i wanted to share how i got accepted to csm's foundation & BA graphic communication design, my portfolios, as well as some tips & advice!!!

hi! thanks for making this video, it helped a lot! i'm planning to apply for ba gcd or the foundation course next year and i also did hl ibva :) i talked to my school's career counsellor and they said i don't need to go for the foundation course since it might be a repeat of what i've already learnt, so i'd like to know if there was a lot of content you already knew taught in the foundation course or did you get to learn a lot?
Hey I'm also applying this year, and foundation courses are really good for if you want to go to a prestigious art school eg Oxford, goldsmith's etc. If you wanna get into UAL I'd recommend taking it, as if you pass their foundation year, you are guaranteed a spot in a BA course. The foundation year will bridge the gap between a level art and university level art as it is a big leap. It also lets you build your portfolio so you have a better chance of going to the best art schools. I'm applying for UAL so I hope we both get in!!!

im torn between going head first into year 1, or going for a foundation. what kind of stuff did you do? im nervous into thinking it'll be a waste of time ahah.

but I want to ask can I apply to the BA course right away without the foundation course? I’m an international student and I’m in my first college year ( business major ) and I’m kind of confused I’m getting the impression that they only accept students who have a foundation diploma
hi there! you can definitely apply straight to the BA course, but I personally feel that I had a much higher chance of getting into CSM's BA after I completed my foundation course :-)

I really liked your comparison of LCC and CSM. One big reason I’m leaning towards LCC is because they offer secure placement years. How do you think CSM compensates for their lack of placement years? I emailed them a few days ago and they said they didn’t offer these. Loved the video. Thank you!!!
Hii! While its true that CSM doesn’t have placement years, our course often has guest speakers from the industry come to talk about their practices, which is good for networking!! Also, our course had live briefs from multiple agencies (e.g. Mother London) and they always encourage us to join competitions which is super helpful for building your portfolio!

@@minminnnn hey! What course were you thinking? I think that it’s really important to show variety: showing confidence in one form of art (for me it was painting), using different media’s or showing ur trying something new. For example I was signing up to graphic design, but I only did fine art. At the end of my portfolio I used more graphic design based work to show how I was confident to independently teach myself that.
My final thoughts are really to show things that have abstract concepts/ accidental work. They like focusing on how ideas are generated and developed vs the final product.

Hi theree! It’s not compulsory & you can def apply straight to BA!! I just personally feel that I had a much higher chance of getting into CSM from doing the foundation course first! :-))

Hey do you have any knowledge of transferring with UAL? I’m currently doing graphic design communication at Chelsea and I really want to transfer to graphic communication design at CSM.

great work but the photography one was a bit sus, i get your concept but just cuz shes covered while shes praying doesnt mean her body isnt hers and she has no say?
I agree. That photo was not only misinterpreted but also hugely offensive. Stating that a prayer dress worn by people of a religion is “ghost-like” and it signifies that women have no say in that culture purely out of that is so inappropriate
