Yeah, for people to not join gangs, there have to be community alternatives put in place. For severely underfunded over-policed communities, gang affiliation isn’t a trend or about being cool, it’s survival. I feel like he would make more effective change if he partnered with orgs dedicated to creating and maintaining sustainable alternatives to gangs that young people could rely on for community. Also idk how fair it is to expect a musician to adequately fix the systemic inequities that led to the creation of gangs in the first place.

While I think the judge comparing rap to the WWE may come across as tone deaf, I think it was actually a good comparison. A big part of this case has been trying to use rap lyrics against YT. The judge is saying that the rap lyrics may just be posturing, like wrestling (which is well known for being scripted). Edit: Those special conditions basically will kill his career. How is he expected to be a good influence if you are taking away his ability to do what made him famous?
My concern for the defendant being on probation is... how easy would it be for someone who doesn't like him to set him up and put him in a situation where he would be in violation of his probation?
Exactly! He has shown by getting into this that he is quite trusting so he could easily be set up. I wish him well and hope he prays every day to protect himself. 15 years probation seems ridiculously long to me. It would be hard to keep that up for anyone and he could easily be tripped up. Just my opinion.
Prosecutor played the long game and threaded the needle with her incompetence and Young Thug’s impatience. It’s probably gonna backfire on Young Thug. Why spend all that money on such an excellent attorney and not listen?
I agree but I also can understand how mentally taxing a trial is. He’s looking for any way to get relief, and I think the prosecution was trying to take advantage of that.
Partly, I agree, but 3 months isn't a certainty. I can't imagine how many times he (and other defendants and the jury) were told a time-frame and then watched it streeeetch into the mess it now is. Plus, it'd be 3 months at the chance of being found not guilty. With a new judge, I think it's likely, but I'm sitting in the comfort of my home saying that.
