For me, this is one of the most legally interesting criminal cases that I've seen covered here. So complex and nuanced and we're only in pre trial hearings. Thanks for covering 💜
I will say this judge has definitely taken the temperature down between the prosecution and defence. It really makes listening to the motions much easier
It’s a little annoying to watch defence attorneys argue against the law. I understand advocacy…but seems weird to be asking the judge to ignore the statute, when it serves your purpose.
@ They are trying to argue that point though. That because it was impossible to prepare for a DP case in 6 months they should have the DP taken off the table and reinstated his right to speedy trial.
because the state isn't providing discovery? the state also decided to go for a grand jury instead of a preliminary hearing, which destroyed months of progress because the state is being shady
One of the reasons for seeking extensions was that they received terrabites (terrabytes?) of discovery from the prosecution. I believe it was broken down as an amount of documents larger than the Library of Congress. So, that one issue by itself meant they couldn't get everything done in time. I think there were other reasons, but that's the one I remember watching coverage on.
I love this judge! Was so pissed they moved it but it’s proving to be so worth it. So worth it. I hope the families feel the same bc this judge isn’t allowing any fing around.
I think the court can’t stand the lawyers full stop. Ann Taylor is an absolutely passionate advocate. Also I think LYK Peter Tragos’ dad, George would be an awesome defense lawyer
Sounds like they (defense) is wanting this judge to rwrite some laws (which he can't do). I'm sure that's not what they're doing, but it sure does seem that way.
I know he hasn’t been found guilty but it’s really hard to listen to a defensive attorney talk about the pain and suffering related to DP. Maybe it’s because I’ve had a loved one unalived by another. If found guilty his pain and suffering is nothing compared to the victims and their families. I know she was doing her job but it’s incredibly tone deaf imo. My empathy goes to the victims and their families. Great coverage!
100% agreed. Maybe by the time he is done, he will have a coffee maker and smart TV in his cell. Geez. They have given him everything he has cried about so far.
I hope the defense feels better on dragging all this out. I do understand he is entitled to the arguments, but it seems a bit premature on some. Once we see the evidence and I am sure there is more we are not aware of, details on crime, crime scene, details of autopsies, the timeline, witnesses and even based on what we already know, video we have not seen of the car, other video footage obtained of him the following day after the murders, Bryan’s odd behavior even the night he was arrested at his parents house, all this minutia won’t matter. I think the defense knows it is not looking good for him. They just have to offer reasonable arguments and alternative explanations. No one else has been labeled a suspect for a reason. Even in a high traffic home with lots of DNA. Still cannot find another reasonable suspect. Mmmmmm Jury’s also go by lawyers behavior in court and they don’t like cocky, righteous, snarky attitudes.
@@soulomine i didn’t mind him. He knows he is arguing for the record. Tayler was a bit more annoying. It felt she continued to try to argue it to the judge. He literally can’t legally do what she is asking. Don’t know if she was trying to drag out until her colleague arrived though.
Whats the bet Bryan Kohberger himself wanted all this stuff argued and even researched it for them, I see him as wanting to make his case outstanding on points if law/change laws etc, remember how smart he thinks he is, he thinks he is special
@@norellemaher2956 nah. Sounds like the public defence division has stock motions because they are probably constantly trying to figure out a way to get the DP struck down. That last lawyer seems to have made this his life work. But a little ironic that they complain about how they don’t have any time…meanwhile they are filing tons of motions with no chance of success.
Right? Lol. Capital punishment exists to serve as the ultimate punishment for the more heinous crimes. The "inhumane" argument in a murder case is laughable at best, imo. Was the freaking crime (murder) humane? No! So the culprit shouldn't expect their punishment to be, let alone cry about it. "Oh noes, don't kill me, it's soooo mean!" Meanwhile, allegedly, that same perp callously took innocent lives in brutal fashion. That being said, I understand where the defense is coming from with these motions. It's what a good defense team should do.
It seems that the defence is behaving so much more professionally with this judge. I think they know that this judge will not entertain the behaviour displayed with Judge Judge. The prosecution are great today too. Seems very well prepared and to the point.

Ooohhh judge’s comeback on the trifurcation motion. Priceless :) that was the moment when the lawyers saw that you dont play games with this judge. What both a good and a bad move the defense did to change the location. The defendant got a correct judge but the lawyers will have to play by the book. At least that’s how I see it.
It's obvious they are connected and happened at the same time. Like Murdaygh tried for both murders, and his had some evidence that could be seen as more than one perpetrator but ultimately none of the other facts supported that, just the two different guns and small window of time.
