that makes sense xD
I respect your opinion as a fellow fan but You're getting me wrong. Anakin never wanted to be sith, but he did want to utilize the Dark Side of the force (which tends to lead people to becoming sith). He was alreadly turning to the dark pre visions anyway, violently seeking revenge for his parents,The Clone Wars series itself he taps into the dark side quite a few times to get his way or upper hand in battle, and most of that is before the visions got strong enough he could understand. If Mace Taught him both sides, he wouldn't have gotten enough pure Lightside training like he did with Obi Wan, he'd get taught how to use the Dark as well. The Visions are still around and now he has even more knowledge of the darkside before conforming to Palp, which would've lead to the Galaxy Falling into the Empires hands. Also during this time, both sides of the force where experncing disturbances, he had no reason to pick the lightside over the dark when they where so militerstic, they were hardly "Good" they were war tools which is why both sides got reset. Obiwan is the only guy wh was Anakins beacon of light, and delayed him from going into his emotions due to their brotherly connection. Windu would never get that close to Anakin to the point they'd be considered brothers, The Force had Obi Wan as his master for a reason, it lead to the fall of Palp in the end. Any other option would just lead to Anakin flipping sooner and never having to go into his suit, and him becoming so powerful we cant fathom
God of the Dogs I kinda agree, they’d have to make something completely new. Maybe luke or leia dipped too far into the dark side and let it consume them, thus creating another conflict for the next trilogy
When you think about it, the only Jedi who really believed in balance was Mace Windu since he used both the dark side and the light side. That is a balance rather than just using the light side. Exactly why Mace Windu is my favorite Jedi.
Conor Stack that’s kind of subjective don’t you think? I don’t remember it ever being explicitly stated that the light side is the balance, you’ll have to refresh my memory if it was. But generally speaking, when one talks about balance they include both dark and light.
Unlucky Benny The Light Side of the Force was balance in the Force, while the Dark Side of the Force was the Force in its corrupt, unbalanced state. The Light Side was the Force in its purest state. ua-cam.com/video/68dvgRT3Kx8/v-deo.html.
I think you need to read some Star Wars novels. Mace Windu DID NOT USE THE DARK SIDE!! This is abundantly clear in "Shatterpoints", as an example. Vaapad took him "dangerously close" to the Dark Side...he was not balanced at all; we know that balance is following the Will of the Force, simply. Qui Gon generally did this; possibly Ahsoka is an example of the right idea. And people mastering both sides, like Revan, is not balance. It's very very clear that balance is following the Will of the Force. So your reasoning for Mace is off dude. Read "Shatterpoints"
I truly think Windu was the only logical choice for who to appoint as Anakin's master. He has the right temperament, knowledge, and skill, but most importantly he is the only master who openly uses both light and dark sides of the force. He is the only one who could help Anakin realize the emotions he grew up with are not weaknesses to be cast aside, but essential parts of him that must be tempered and guided towards actions of good. Mace Windu would have been exactly what Anakin needed, but ultimately it would have been up to him what path he followed.
Anakin could have easily been the next user of Vapaad, the same ability that Mace Windu used to beat the dog shit outta Palpatine in their duel, and he would have been a far better duelist for it.
Yep. Mace and Yoda are the only two who slightly even make sense and even then Mace comes out on top. I think Sam asking for a purple lightsaber really made Lucas think 🤔 "hmm maybe if I give Mace a purple lightsaber and have him use both sides of the force I can show there was a better candidate than Obi-Wan but the chance was missed"
@Cody Smith Palpatine was just toying around, I'd argue yea Mace is a better duelist but if Palpatine wanted to he would have ended all 4 of them instantly with the force. All of that was choreographed for Anakin, he had to see that Mace was going to murder Palpatine and commit treason. If it wasn't for that it would have been over for Mace the moment he walked into the room. Even Yoda couldn't stand against Palpatine once he began his force onslaught, Yoda knew a lightsaber duel was the only way.
@@A_Black_Sheep94 when it came to his battle with Mace, Palpatine 100% was not toying around. The visual doesn't translate very well in the movie, but straight from the book, it gives us a viewpoint from Palpatine during the battle, and he was, in fact, losing. That's the power of Vapaad. The stronger the Darkside User, the stronger the user of Vapaad is, and we can all agree that Palpatine was one of the strongest Sith Sorcerers to ever exist. Mace flat out beat him, and it was Anakins immaculate timing that saved him 😅
Anakin: The dark side has cookies! Yoda: Cookies, The light side has, also Anakin: But they have nuts in them Mace Windu: Motherff... We can take the darn nuts out!
Nuts and fruit do not belong in desserts. Chocolates, vanillas, creams, peanut butters, things of this nature are meant to be in cookies and other desserts. Raisin and nut desserts are blasphemy.
I feel like Anakin’s saber should still be purple, even if his master was still Obi wan. But for all I know I could be wrong. The definition of a purple lightsaber user isn’t completely defined yet. Anakin is a Jedi that taps into the dark side to fight for the Jedi, hence creating the mix of blue (Jedi), and red (Sith). But there are also users like Mace Windu, who has been described as having perfect balance with the light and dark. I think it would be cool if Anakin had a purple lightsaber, since he had somewhat of a balance, coming back to the light after tapping into the dark side. (I know he’s crazy emotional though).
The purple only comes from precise balance between the dark and light which anakin doesn't have. Anakin has the least amount of control over his feelings over any jedi.
Lightsabers are colored by the crystal that you put in them. I don't give a fuck what the stupid movies say it doesn't even make sense. Put in a blue kyber crystal get a blue lightsaber, use a bronze kyber crystal get a bronze lightsaber. The EU is just so much better in every way
@Cobba Your not Canon. Fuck the stupid midiclorian and force choosing the lightsaber color nonsense. It's fucking stupid. Kyber crystal color creates the lightsaber crystal.
Palpatine: "Have you heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?" Anakin: "He's the one who could bring people back from the dead, right?" Palpatine: "I'm surprised you've heard of him. The Jedi usually do not share such a story." Anakin: "My master gave me access to the Restricted section of the Jedi Archives. I'm teaching myself the ability to prevent creatures from dying." Palpatine: " *internally* Screw it."
If you think about it, with Anakin's age and being told by everyone that he was the chosen one, it would have made WAY more sense for the council to appoint a high ranking Jedi Master to train him, instead of a padawan who just made it to knight. Honestly ironically what killed the jedi was arrogance.
You know I really realized how depressing it must have been for anakin after he had killed everyone he knew at the temple, him maybe regretting and wanting to go back but he can’t because no one would ever forgive him. Glad this got a happy ending.
i feel like he’d actually be less dark side this way, much better psychologically adjusted, he’d be able to control his emotions and use the dark side in moderation
I like to think that this was eventually what Qui Gon was gonna teach Anakin as well. With Mace he became a purple saber user and with Qui-Gon, I think he would of become a THE canon “Grey Jedi” and fulfill his full potential. Anakin would become basically as strong as The Father (Mortis).
Yeah when you try and protect people from something by making them avoid it entirely, when they are introduced to it they don’t know how to deal with it, so they often go to extremes with it. Like anakin with the dark side.
@@ElPresidenteMargz I can agree with that because unlike the rest of the Jedi he wasn’t so dogmatic and unrealistic he understood that you could be a Jedi but also have personal attachments Canaan from rebels understood the same thing Luke also understood this so did the Jedi Quinlan Vos
To be fair, he also managed to defeat Doku in a duel. If Palpatine had kept that mouth of his shut a second longer, his apprentice would have spilled the beans about the dark lord, and this whole thing wouldn't have gotten.....out of hand.
And to think the reason why mace windu learns both ways of the force was Bc Samuel l Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber and then ppl had to make it significant in meaning

@@mucicafrajer Yeah but I think her recklessness was in turn a result of being Anakins padawan itself. She saw how he acted and did the same. I think with Obi Wan she would have been more chill upon seeing how he conducted himself.
I think it would have been the same outcome but at a mich more accelerated pace. I think Mace would have shown Anakin the bare minimum equivalent to a Jedi rape whistle. He was very firm in his belief that Anakin was too dangerous. Anakin would be frustrated more quickly and would be scooped up by Palpatine at a much earlier age. By the time we get to Attack of the Clones, Anakin would have been stronger than Yoda.
I’m going to go a step further. Mace would have been THE WORST possible master for Anakin! His cold demeanor, rigid ness and most of all mistrust of anakin would not go unnoticed by him. Mace also would have NEVER taught anakin vaapad even if he was his apprentice which would have made it even easier for palpatine to convince him the Jedi were holding him back
@@leerogish7223 bro mace is the best master for anakin bc he had lots of emotions and mace could have taught him to use it but not abuse it plus mace would have accepted that anakin has a family unlike the other jedis they would have banned him but not mace so he is probably the best master for anakin
This is seriously my favorite video you’ve done. I know this happy ending was impossible but it would’ve been great to see on the big screen. Disney needs to get you on their creative team.
This story is actually MORE accurate because Mace Windu not only mastered Vaapad, but also possessed The Force ability of Shatterpoint. Shatterpoints were a complex Force phenomenon, perceivable only by an unknown innate talent or immense focus and concentration on the part of the Force user. Shatterpoints were akin to fault lines, similar to different pathways of actions. Adept Force users were able to perceive these faults through the Force, and influence them. "I sometimes can see the weak places in an opponent-shatterpoints where the unbreakable can be broken. They can occur in individuals…and in events." ―Mace Windu
Well thats because Obi-Wan was simply too inexperienced to train a pre-scarred Padawan. He is a good Jedi no doubt at all but he wasn't ready for a challange this big yet.
@@KaedeharaLilia Totally agree. I'm not sure why if the council was so nervous about Anakin, and they honored Qui Gons wish, why they just gave him to an adept padawan/a beginner Knight. Did Mace or Yoda have a padawan at this time?
@@Camelotsmoon I dont really know I am not that much into the lore of Star wars (just randomly got thos video in my yt recommended) but even if those two had one, there were enough really experienced Jedi that would have been able to turn anakin into a true Jedi Knight that even would be able to join the council and become one of, if not the strongest (even though yoda and mace would have been the best by far). I really cant wrap my head around why they let a Jedi who was still in Training and just lost his beloved master train someone as "dangerous" as anakin if they didn't want to train him at all in the first place. It just doesn't make any sense and is, in my opinion, a HUGE plothole that breaks a really huge part of this universe if you really think about it. Don't get me wrong, I love star wars, but this one thing really doesn't add up at all.
I think Kit Fisto would have survived. He held his own a lot longer in the novelization than the movies and died because sensing Anakin's presence distracted him.
You have to remember it's all based on perception. After all, the speed at which Palpatine was moving as he butchered Masters Kolar, Tiin, and Fisto was such it would be impossible to translate it into written form. The time it took from the start of the duel until Fisto was cut down only seems long because of it. But even then all those things in the novels still took place over the course of less than half a minute.
I disagree. He would have also have became darth vader had yoda trained him as yoda would have probably have trained him slower. Plo koon would be similar among others. His best chance would be mace but even still its tough
Nah. He was the chosen one. HE would have to destroy the Sith. He would become Darth Vader no matter who trained him nd he would destroy the emporor to protect his son. Prophecy fulfilled.

Dude this video and ending was seriously beautiful beyond what I expected, the ending that should have been and I wish was! I never realized that Master Windu studied the dark side and that's why his saber was like that. My own approach to spirituality, I realize, is a lot like this and like the Force, and the way Windu studied both sides explains what I've done- not being dogmatic to some religion while having grown up heavily-trained in one and knowing God and not straying from him while trusting him enough to grow to balanced spiritual strength.
I swear😂 every Anakin theory ends with: “Luke and Leia we’re trained in both sides of the force and they became the most powerful Jedi after there father”😂😂😂
Mace training a youngling that’s older than usual makes more sense than obi wan doing it if you think about the Jedi’s methodology for bringing in new members at the time of the clone wars.
Star Wars theory: Mace windu’s Saber is purple because he uses the dark and the light sides of the force, and red + blue makes purple *what really happened* Samuel L Jackson: I want a purple lightsaber
Yeah, he asked the colors of the dark and light, George responded "blue and green for the light side, red for the dark side" windu or samuel, chose purple because it was blue and red together, and then they fit it into canon on why its purple
@@loaf5025 It makes sense tho. I think that’s what Jackson wanted to begin with. A character that is aware but chooses the light side. That sounds like something Jackson would envision.
I always thought Mace Windu's semi- dark side fighting style and the 7 form of lightsaber combat was a natural fit for Anakin. I would definitely be risky but I think it would have payed off in the long run as you point out. Great episode!
@@techwizpc4484 I agree but I have a slight defense. I think that Qui Gon assumed that his padawon would be the best choice to teach Anakin what Qui Gon would have taught himself. i feel like this is the perfect timeline, and the temple would adapt to windu’s views of necessary use of both sides of the force whilst having a good motive. this would ultimately bring balance since the sith are gone and the jedi are less dogmatic
This is one of those scenarios I would love to see even if it was just animated or something. It’s the ending I think we need but at the same time it would retcon millions of bits of lore. Thank you SW for such an awesome video. Disney needs to employ you as their chief Star Wars person. Love the vids dude and keep up the awesome work.
I love windu, the reason he was so powerful was because he was a balance of the light and dark side. I find it strange to think one side of the force is dominant and people don’t strive for that balance, I mean balance is literally the essence of the force
Thats not how balance works because the dark side is intrinsically unbalanced. Balance doesnt mean halfway between the light and dark, the dark side is considered to be a perversion of the force, so a balanced force means a lack of unbalancing, corrupting aspects- i.e., the dark side. The dark side is considered to be the part of the force that is chaotic and against the natural order, which is the antithesis of balance. Halfway between order and chaos isnt balance, its just semi-chaotic.

The Zesty Potato. But unfortunately this story line would be way more boring :(
The Thing is ObiWan was the best case scenario for the entire galaxy, The only reason Anakin didn't fall to the Dark Side quicker was Obiwan and him alone.
Thot Deputy
I see where you're coming from but I think (Just my opinion here) that Anakin never actually wanted to be a Sith.
Sure he eventually wanted to become one but not because his instinct said: Yea look the dark side is idk cooler or something.
He turned to the dark side because he was scared and thought he could save his loved ones from dying.
If Mace taught him both sides while keeping him on the light side, Anakin could've achieved great power (because he knows both , lets say , techniques but chooses the ways of the Jedi)
With that he didn't really need the help from Palpatine ("Help") or he would at least know what the dark side is capable of and based off of that could see that the light side is the right side to be on...

If this story actually happened, Star Wars would just be a single trilogy
which I like
And it would be great.
God of the Dogs
I kinda agree, they’d have to make something completely new. Maybe luke or leia dipped too far into the dark side and let it consume them, thus creating another conflict for the next trilogy
no
it would be the end of the Skywalker trilogy causing more character's stories to be told
Or a new Sith will come from another galaxy far far away like in Star Wars X. (If it comes out)
When you think about it, the only Jedi who really believed in balance was Mace Windu since he used both the dark side and the light side. That is a balance rather than just using the light side. Exactly why Mace Windu is my favorite Jedi.
GuyMiniatureBeastShow
The Light Side of the Force WAS the Force in balance.
balanced you say? ...as all things should be
Conor Stack that’s kind of subjective don’t you think? I don’t remember it ever being explicitly stated that the light side is the balance, you’ll have to refresh my memory if it was. But generally speaking, when one talks about balance they include both dark and light.
Unlucky Benny
The Light Side of the Force was balance in the Force, while the Dark Side of the Force was the Force in its corrupt, unbalanced state.

Yeah but the color is rare ( Sam L. J. Wanted to stand out in a big fight as well )
The purple only comes from precise balance between the dark and light which anakin doesn't have. Anakin has the least amount of control over his feelings over any jedi.
@@e1dsd720 agreed. For entire Episode II hes emotional. There isn't one, repeat, one scene where hes cold minded. Its actually incredible.

i feel like he’d actually be less dark side this way, much better psychologically adjusted, he’d be able to control his emotions and use the dark side in moderation
Also the only reason he used the dark side was to save padme, and windu would have taught him that
I like to think that this was eventually what Qui Gon was gonna teach Anakin as well.

@@octupleodyssey *what really happened*
"A Jedi's Lightsaber is Blue or Green."
Sam. Jackson: "Yeah, but I want Purple"
George Lucas : What?
Sam. L. Jackson : Say what again?
Yeah, he asked the colors of the dark and light, George responded "blue and green for the light side, red for the dark side" windu or samuel, chose purple because it was blue and red together, and then they fit it into canon on why its purple
@@loaf5025
It makes sense tho. I think that’s what Jackson wanted to begin with. A character that is aware but chooses the light side. That sounds like something Jackson would envision.
Comics: He balances between dark and light side.
Samuel Jackson: I want a purple lightsaber.
Edit: Jesus Christ, you lot can't take a joke.
No, man. SLJ asked for a unique color and Lucas made it purple for lore reasons.
@@gamespotlive3673 Pink is also quite unique.
Samuel Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber so the comics delved more into mace windu and his form of lightsaber combat

I always thought Mace Windu's semi- dark side fighting style and the 7 form of lightsaber combat was a natural fit for Anakin. I would definitely be risky but I think it would have payed off in the long run as you point out. Great episode!
I just wanted to say thank you to Star Wars Theory for doing what you do. It’s helped me a lot personally and has also taught me a lot about Star Wars
It seems like all of these theories about other possible masters teaching Anakin come to the same conclusion: Obi Wan was the problem.
Delta2414 Obi wan was the problem, but its not his fault. He was not ready at all for that responsibility.
@@stephen5601 , nor was Luke ready to become a master. He was the only Jedi left, and tasked by Yoda to continue the Jedi teachings.
@@stephen5601 True but it was Quai Gon who picked him so maybe also his fault?
@@techwizpc4484 i agree
@@techwizpc4484 I agree but I have a slight defense. I think that Qui Gon assumed that his padawon would be the best choice to teach Anakin what Qui Gon would have taught himself. He also likely had faith that since Anakin was "the chosen one," that there wasn't much chance that he would succumb to the dark side.
Now i wish Windu would’ve trained Anakin lol, this is exactly how i feel it wouldve went and honestly hearing this , i feel it should’ve went this way
agreed this was the best possible path
Then there would be no starwars
@@marka.1770 but star wars wouldn't have happened you know, what would be Luke's story? Luke is the whole reason star wars is so popular from the beginning,?
Tell that to the original movies that greatest this Star Wars fan base
@@Noctifern The story would’ve been different yeah of course but it could’ve been good. Let’s say Darth Maul ends up getting the Death Star plans and somehow gets it built. And Luke Skywalker instead of being a random he’s The Prodigy son of Anakin Skywalker but still kind of lives in the shadow of Anakin. Darth Maul goes on to destroy a couple planets when Anakin meets Jin Erso and finds out her father designed the Death Star. She tells him that her father told her how to destroy it and Luke leads a team and shoots the shot that ends up destroying the Death Star. The whole galaxy cheers for Luke getting him the self approval that he wanted so he truly felt like a Skywalker. Boom. I could keep goin for Ep 5-6 bruh
why is every fan fic plots better than the actual movies plot?!
Nick3xtreme Gaming because they had years to perfect it
Because our film industry hires fucking morons who think they can make movies about anything even if not a fan.
The prequels had to be what they were to match up with the OG trilogy.
No because they give you what you want
The movie plot is great. It is the execution that sucks. I suggest you read the book versions of the films.
We need a part 2 for this I love the way this timeline looks
So what i’ve learned from all these theories is that any outcome is better than what actually happened
That's why ROTS is an interesting movie. For once, the worst outcome happens and the bad guys win. That's not to say I wouldn't watch a movie with anakin as Mace Windus Padawan though. 😎
The Skywalker children will make a fine addition to the Jedi's collection

Hello there
@@GeneralAstridWanKenobi GENERAL KENOBI
i feel like this is the perfect timeline, and the temple would adapt to windu’s views of necessary use of both sides of the force whilst having a good motive. this would ultimately bring balance since the sith are gone and the jedi are less dogmatic

oh yeah! balance would still arise but in a different way
This is one of those scenarios I would love to see even if it was just animated or something.
He was good at the dark side because he was Black
Thats not how balance works because the dark side is intrinsically unbalanced. Balance doesnt mean halfway between the light and dark, the dark side is considered to be a perversion of the force, so a balanced force means a lack of unbalancing, corrupting aspects- i.e., the dark side. The dark side is considered to be the part of the force that is chaotic and against the natural order, which is the antithesis of balance. Halfway between order and chaos isnt balance, its just semi-chaotic.

Did you like this remake more? If you want I can still make a part 2 for the first (original you could call it), and the graphic novel winner to go with that if you so choose.
Good luck in this video's Lightsaber contest and I'll be reading all your comments throughout the day :)

Star Wars Theory great vid
Star Wars Theory also what if obi wan bought the deathsticks part 2 plz plz plz plz plz
