Beautiful. What a great loss Hvorostovsky is no longer here.
I saw Hvorostovsky in this role in Vienna about 10 years or so ago and he was amazing. I love his voice and his singing in general but in this role I think he is absolutely without equal. He was also a great Boccanegra in Vienna earlier this year.
I've heard only one man, who could be able to sing this aria with such a long phrases with one breath. Of course Cappuccilli. Dmitri had an incredible voice, an excellent technic, and fine sense of drama. What a great artist!
Tamás Márok lol I've been reading this alot online. I can sing this phrase about 6 seconds longer than he can without breathing in full quality. I thought everyone in opera could do that???

Never realised before for how long Hvorostovsky can keep singing without taking a breath. And Kaufmann just having to just stand there all the time and still acting so convincingly, wow.

I really love their dynamic. The chemistry is amazing, and that's very important in this opera, plus their voices go together really nicely. I miss Dmitri a lot :(

yes, but i think (and not only i:-) ) that he is a great actor :-))) and his voice expresses so much (i love his cd´s with songs:-)) f.e.schumann´s) and that he showed love to kaufmann, that is understandable, kaufmann is quite a lovely man:-)))

well, we all know that keenlyside got smaller voice than hvorostovsky.... His voice is not the richest bariton. but ofcourse his performace was very convincing. well, actually I think he showed very much 'love' to Kaufmann :)
