Another license to print money. Tweeking the regs every few months and charging is wrong. That's why some engineers don't bother. All changes should be emailed out to every registered engineer free .
Hi Derek thanks for the update. Really useful! I have a lad with me this week on work experience. What GCSE’s does he need to get on a gas course next year? I did my apprenticeship 30 years ago so sure it’s changed since then! Thanks.
@@kenharper5755 if he is under 18 he will have to go to a college. If you hasn’t got his maths and English GCSE then he will do it again at college. If he is over 18 and goes to a private training centre he doesn’t need any GCSE’s just be able to read and write English
Thanks for the update. So say you come across an old flue that terminates near a vent that its now not allowed too. What would you do? Would it be classed as not to current standards or need to be changed?
@@Tommy6gs do what we have always done assess the situation check there isn’t more than 10ppm of co coming into the property and use your engineer’s judgment with the situation that confronts you.
Derek it worries me that guys are sending you cheers for the update....I work with gas safe scotland and all Engineers should be up to date on this solely and not finding this out over your channel,I will need to be doing more robust engineer inspections to see who is not up to date with standards
@@johncassels-y7f I think gas safe needs to be pushing changes in standards and regulations better than they do. First they charge to see the standards second not everyone see the magazine that also seams to be every 2 months now. I think gas safe should be emailing engineers the changes or at least letting them viewed for free. At the end of the day engineers rely on manufacturers instructions and the reassessment every 5 years to keep up to speed because of their hectic days. I am not saying that’s right it’s just how it is
@@tomkatgastrainingvery very well put! I couldn’t agree more…. Many of us love to stay up to date, but it’s actually quite hard to do so when you have so much going on with running a business, working, living your life. Gas safe could of course make it much much easier. One other point, is that when an engineer is employed they seem to get lost in the inspections of gas safe and this is absolutely not on… I mentioned this because they would not receive the two monthly magazine as employees which is a good way to get information through. I cannot even begin to understand why the standards are not free…. Especially when everyone has to abide by them, not just gas engineers.
@@tomkatgastraining thank you. That pretty much sums up how we all feel about this. Gas safe could make our lives (and theirs) a lot easier but instead would rather give us “more robust engineer inspections”
@matthewdrew9370 that pretty much sums up the belters that Gas Safe employ as inspectors mate. Rather than helping to educate, they'd rather spend more time trying to catch people out.
@@Chubby_T0511what's your registration number and I can send you British standards and as for that message......why do you think we don't educate yous....... because we are well educated and keep up with standards and take pride on safety.. ....its a gas engineers responsibility to keep within guidelines and look for faults to prevent loss of life.
Just to let you know, you are amazing. Many students watch you and learn it better by watching your video than when on their paid courses !

Gas regs available on Gas Safe Register, continuously updated for the yearly access to documents fee…
Thanks for the video, there are some changes on igem/g/11, could please make video for this as well, without your explanation I always feel unsure.
@@sudhiradhikari19 filming it tomorrow 😁👍🏻
Thanks for the info not sure I would have known this without you.
