**COYOTE Step Down set which is a variation of the Dirthole. This type of set along with the Dirthole has taken more coyotes and predators that any other set construction over the course of time. Hundreds of thousands to probably millions of coyotes have been seduced by this easy form of trapping.

Great show Allen!! Very good on the demo of the trench set
ALLEN , GREAT VIDEO!!!!
Good informational Alan. Thanks
Good video. Thanks for answering the comments on the pan cover issue. Noticed that and was a question I had. You do a great job. Thank you
New viewer here, great video sir. Will be trying to catch some coyotes on my place here, haven’t had any luck yet. That small shovel seems to be a game changer!
I can't afford to be that liberal with my bait. Lol
LOL.....I am kind of Liberal with the Bait use but as stated, I make it, so my cost is lower. All the best and in all honesty, a tablespoon of bait would suffice which is about the size of a 50 cent piece. Good luck on your line.
Road kill is the cheapest bait
I MADE MY FIRST STEP DOWN SET, WITH THE ONE I SAW IN RUSS CARMEN'S BOOK
FOXES BY THE HUNDREDS!, BUT HE CALLED IT A TRENCH SET, AND I FOLLOWED IT TO THE LETTER, IT LOOKED JUST LIKE HE SHOWED IN THE BOOK
IT WAS A LITTLE TRENCH ABOUT 5 TO 6 INCHES LONG AND ABOUT AN INCH AND A HALF WIDE, AND I BELIEVE IT WAS TWO DAYS LATER AND BAMM THERE SAT A BEAUTIFUL LANCASTER COUNTY RED!, THANK YOU ALAN AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS.
Thank you for explaining overpopulation to ppl who.thinks this is cruel or whatever the overall damage coyotes cause and money loss plus disease and everything else this is a must to keep a balance in nature
Nice man
I'm starting to hit a brick wall when it comes to putting traps in and catching them. I have 3 that keep playing games with me, but I can't seem to catch anything now, and I'm getting frustrated. Any advice?
Since you usually add dirt over trap I had 2 questions. How many inches cover the pan and how do you determine how many pounds to set your pan at with the added dirt on top? Maybe the extra weight of the pan does not matter, I don't know just wondering.
What dog food are you useing when u make ur bait..an who ate you getting your asfodita from in the large amount
You ever set the traps in the woods? We got coyotes grabbing our chickens but live in a wooded area… no luck catching any..
Yes. We have many videos on here where we show woods sets! Good luck! 🐾
Bait must be free🤣. Also, why do you set over the jaws...rather than thru the jaws? And no pan cover??
NO Pan Cover needed ever........I make the bait so it's cheaper for me........and whether you set the trap 180 or 90 is of your own preference.....I have always set the dog toward the hole!!!
I use the step down dirt hole as a remake set
👍👍
What NO PAN COVER???
NOPE......Does it look like we need one? I used to use them but don't anymore and have NEVER (*just jinxed myself) had a footprint on a pan placement without the trap going off!
@@NorthAmericanTrapperTV what pan tension are you running on your 550's?
@@BoysInTheWoodsofPA Roughly #3 pounds!!
I hope you do some cable restraint videos,
Indeed.....my Father Charlie will be the STAR this coming Winter on that......I will be showing some other stuff since I just purchased Dakota Snares but my Dad will be showcased on his Restraint line in PA. Thanks for the support. www.dakotaseries.com
@@NorthAmericanTrapperTV I had see that on a recent trapper J video, I’m assuming that his cables are PA legal, il check them out. Thanks
How do I learn how u dispatch them?
He uses an air rifle I believe. 177 caliber. Head shot
THERE'S SOMETHING TO REMEMBER AND GO BY, AND THAT IS. WHEN IT COMES TO TRAPPING, EXTREMELY CLEAN AND CAREFUL MEANS THE ABSOLUTE GEOREOUS LARGE ADULT ANIMALS, AND YOU WANT TO GET THE ADULTS, WHY!?, BECAUSE THE YOUNGER ANIMALS HAVE MORE YOUNG THAN THE OLDER ADULTS THAT RUN THE YOUNGER OF THE YEAR CANINES OUT OF THEIR TERRITORY!, TO QUOTE OUR FRICKEN INSANE DICTATOR
THAT'S A FACT JACK.
GOD BLESS.
Obviously, you don’t pay for your bait
