Very cool.- beautiful bear. Thank god we can still trap bears in Maine. As long as we stick together we’ll be able to beat the anti’s back. I’ve seen 2 giants come out of the woods this year- one just under 500 and one right around 530!
The guide up the street from me got one for a client, 591 pounds. Almost the record.

Thanks for sharing this video, great demo! I came into the bear trapping world around 2014. As we are only aloud to use foot cable restraints and cage style traps. It's nice to see the old school way. especially with one of the best bear trappers in this state, Orin, he's one hell of a guy, with alot of great info and sells some of the best bait.

Awesome video Allen !! Congrats! It sure was a huge black bear. I caught one this year 2022 Sept.5 in Maine, Bridgeton. I used a tube style with a leg snare. My bear was a boat also. It weighed 440 ! It sure was a trip of my life. What a dreidel it gave me when I saw it in the snare. I know just the way you felt. Tim Cote Guide service.

That’s a big catch for a foothold trap, but that was a big old trap too.
My guy.... This was 6 years ago? We still trap bear in Maine. Why make such a claim as one of the last legally trapped bears?
Even if it was one of the last with a foothold it's not one of the last trapped.
You can still trap bears in Maine.
It was NOT outlawed. I set for one last year and will set again this year.
Trapping with foothold traps was outlawed ~ you can still foot snare. Big difference.

Footholds are illegal, as you pointed out in your reply but not the title, "one of the last legal bears trapped in Maine."
I just thought I'd point out that no, it's not illegal to trap bears in Maine, in fact you can still trap bears in Maine with cable restraints buried or live traps, hopefully people didn't get the wrong impression and think that trapping bears was outlawed. And then start harassing bear trappers thinking they are poachers.
This is the age of believe a video title with no other confirmation of proof needed.
I don't need to be yelled at again by some dummy in the woods thinking they know the law when they don't.

sad in calif no traps for years many people have put out poison bad sad you need to protect live stock and people many times its government pepole
according to the maine government website you can still take one bear by hunting one by trapping each year as of 2022.
